  • I love the sound of this guitar! Have you posted any songs played on it? Thanks for posting all your beautiful music. Greatly appreciated!

  • Per you are a maestro! Love your interpretation of this piece.

  • I listen to your music whenever I want to hear a lullaby as I am sleeping =) Very calming and beautiful.

  • hello per...this is the first time that i've heard this piece by weiss, and i really do enjoy it (and your performance of it!). it sounds surprisingly modern to me...do you agree? and i love the guitar! now you need to post your other piece by weiss!

    best regards,

    keith

  • Hi Keith,

Thanks for listening. Yes it sounds kind of modern. But it is probably the way I play it...

This and the Bourree are on my CD (that is out today). I think the Bourree will only be on the Cd... sorry.

    Per-Olov

  • great guitar, superb bass, and great playing.

  • Haha, "stay tuned"! ^^ I got the joke!!! :-)

  • This is from Lute Suite no.23 isn't it? It's beautiful. I just bought your transcription of BWV 996 (prelude), and now I really want this one! I wonder how different it sounds on the regular classical though?

Thank you, once again, for the wonderful music!

  • I think the tone of this instrument is too thick for this music... as it takes up a great deal of space which is one of the great triumphs of Weiß's style and the instrument upon the sort of instrument upon which he would have played. This instrument also has a very slow attack with a long sustain. To my ears it would sound great in late romantic repertoire tuned at A-435 or so. That said: you're playing of it is a great joy to behold- as always. Many thanks!

  • Olov, Hypnotic, ¡¡¡The best!!!

  • I WANT YOUR TONE, GIVE ME YOUR FINGERS

    or that lovely guitar

    ...or both

  • Here I was, looking for something humorous on Youtube, until I found this video. The beautiful and wonderful sounds from that guitar was perfect, elegant, and peaceful. My only wish is to hear something that beautiful in real life.

  • Man, I love the way your guitar sounds: grand and sonorous.

  • Dear Mr. Per-Olov: this is magnificent! Congrats on such beautiful interpretation! The sound of your instrument is magnificent!

  • What an incredible instrument! And the perfect piece to showcase it. I'd really be pleased if you uploaded some more Weiss videos, perhaps to complement your Bach collection.

  • The resounding bass is magnificent! a well chosen piece to exhibit it's voice. many thanks, Per! was it difficult to assimilate the extra string, or easy?

  • Thank you! I am use to play an Alto guitar by Swedish luthier Georg Bolin for 15 years so I am used to more than 6 strings. But, yes, I needed some hours to learn to play this because it is bigger in length (680mm)

    Thanks for listening to me.

    Per-Olov

  • Dear Per-Olov,

it it long ago that you posted this great piece. But I discovered it some days ago and spontaneaously order the score. Is it ok that I publish it in some weeks here with some changes with my 10string guitar?

    Best wishes from Germany

    Andi

  • Hi Andi! Thanks for buying the score! I would be happy to see/hear your version. Please let me know.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • @AndanteLargo

    Dear Per-Olov,

I have uploaded it now. This 10 string guitar is hard to play for me because of the unusual (or nearly missing) orientation. So I have to look many times on the right hand (:-)

I hope it is ok like that.

    Andi

  • this is my favourite entree by Weiss, I listen it every day played by Robert Barto in his "Weiss lute sonata volume 6" your playing is really different with Barto's version but is a fantastic rendition.

    5 stars

  • Everything you play is incredibly soothing to the ear. I love your skill, I watch your hands and technique to improve my own. Thank You for doing these videos, they offer a measure of sanity and tranquility!

  • Pelle (if I may),

As a luthier, lover of the guitar and struggling player, I think this is one of the loveliest pieces played by you. I do so enjoy listening to and watching you play. Thank you.

    arnoldguitar (Jerry, California)

  • Hi Jerry,

Thank you. I am happy you like this. It is a lovely piece too. As most Weiss... Have you ever built a 7 stringed (baryton-guitar)?

    Greetings from Sweden

    Pelle :-)

  • What an awsome sounding guitar...and the music waiting inside to be released by the master. Magnificent! Thanks John and Judy for a thoughtful gift. And thanks Per olov for sharing your talents!

  • incredible!

  • Weiss is wonderful!

  • just dropping in to say hi. I don't how many times I watched this video. can't count that high. would love to see more pieces with this baritone guitar. hey Per, did you ever see kidneykutter's account? he put up some Weiss pieces and plays them on his lute.

  • Hi. Thanks for 'using' me! :-)

I love the way kidneycutter play! And I wish i had a lute...

    Per-olov

  • This is absolutely beautiful! In which class of classical music would you consider it to be? I'm looking for some new pieces for my upcoming exams... :)

  • Hi. Thanks. With 'class' do you mean difficulty? It is intermediate i would say... please llok at it at my web shop

    per-olovkindgren(com)

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • uh... yes dificulty.... :) Thank you very much! I';; definitelly look at your site :)

Could you cover Capricho Arabe by Tarrega?

  • Hi! Thanks.. I did cover Capricho Arabe here please make a search on my videos kindgren + capricho arabe... I hope you like my version.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • Why do you do this to us? You educate us to wonderful pieces of music for the classical guitar which we then try to play and you then add an extra sting! You torment us! Only joking (written with gritted teeth and jealousy Hee Hee) beautiful piece, beautifully played Written with most respect and best wishes. Ash.

  • Sorry Ash... :)

But this music kind of 'needs' a guitar like this. But I have learned and played the same arrangement for years on a standard, 6 stringed guitar.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • Per-Olov, this is absolutely, perfectly beautiful. i myslef am going to be taking classical lessons, and this is truly an inspiration of what i want to learn.

thank you for posting all of these videos for me to watch and learn from.

    James Wilbur

  • Thank you James,

I am happy to be inspiering to you. Please keep playing, it's the best!

    Stay tuned! :-)

    Per-Olov

  • your life time dedication totally pays off, love the emotion and how you touch each string just so delicately and beautifully thank you for sharing these pieces

  • Thank YOU! I am honored. And thnaks for listening.

    Per-Olov

  • While I love to listen to beautiful music it is a special treat for a non-musician like me to actually see it being made. Thank you for posting these fine pieces on YouTube.

Apropos of your closing comments on this piece, I'll say that I have flown airplanes many times but it would really make me "high" to play music as you do.

  • :-) Thank you! What a nice comment. I loved flying an airplane and could be hooked if it wasn't so expensive. I appreciated your kind words.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • Mis mas sinceras felicitaciones, es un placer ver sus videos.-

    Alberto Abella

  • Muchas gracias Alberto!

    Per-Olov

  • i love this... you should do more stuff with the seven string guitar.. that would be muy simpatico

  • wow great!!! :D

  • I know this is a clique question, but how long have you been playing? I mean you not only strike those notes flawlessly with expert timing, but you have that extra emotion that really brings this piece together. You are amazing.

    Warren

  • Hi Warren,

Thank you. I have played all my life minus 7 years :) I am happy you can hear my work is heard.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • Veri good interpretation! Full of emotions!

    Bravo Maestro!!!

  • You'll be moving on to hang gliding next Peo! :-) Warning: aviation costs twice as much as you think and always takes the whole day.

  • I cannot get enough of this instrument or you playing it! Thanks for beautifying my days.

  • Ausgezeichnete flüssige Gitarre !! dank dich

  • thanks peo! i will keep listening..

    see u!

    kindly,

    faizal

  • Haha. Was that a joke, Per? Stay tuned?

Well, I know that staying in tune is not one of your concerns, at least. ;)

  • :-) Yeah, that was meant as a joke. Glad you got it! I can't stand badly tunes instruments so I always check that.

    Per-Olov

  • i keep listening to you almost everyday now..

it nice to hear your playing and music..that was really wonderful..i hope you can be my teacher someday.. :-)

    thanks

    -faizal-

  • Hi Faizal,

Thank you! I am very happy you listen to me. We live far apart so to be your teacher would be difficult :-( But please kepp listening. Maybe you can pick up some good ideas?

    See you!

    Per-Olov

  • i think the guitar.. :-)

thank u very much for your comment..

    -faizal-

  • hi peo! may i know how to be good at playing a classical guitar? i have learn to read music note (classical music) but still cannot play very well.. :-(

  • Hi there. The only way is to find a good teacher. This is still one of the things in life that is VERY difficult to teach yourself. If you cannot find one in your area, buy a Guitar Metod and follow every instruction. I have one for sale on my shop but since you can read music maybe that is too basic for you...

    Good luck.

    Per-Olov

  • Oh, what a beauty

  • Thanks. Me, the music or the guitar? :-)

    Kindly,

    Per-olov

  • Hi Peo! :)

Nothing more to say except "purity" for the guitar, your sound and your playing.

You are a perfect 7 strings guitar player! :)

    Congratulations dear friend! :)

  • Hi there! Thank you! I am happy both for your comment, and that you like my new 7 stringed guitar.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • Oh, gorgeous guitar. Can we start calling you Peo Sete Cordas now?

And really nice to hear some Weiss. Perfect for that instrument. What a sound. Congratulations.

  • Hi Tony,

Long time - no see. I hope you are good!

Thank you. Great synonym you gave me there... :) Appreciated.

Yes, this is great for Weiss and baroque pieces. It's BIG though. 704 mm string length. And my normal guitar os 650 mm. so there is some hard stretches.

    Señor Cordas

  • That is such a cool guitar, I allways wanted to get a classical guitar, The nylon strings make such a differant sound. Not to mention that one is a 7 string. Very Impressive

  • Thank you! A classical guitar can be bought for almost no money today. Try it!

    Per-Olov

  • Dear Per-Olov, what a wonderful welcome back for us all! Love the sound of that guitar! And, of course, you bring out the best in it. Wonderful! You were missed! Best, sam :-D

  • Dear Sam!! Muchas gracias or... thanks! How are you? I hope you had a great summer! I did. But it's nice to be back on YT too!

All the best and... see you!

    Per-Olov

  • to give thanks for your beautiful music

    and sincerely

    Sincerely, Paul

  • Thank you Paul! Appreciated!!

    Yours,

    Per-Olov

  • Very nice playing! Amazing technique! *claps*

  • That was absolutely gorgeous. The guitar at that register sounds so rich harmonically and your playing employed that really well. I love the return to the tonic at 0:56.

    Thanks Peo:-)

  • Dear Denian,

Thank you. I love that turn too at .56! :) Yes, it's a very good and special guitar. Great for this kind of music. I hope more will come. (loved your Jobim!!)

    See you my friend.

    Per-Olov

  • Wow! What an amazing sounding guitar! Enjoy it and post more vids playing it for us. Wonderful rendition of this Weiss piece.

  • Hi my friend. I am so happy and humbly honored to see that I was missed while moving to Sweden and also going to USA. It's great to be back. Thank you!

    Per-Olov

  • truly incredible.

The flavour of the era comes through nicely, yet is gentle and soft with your graceful touch.

    A great instrument as well.

I've been looking into additional strings and finally made contact with a luthier willing to train an apprentice today!

  • Thank you!

What do you mean with the last sentence? I don't understand.

    Per-Olov

  • Just that I particularly enjoyed the 7 string. I'm working on doing a stint as an apprentice with a luthier and I'm especially interested in non-standard string sets, especially 5, 7, 8 and 10 strings.

Don't worry, I'll stick to standard stringing until I get the technique down. Probably a couple of years before I get there (waiting a year for the chance to apprentice).

  • ahhh. tht's why! WOW! Congratulations! I might be the one buying your first guitar!! Who knows?

Good luck with it and let me know how it goes!

    Per-Olov

  • Thank you for continuing to express and entertain with your unique talents here on youtube! Buddy.
