Love affairs, fist fights, break downs and drama are all just part of the script. Funny how most people can't truly grasp or come to terms with the fact that Hollywood isn't real. If you cut Kermit the Frogs strings he ends up like River Phoenix...

You are way off target, man. Phoenix was actually at the peak of popularity when he entered this project. Everyone in Hollywood wanted to work with him. It was a great risk he did doing this. He turned down heaps of cash and blockbuster roles he could have had.
I love Joaquin but I have to say, the trailer was better than the actual film. To me, "the drop of water" story was the best part of the whole movie so that's why I say this. I could watch the trailer over and over but I'm afraid the movie will sit on my shelf for quite some time (eternity). If it was footage of his REAL life then I would have found it all to be interesting. But the whole time I was watching it I knew it was phony and it just put me in a weird confused bewildered state of mind.

this movie totally changed the game, he basically got hollywood by the balls and twisted them round as many times as he could, he is showing us what hollywood is really like, what it really does. not what we are led to believe happens, he shows that with money and fame, comes loneliness, paranoia, insanity and loss.
I loved it. Loved the sex scenes. Loved everything else also but mostly the sex scenes. I also loved the part where he shaves his pubes and glues them to his face.

As I started to watch this movie, I was very excited to see that the
opening scene was filmed at a location in which I was just at 2 days
ago, a place called Maunawili Falls in Kailua, HI. Now; it looked
slightly different 30 years ago from what it does now, but it was for
sure that location.. Then moments later in the movie, it titled it "Huigra, Panama".....Really??? What a hypocritical lier. Wonder what else he LIED about?

It's a fantastic so called "documentary". If you haven't heard the big "thing" about the documentary i suggest you don't read the further than this and go watch "i'm still here" first............So i was really amazed when i found out this was a hoax and what a great actor he is!

Just finished watching this documentary, I dont know what to say, it was amazing. To see Joaquin step outside the spotlight and into a life so dark and empty was just simply incredible. I have nothing but the up most respect for this man, this was nothing like I've seen before.. Joaquin your amazing.

this movie totally changed the game, he basically got hollywood by the balls and twisted them round as many times as he could, he is showing us what hollywood is really like, what it really does. not what we are led to believe happens, he shows that with money and fame, comes loneliness, paranoia, insanity and loss.

Watching it, "I'm Still Here" captures the most brilliant form of Documentary (or mockamentary) I, and the world, have ever seen. It was almost too perfect. At face value, I'm Still Here is a tragedy of a Movie Star gone wrong. But underneath, it's a Joker laughing at us all thinking it's real. Unbelievable :)

i think he's fooled you into thinking the movie was fake. Everyone knows that Joaquin Phoenix has had a drug problem. I mean his own brother (River Phoenix) died of drugs at the Viper Room. I hate to say it but this is probably legit, & an amazing PR "saved my ass" thing. It's method acting at its finest, bc its real. =(

@DillBob93 it was all fake, Casey Affleck is the director and writer of the documentary. He and phoenix came out with the idea
some parts of the documentary are scripted and made up, but most part of it was improvised and a hoax
