man why do most of the films have similar story lines, honestly i don't watch Punjabi movies simply because of the ones i have seen all lead up to the same old conclusion and always having something to do with the land. Oh well may as well go watch Maine Pyar Kiya & Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge again..

@RockAustinDXtakerRk0 DDLJ and Maine Pyar Kiya was the same old crap, sorry but I didn't see earthshattering storylines in those movies. Ppl who worship Bollywood need to understand that regional movies have a much smaller budget, and they are geared toward commercial success because of an already limited budget and must face the cynicism of people like you who will beat down regional efforts. For its circumstances, I would say this is a great effort on the part of the director.

@ellenruppart Same old crap? as far as the box office figures of these films at the time of their release they did phenomenal business creating mile stones which are looked back at today, my dad still loves to watch "Maine Pyar Kiya" to this day and he doesn't even like a lot of Hindi films! goes to show these films have set trends. My cynicism towards something as regional as this does not come from hatred towards the industry but to the similar scripts resulting in lame films

This movie is a mega-blockbuster comparing to its humble budget. So by your definition, this movie is phenomenal in its genre.

In fact, I feel that the truly commendable pieces of cinema EXTREMELY RARELY see commercial success...it is usually the pieces of crap that see commercial success.

My friend, you may not know that this movie has done Blockbuster business in Punjab, and it has had the biggest per-print average collections in Australia for any Indian movie ever (the previous record holder was Ghajini). For a small cinema that is trying to spread its wings, I say the Punjabi movie industry is doing phenomenal.

@brentwhitehead For Bollywood and other people of south, they consider only "sikhs" as Punjabi but this is not true inside Punjab. There are many Hindu punjabi's in Punjab as well. Jimmy shergill is also a jatt sikh without turban.
