this is the type of box im building except with two kicker tens and an alpine 12 and that looks like the type of color im going to be using but i saw at the begining of the video you had two circles (for the speakers) and two blocks holding them so what im wondering is after the resin dries how do you take them out and what did you secure them in there with

hey im making a fiberglass box too but instead of the polyester i used a shirt , and ive done 3 coats of fiberglas on the shirt and its still not solid . i can press on it and it will flex do u have any tips ? and how do i remove the fiberglass off the brush to re use it . or do i have to use a new one every time

@castromand4 A shirt and thin fabrics can not hold as much resin than fleece or felt! that's why they flex.....

You need to wait for the resin to dry, then sand then you need to use fiberglass matting to reinforce the structure. Polyester is cheap and it can hold lots of resin, so there is no need to risk it with thinner material. the other thing you can do is MIX "Milkshake" witch is 1part Fiberglass Resin and 1part Bondo! make sure that the resin and bondo are the same brand.

I did it in my spare time, so it took me 3 weeks to finish it, but if you count the hours it was more like 4-8hrs days

The hardest part is what you want the sub box to look like. Laying the glass is easy (gloves n ventilated area)

I'll be posting more fiberglass project for automotive and home projects so stay tuned....

Nice job! So how does the thickness of one of these boxes compare to using MDF? Does it being fiber and bondo allow you to get away with using a thinner shell?

Yes, with no use of matt, I can make the thickness of the box bigger by using the mixture of the fiberglass resin/bondo (evercoat was used) ont he inside of the box, then with the regular bondo coat ontop is more than enough to withstand over 1500 watts, this was a year ago and the box is till punding :)

Great thanks... so what would you say is the thickness of the contoured parts? Is it about the same as the MDF or half the thickness?
