@gman8744 search that video and you'll get a big fat: "isn't this song similiar to Foolin' around by Buck Owens?" Or maybe you are the same dude who commented that maybe?
I like this duo here. Jimmy and Buck sound pretty good, and I imagine it was lots of fun for them to get together on this song. Jimmy has a fine voice. I've always liked his ballads better even tho they weren't quite as popular as his novelty songs I feel. Of course anything Buck sings has always been great. Thank you for posting. - Paula
Yes, it's in A and Buck can sing the tenor on the chorus. You can tell it's less "tense" sounding than the original in C. Also Tom Brumley muffs a lick (but quickly recovers), maybe he was confused being off 3 frets....
Jimmy Dean was paying the bills, he can call the key...
oh man he does me tooo!! I had to find out who he was...he's cute and all but he acts REALLY strange, watch his vid with Carl Smith...and his face shape is certainly odd.
I,too, would be frightened to meet his face in a back alley.I thought I was the only one.
Jimmy Dean was, and is, one of the best guys as well as one of the best looking guys in Country Music. This video makes his face look funny. This tape is over 40 years old. He SHOULD BE in the Country music Hall of Fame.
It looks like they're playing the song on A instead of C (the key on the original recording by Buck), probably to fit with Jimmy's voice. Great band!!!
For sure you heard it right. Btw, Buck did his own harmony on most of his early hits. If you listen closely, you can tell it's his voice doing the harmony; But Don always did a super job after he started singing that part too!! Great guys!!
Great stuff... the last minute of this video is especially interesting

Has anyone noticed this song is very similar to Heartaches by the Number by Guy Mitchell?

Met Buck and Jimmy in Oklahoma City, where Buck was working on the local TV for Mathis Brothers Furniture. I was in such awe of both of them.
