  • Linux is free as in freedom.

You may charge for a distribution if you like.

  • Linux不是免費嗎@@????

  • haha linux is for free and they want 130 bucks

  • @HongKongKanto Free is'nt gratis...

  • @HongKongKanto i think you have the wrong kinda freedom in mind :)

  • they're charging you linux os...?

    wow...

  • Redflag Linux ?

  • @DeathNotice87

Yes. But I guess its variations are free for personal use at list - you can download from off. site

  • You don't even have the ability to type a coherent sentence and you are calling other people stupid? Good grief, Charlie Brown!

  • This ad can never be seen in China. Because China is so developed and modern, and Chinese people are too smart that can't create a retard advertisement like this. But I do believe you guys can see it in America.

  • smart/chinese = pleonasm

  • =)) good one

  • this is actually a Hong Kong ad, which has nothing to do with the Mainland China and the Chinese Gov. the aim of the ad is only to promote people to support some business software in Chinese, that is designed by the Chinese.

  • 香港人好搞笑:)

  • ROFL ROFL ROFL such a fucked up funny ad

  • What the Hell?

I thought Linux was Free and we see Chinese selling it for $134 while I got my Ubuntu in the mail for free

  • Thats because it is Enterprise Linux and has it's own desktop environment!

  • Could someone please translate to english what they are saying and singing in this adverstisement? Thanks in advance.

  • wtf?

  • LOL this is what actors (and their make ups look like back in the 1950s and 60s when the PRC took over china) lol

  • Am I mistaken or are they all women? Anyway, I dislike it, because I don't like Chinese gov.

They don't support software freedom. They just see it's the way things will go. And it saves them money.

I dislike Chinese gov.-it's oppressive to Christians. I think it's worst from both systems (communist and capitalist). It's not even a republic, since the regime won't even grant even the basic civil rights. Ah... I dislike everyone who works with China. Only money. That's all they're interested in.

  • Ok just how much do you know about the situation over there?

I'm glad that people are working with China and bringing it back up. It deserves our support after all the shit we and Europe pulled on it in the 1800's.

  • I've read a book, so first hand from one Christian. Also, I watched a lot of vids, and I keep track of them by News. But you're right. I don't know much of their history. Still, that's no excuse whatever it might be (if indeed it was how you implied).

  • Aww, poor oppressed christians. If christianity didn't get so popular, the world would be so much more advanced and successful now. Check it up, nearly every philosopher scientist or inventer from christian countries were oppressed.

'Does that comply with outdated, ignorant christian philosophy? No? Right, off with your head, or burn at the stake or rejection from society! Hey, If old Popey likes ya, you might get away with just being tortured until you 'repent' and deny any theories you have.'

  • Middle ages - 21st century. Middle ages - 21st century.

    Hmm...

  • ? I never mentioned the middle ages or 21st century

  • Alright, in that case, I should inform you that "we" (actually, it was for the most part governments) stopped practice of burning at stakes "we" (it was your fathers, and I doubt about mine) practiced in middle ages. What's more, it was never practiced in Asia (China, Korea etc). And now, 21st century, we so "evolved" out of shackles of faith into this great science powered concentration camps (N. Korea) and prisons (China). An electric stick is much more humane than a stake, I guess.

  • evolved in quotes, don't tell me you're creationist aswell. You're still as chained to your beliefs as ever, you just don't have the power to manipulate peoples minds as much as you used to. This is all so biased. I could say that christianity gave people something to believe in when they needed it, and preached good when no-one else did, but then you could say that science is good too, as you sit on your synthetic fibred sofa with your laptop and electric lights and central heating.(contd.)

  • This might have sense if science and (MY) religion were in contradiction. But it's not so. In fact, science disproves superstitions, and is good that way.

You may have thought I said science was evil, but I most certainly didn't. I just said it isn't a moral compass. It sheads light on things of this world, but how you use information is not of its concern.

  • The Bible preaches good, and it uses fables and 'miracles' and a miriad of different concepts to articulate these good intentions. Unfortunately, some fucker somewhere along the line realised that a lot of power and wealth could be gleaned from claiming the bible as the absolute and infallible word of GOD, this big ass scary bastard that'll annihilate you if you don't give lots of gold to the church.

  • I get what you're saying now about "Middle ages - 21st century. Middle ages - 21st century.

    Hmm... "

So, because we're in the 21st century now, the middle ages don't exist? Scientific progress doesn't happen instantly. These practices have (mostly) stopped now, but they still hampered science when they were around. The metaphors in the bible have been proven to be just that time and time again, Its only a matter of time before god is disproven beyond reasonable doubt. Then true christian..

  • I wouldn't hold my breath.

If you decide opening your heart in the meantime, I'm there for you.

  • Yeah..some Chinese brands still have to make efforts in terms of advertising, especially this one. I am not even certain of any positive business impact on Chinese population. However, what is interesting to observe is the rapid evolution of Linux ads since this one was diplayed... the brand may have changed advertising agency as they turn completly more global and look like more as international ones. Seem that China fast booming could be applied to the advertising section as well.

  • I think they were aiming at the local population who knows the background story etc. It was pretty funny in my eyes . The time period used in this commercial is so called the " cultural revolution" Which echoes the slogans they used in this commercial. Also at the end, on the flag it says " support traditional culture"--- kinda like the " support California grown vegies /fruits jala jala

  • jajajajajajajajajajajajjajajajajajajajajaj

    that was funny, aajjajaj

  • lol this is cool

  • I love Linux but WTF!!! d|o.0|b

  • er... i have nothing to say bout it...

    crap
