I'm female and thinking about doing mechanics. Either car or motorcycle, Mostly motorcycles though. Hate woman who do the whole Barbie "I don't want to break my nails" or "that'll mess up my hair" thing. I don't think the guys will be hard to handle. I've always been around guys growing up talking about cars etc :)
Hardest part about working on a car is having to right tool to do the job. Also getting to some bolts and screws is a huge pain in the ass too lol. Also knowing the systems and being able to know whats wrong is a huge part too. If I take my truck in, I don't care who works on it, male or female, I've had worse luck with male techs working on my truck than I have had with female techs.
i always laughed at female mechanics,i got put in my place at sears,i was a tech 1 tire guy working to get to tech 2and 3 and make some real money,a girl started and i mocked her,she blew me away and was a tech 2 in 3 months, tech 3 in 8,she is fast and good, she is doing brakes and alignments and i get to sweep the floor in her bay when she is done
Heres a tip. All industries that have to do with automotive make money by ripping people off. Thats why honest mechanics all go out of business. 130 plus dollars an hour at a dealership and the mechanic is making 22 $ an hour. Sad thing is its tough in canada to find any half descent body shops or garages. Do the work yourself.
@DrMotorDude For example, History Pre-Law was my major. The school assigns you an adviser who specializes in helping you get into law-school. Same with "Pre-Med".
@DrMotorDude No. My diploma reads "Bachelor of the Arts" and underneath that, History. It does not specify my minor, or the concentration of history I went through. But I still completed those requirments. However, this was my school. Oberlin, where she attended and I did not, is known for being very liberal and student- bending. Perhaps she made her own major, or perhaps Oberlin has a Pre-Law major that gives you a larger breadth of liberal arts. Or perhaps, the newscaster messed up the story.

I'm a lawyer. I am pretty good with automobiles and used to race cars and bikes before joining law school. I now feel I should have opened a garage.
