Both songs are sung with a mix of languages that are referred to mostly as Ancient Romanian. This is not the first time Yoko Kanno has made songs using this language. Search 'sora escaflowne'. That song was the first time it was used, and it was sung by Shanti Snyder (who also sung the intro to Legend of Dragoon called 'If you still believe' which is AMAZING and the intro to the Ghost in the Shell series). If your decision still remains thats cool, not the first case if ignorant bliss.

Oh and if anyone is an old school anime fan, Shanti Snyder was the person who voiced Kodachi Kuno from the Ranma 1/2 series. The crazy acrobatic gymnist style fighter with the high pitched laugh.
