It's a match that could still happen if they WANTED to do it,Cena vs Rock is not exciting and isn't gonna happen. Since they got rid of MITB the undertaker is the only thing worth seeing at WM. The Rock would win. Kurt Angle beat everybody but Bret.
The interesting thing is I heard the Rock had real life heat with Shawn back in '96-'97. HBK was with the "clique" back then and pretty much controlled the locker room. One of the guys he didn't want to help put over was the Rock. On top of that, Rock was cool with Bret Hart and his family. I read this somewhere that they never liked each other. Anyway, they could have ran with that.
The reason why The Rock and Shawn Michaels never had a match, together, is all due to bad timing. After Shawn Michaels broke his back and left the WWF, back in '99, The Rock was becoming extremely popular, and getting headliner status. Then, after The Rock started doing movies and left the WWE, in '02, Shawn Michaels came back. They could have had a match, back in '03, though, since they were both in the WWE, at that time, and they both had a big match, at WrestleMania XIX, that year.
@BrutalAsHell yeah it would have been better if the rock faced shawn michaels instead of austin for a 3rd time at wrestlemania. Now that would have been a huge draw if it was the rock vs michaels at wrestlemania 19.
No doubt about it, it would have been an extremely huge match. They also could just waited a year and had a match at WrestleMania XX, since they were both in the WWE, at that time, as well. Plus, that was the 20th anniversary of WrestleMania, so, it would have just made it even that more special. Vince McMahon really should have made that happen, while he still had th chance, too. They're both pretty much retired, now, though, so, I highly doubt that it will ever happen. Too bad.

I don't get it... how can you forget the very first Smackdown whe the Rock was about to win the WWF Championship from HHH. Michaels was the guest ref. when the Rock was about to hit the Peoples Elbow, Michaels super kicked him, and HHH got the pin. Michaels and Shane celebrated with HHH. About a year or two the Rock mentioned the incident, and showed a video of it. I think it was when Michaels came back and joined the NWO I forget when exactly, but the Rock didn't forget that, and neither did I.

Several months ago at the royal rumble HBK was desperate to win to face Undertaker. What if The Rock entered the Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant and eliminate HBK. HBK would realise that his dream of facing Undertaker was over, he would get back in the ring and eliminate The Rock. They could've had a brawl outside the ring, finally being separated by officials and backstage staff.
Once I was able to get past the voice, I completely agree with this guy in everything he said. HBK and the Rock are my 2 favs. of all-time. All those angles for a feud would work very well.

If they made the dream match rock vs. Shawn Michaels actually happen the promos and weeks prior should most likely encompass shawn insulting the rock and saying that the rock stole his thunder and put his career on hold while he was hurt, also a match that should've happened for the icon vs. icon match which was hogan vs. the rock...should have been stoneccold steve austin vs. hulk hogan, and there would be a ton of ways to have made that work and also involve shawn and the rock, or a 4way dance

I don't know how I'd book the match, but it is definitely a dream match. The Rock talked about it at the HOF when he inducted his dad & granddad. Shawn and Rock have some similarities. They both are incomparable on the mic; watching those two go at it in promos might be better than the actual match. They both have unparalled charisma; and they both have capitalized on their looks to draw the women crowd, while maintaining the male crowd. It's really a shame that this match has never happened.

hbk says if he tries that shit again, he'll have to step in. rocky plays it off and boom, puchs hbk dead smack in the face. rocky is apparently on orton's side. hbk gets back up at super kicks rocky. half the crowd cheers while the other half is stunned. and there, here's the possibility for a rivalry between the two.
Paul Heyman said that if The Rock ever came back, it'd be good to set him up as being all "Hollywood" and arrogant as a heel, because of his film career. If The Rock came back full time, I think that'd work but, if he intended to leave again, I think he'd have to stay as a face for more people to still be interested in his movie career.
But if we went with the former idea, it'd be very easy for The Rock to get heat and have HBK take exception to it.
Had The Rock stayed in WWE full time in 2003, a great time to have had this match with Shawn Michaels would have been SummerSlam of that very year. The Rock had just finished his story with Goldberg. And Shawn Michaels didn't seem to be doing anything after his fued with Jericho. This could have been built up nicely after RAW's June PPV leading up to SummerSlam. I would have liked to have seen Lesnar against Michaels too, but in 2004 had Lesnar not left the company.
match to be made , while rock vs michaels was built up for wrestlemania , (ironman 30mins ) in the match i would have the score at 1 - 1 have the rock lock in his sharpshooter and the match go to a draw but after that i do not know what would i would do maybye just end it there because i cannot decide a winner

HBK and the Rock is the greatest match that never happened.. But at this point I don't want it to happen. Why? The WWE doesn't deserve it. I wanted to see it really badly when the Rock first got his face push. They even had a little feud going between them with HBK screwing the Rock from a title on Smackdown.
At this point, the Rock vs HBK is too great an event for the WWE. Its also too good for the current fanbase who really don't deserve this. They deserve more Cena vs HHHs.

Thank you Spinnernet1 for posting this! This has always been my favorite dream match. Thought it was going to happen at WM21. In the past, the Rock said he never liked HBK and wasn't interested in wrestling him. But recently at last years Hall of Fame, the Rock said that HBK was one of the 3 guys he would love to wrestle. The fans were cheering for it and the Rock was laughing with HBK on stage about it. If it happened, HBK would have to be heel and and let the Rock get the win.

i would have it shawn michaels becomes the champ then rock guest hosts raw and says he's the peoples champ michaels saying he's the real champ the rock then says he would like to see who is the true champ. then the rock enters at 30 in the royal rumble and wins. michaels then says things like the rock should have never come back and the rock replies with some insults back before micheals gets the rock to fight somebody in a warm up match at no way out.

You would have to do something realsitic so that they probably would both have to be faces which would cause a lot of them teamming before hand to take out some1 else for instance lets say Legacy or BId Show and Jericho. The rock takes over legacy and goes back to his "rock concerts" and makes fun of San Antonio. Shawn comes out and they start to brawl until legacy "evens" the field. for weeks they confront each other until they get to Royal Rumble. Shawn wins by dq when legacy takes him out, but the match is restarted. shawn plays possum, rock goes for the elbow and gets superkicked. end of story
and i think a wrestlemania with a quest ref and i think the ref would have to be like vince or austin and it would be one of hell of match like and it would be hard to decide on a winner but i think it would be the best match ever

The Rock comes to Raw next week and Shawn will challange him. At Wrestlemania, it would go back a forth. Shawn will hit rock with the Sweet Chin Music, But Rock will kick out and he does the Rock Bottom and Peoples Elbow. When He does the Peoples Elbow. HBK will Kip Up(The thing when he comes back up) and Hit him with A Sweet Chin Music, outta no where.

The interesting thing is I heard the Rock had real life heat with Shawn back in '96-'97. HBK was with the "clique" back then and pretty much controlled the locker room. One of the guys he didn't want to help put over was the Rock. On top of that, Rock was cool with Bret Hart and his family. I read this somewhere that they never liked each other. Anyway, they could have ran with that.

The reason why The Rock and Shawn Michaels never had a match, together, is all due to bad timing. After Shawn Michaels broke his back and left the WWF, back in '99, The Rock was becoming extremely popular, and getting headliner status. Then, after The Rock started doing movies and left the WWE, in '02, Shawn Michaels came back. They could have had a match, back in '03, though, since they were both in the WWE, at that time, and they both had a big match, at WrestleMania XIX, that year.

No doubt about it, it would have been an extremely huge match. They also could just waited a year and had a match at WrestleMania XX, since they were both in the WWE, at that time, as well. Plus, that was the 20th anniversary of WrestleMania, so, it would have just made it even that more special. Vince McMahon really should have made that happen, while he still had th chance, too. They're both pretty much retired, now, though, so, I highly doubt that it will ever happen. Too bad.

The sad thing is that they had a chance to make this happen during early 2003. The Rock just came back and turned heel and HBK had just finished his feud with HHH the previous month but instead, they had The Rock feud with Hogan and Stone Cold AGAIN and HBK feud with Jericho. I don't get it... how can you forget the very first Smackdown whe the Rock was about to win the WWF Championship from HHH. Michaels was the guest ref. when the Rock was about to hit the Peoples Elbow, Michaels super kicked him, and HHH got the pin. Michaels and Shane celebrated with HHH. About a year or two the Rock mentioned the incident, and showed a video of it. I think it was when Michaels came back and joined the NWO I forget when exactly, but the Rock didn't forget that, and neither did I.

If they made the dream match rock vs. Shawn Michaels actually happen the promos and weeks prior should most likely encompass shawn insulting the rock and saying that the rock stole his thunder and put his career on hold while he was hurt, also a match that should've happened for the icon vs. icon match which was hogan vs. the rock...should have been stoneccold steve austin vs. hulk hogan, and there would be a ton of ways to have made that work and also involve shawn and the rock, or a 4way dance

I don't know how I'd book the match, but it is definitely a dream match. The Rock talked about it at the HOF when he inducted his dad & granddad. Shawn and Rock have some similarities. They both are incomparable on the mic; watching those two go at it in promos might be better than the actual match. They both have unparalled charisma; and they both have capitalized on their looks to draw the women crowd, while maintaining the male crowd. It's really a shame that this match has never happened.

not really sure how this would happen. maybe if the rock were to randomly guest host raw one day. dx would meet rocky backstage. they want to one up legacy. dx is hustling rocky right now to have their way/match stipulation. orton comes out of no where and is like what the hell is this.
orton starts talking about himself. if anyone should get a match with their own stipulation it should be the wwe champ (orton at the moment).

hhh, being arrogant, starts saying that orton got everything handed to him on a silver pladder. if it wasnt for his dad bob orton he probably wouldn't have risen to fame to fast. says certain people have to work hard to get in the position he's in. then hhh decides to go off on other 2nd or 3rd generation wrestlers about their fathers. rocky takes offense to that.
hbk comes to hhh's defense. later on, rock and orton are nackstage alone. orton says us 3rd gen. guys have to stick together.

main event time. hhh vs orton for like the 20th time. rocky is at ring side. orton Irish whips hhh, hhh bounces off the ropes, rocky pulls a leg and trips hhh. hhh gets pissed off. deja vu, rocky does it again. he starts to get heel heat. so much for the people's champ.
hbk comes down to the ring. rocky and hbk argue.

hbk says if he tries that shit again, he'll have to step in. rocky plays it off and boom, puchs hbk dead smack in the face. rocky is apparently on orton's side. hbk gets back up at super kicks rocky. half the crowd cheers while the other half is stunned. and there, here's the possibility for a rivalry between the two.

Paul Heyman said that if The Rock ever came back, it'd be good to set him up as being all "Hollywood" and arrogant as a heel, because of his film career. If The Rock came back full time, I think that'd work but, if he intended to leave again, I think he'd have to stay as a face for more people to still be interested in his movie career.
But if we went with the former idea, it'd be very easy for The Rock to get heat and have HBK take exception to it.
PPV - I'm going to say Wrestlemania.

Had The Rock stayed in WWE full time in 2003, a great time to have had this match with Shawn Michaels would have been SummerSlam of that very year. The Rock had just finished his story with Goldberg. And Shawn Michaels didn't seem to be doing anything after his fued with Jericho. This could have been built up nicely after RAW's June PPV leading up to SummerSlam. I would have liked to have seen Lesnar against Michaels too, but in 2004 had Lesnar not left the company.

HBK and the Rock is the greatest match that never happened.. But at this point I don't want it to happen. Why? The WWE doesn't deserve it. I wanted to see it really badly when the Rock first got his face push. They even had a little feud going between them with HBK screwing the Rock from a title on Smackdown.
At this point, the Rock vs HBK is too great an event for the WWE. Its also too good for the current fanbase who really don't deserve this. They deserve more Cena vs HHHs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Rock have some real life heat with HBK? I remember hearing something that dates back to like 1998 or so when Rock was still trying to come up and HBK didn't wanna put him over and Rock never forgot that. Maybe that was a rumor, but they could definately build something off that.

HBK could come out and brag how he has taken them all on and how he has beaten most of them. Then the Rock could come out and challenge that. They could bring in the real heat that they had against each other in the storyline. HBK holding Rock back (in Bret's book Hitman). HBK screwing the Rock out of the title at the first Smackdown. Thank you Spinnernet1 for posting this! This has always been my favorite dream match. Thought it was going to happen at WM21. In the past, the Rock said he never liked HBK and wasn't interested in wrestling him. But recently at last years Hall of Fame, the Rock said that HBK was one of the 3 guys he would love to wrestle. The fans were cheering for it and the Rock was laughing with HBK on stage about it. If it happened, HBK would have to be heel and and let the Rock get the win.

the rock agrees thinking he's fighting a mid card wrestler who on the night is injured by and replaced with triple h. the match end in dq after hhh uses a sledgehammer and shawn micheals comes in and they destroy the rock.
the next week on raw the rock announces he has found a partner and they have a tagmatch dx vs rock and christian(pushing him into main event and a fued with hhh). they both have a few promos against each other and it comes to the champianship match.

i would have it shawn michaels becomes the champ then rock guest hosts raw and says he's the peoples champ michaels saying he's the real champ the rock then says he would like to see who is the true champ. then the rock enters at 30 in the royal rumble and wins. michaels then says things like the rock should have never come back and the rock replies with some insults back before micheals gets the rock to fight somebody in a warm up match at no way out.

HBK comes off a big grudge match victory at the Royal Rumble. He says on Raw the next night that he is the greatest ever. The Rock makes a surprise return and says HE is the biggest star ever. In the elimination chamber at No Way Out, HBK is about to win the WWE title but the Rock interferes. The Rock says he dominated the attitude era while HBK was sitting at home. At Wrestlemania, it's a close match but the Rock just barely gets the win with the match lasting around 20 minutes to a half hour.

PART 2: The Rock. Which would lead up to a few weeks of them screwing each other outta the WWE title and regualr wins at RAW or SD. Then eventually they would face each other at a PPV. The match would feature a ton of late kickouts and a few finishers but you would need the Rock to win because he more the likely wouldnt even come back to WWE if his comeback was all built around a loss. You would have to do something realsitic so that they probably would both have to be faces which would cause a lot of them teamming before hand to take out some1 else for instance lets say Legacy or BId Show and Jericho. The Rock and Micheals would team up for a PPV and beat Legacy or Show/Jericho. Then a week after that one of the two, more then likely HBK would have to turn on

The rock takes over legacy and goes back to his "rock concerts" and makes fun of San Antonio. Shawn comes out and they start to brawl until legacy "evens" the field. for weeks they confront each other until they get to Royal Rumble. Shawn wins by dq when legacy takes him out, but the match is restarted. shawn plays possum, rock goes for the elbow and gets superkicked. end of story

I've seen a few clips (via Youtube) where Shawn Michaels helped The Rock vs. Triple H and Brock Lesnar.
There's also one where Michaels did a super kick on The Rock (in a fight with HHH).
