I have a hard time using the knife to put the snow on the mountains. The paint usually comes off the knife like putting icing on a cake, even when i barely press at all. The paint doesn't break apart like i want it to. Any suggestions? thanks!
There was a video on here where someone was doing one of these paintings they were calm then they started propper slow fuckin it up. then they go crazy on it and the camera gets damaged all that was soooo frigging funny. BUt it got taken down by the person I think.
nice drawings, however, with the sun in the position you have drawn it in, i don't think the highlights would be from the right, more like on the fringes from both left and right
Yeah, I had some troubles with my mountains earlier today, and this video pretty much cleared up all the questions to the problems I was having. Thanks a lot for posting this! This is an excellent painting and yes, Bob Ross would be VERY proud of this. Thanks again.
Sweet, very nice. I might start painting again, I have been looking for inspiration and I think that you may have provided some. Thankyou for the post.
Hey twinket great job, ive been doin the bob ross technique for 2-3 years now and while im slowly progressing, im always having trouble with making decisions on the highlighting the angles on the mountains, i can get the paint to break its making the different angles that is the tricky part for me, any advice? Thanks.
Sir! I need to know if you really painted this against mere black gesso without using that liquid white (or black) stuff I'm told is essential to wet-on-wet technique!
He started out with the canvas covered in black gesso then applied a VERY thin coat of "liquid clear" which is nothing more than plain ole linseed oil. The purpose of the liquid clear is to lubricate the canvas. Otherwise, the paint would be like GLUE and be very difficult to spread across the canvas.
Liquid white is nothing more than "linseed oil" with a small amount of titanium white added to it and is ONLY used as a base on a white canvas.
actually there's no liquid clear on this painting, though i admit it's used a lot. no, i spread transparent colors dark sienna and indian yellow so the canvas still looks black, but it is wet so the paint would move. you don't have to use liquid clear, i don't like it because it's shiny & sticky, but i've been told the Bill Alexander Magic Clear is much better.
he got the highlighting right, because the sun is behind the mountains. and the highlights are on the right side of both of the tallest parts of the mountains. if he reversed the highlighting on the right mountain then it would be wrong.
Slight criticism - You forgot to keep your light source in mind when you highlighted the mountains. The one on the right should have it's highlight/shadow sides reversed.
Your technique was very good though. I think you have both the skill with the tools and the artist's eye required to be a good landscape artist. Your composition and depth was very good.
Keep posting and keep talking - much rather hear the artist's 'babble' than some lame music dub.
Yes. Bob Ross is been my inspiration in painting and I'm sure to many as well. I used to watch his shows on the weekends and loved all of it. He's just a natural lanscape painters.

@AJohnson0325 The paint has to be very dry on the knife, work it on the palette until it gets stiffer.

Muy bien pero se ve una fuente de luz en el fondo sin embargo los picos (cerros) muestran un brillo lateral derecho ¿cuantas fuentes de luz hay?

You're correct, except in that painting, Bob Ross himself is holding a giant spotlight against those mountains. xD
