  • A good example of censoring media between states is the showing of UnderBelly season 1. They showed it in all states except for Victoria because the court case was still going on; and we all know how well that worked out for channel 7. People just downloaded it, got friends to tape and send it etc. Its impossible to sensor anything at a state level, and anyone who thinks they can shouldn't be on tv saying saying you can.

  • the media was pivotal in spreading information about that case and sensationalizing the issue

go watch 'media watch' online. sunrise morons

  • "Shut down facebook in Victoria" about 4:59

The suppression order assumes that the state Victoria can be completely isolated from the rest of the world. NSW and QLD papers and TV have published the arsonists name, but presumably, these have not been transmitted / carried into Victoria....

How do we enforce a Victorian judges order against a US based service provider, one with no offices in Australia ?

  • I think its an interesting dilemma but I believe the court order is unenforceable in modern times...it's out of step with a tectonic shift in information syndication that has happened for at least the last 5 years. Trying to enforce this law is a ridiculous argument. The judge needs social media lessons.
