The Lord Jesus Christ was the prime example of charity. All of his suffering was for us, and he was willing to help us no matter hard the trial he faced. We strive as Members of the Church of Latter Day Saints to follow in his example in all things. Though we are not perfect the Lord has paid our price of sin if we are willing to follow him and his teachings.
I don't necessarily have an opinion on religion. I call myself a Christian, and love both God and Christ, but I leave it at that. I trust that the Gates of Heaven will open for me for being an honest, hardworking, and overall decent person during my time here on Earth, regardless of what I drink or smoke.

My husband and I lost our daughter, a twin with mild Autism to cancer the day after their 5th birthday. I'm not really sure I can listen to this message now without synicism, but I was able to listen to it. I'm not comforted by it but I am at the point now where I can hear it without throwing my laptop out the front door the crash in the middle of the street. It's all about where you are!

I was blind and could not see. I eventually found rehabilitation services and could have surgery to restore my sight. But, I needed many times where transportation was necessary to go several hours distance for surgery. God sent an angel to me. Who without thought of inconvenience was willing to take the time and the expense to get me to those appointments. I want Bro Monson to know that I am one of many who received his birthday wish. I now have full vision thanks to an angel whom he sent.

its so true, when you humble yourself and serve others, the greatest peace comes into your life. I'm not going to share my hard experiences. . what I do know is that when I've been in dark places and felt alone, and when I look for opportunities to help others and forget about my own problems, life becomes so much easier (and fun) to live.
i struggle with ocd and it has been proven to be a huge trial in my life. i was feeling completely hopeless with my future, when i watched this video. i dont cry very often, but this video brought me to tears as he talked about the atonement of Jesus Christ. i love the Lord and i have hope in the words he spoke

@DrTerminus It is infinitely more important to be a good person than to be a good mormon or christian or Jew or Muslim or Daoist or Buddhist. They are not necessarily mutually inclusive. A good person, though faulted as we all are, is still better than the best religious label you can dish out. You don't need a label to bear positive adjectives about yourself and that is why I have problems with religious, nationalist, political and social factionalism. Please approve this comment.

Being a police officer for just about 10 yrs, I have seen a lot of sorrow, suicides, did cpr on 2.5month old child who died and other such things...i always am able to block out the sadness during those incidents....while listening to these talks, can't block out the tears coming down my face...the spirit is overwhelming...i am so great full for the gospel in my life and the change it has helped me make to progressive towards living with our savior and heavenly father once again.
I know this is a true principle. When we are suffering or going through trials... if we serve others, it lifts our hearts in the process. And both are people are blessed.
Home destroyed by fire in 2007, laid off in 2008 and again in 2009. I have been helped much these past few years. Making the time to serve others, losing yourself in the service of the Lord, is the best balm to apply to a sorely tried soul.

Wow. This was so powerful to me. I had to watch it a again and it brought tears to my eyes both times. This makes me want to reach out to others and not get so self involved with my own life's trails and hardships. But share other people's burdens and well. So we all get benefit from each other and remember we are not in this alone.

Elder Cook has clearly experienced trials, just like everyone has (including me). I love the suggestion that we can reach out to others when we ourselves are hurting. That is certainly what Christ did!

This message has made me realize why Heavenly Father put me at the job I have. I work as an account specialist for Dish network. It is my job to help customers when Technical Support and Customer service cannot. The main thing I do is work with people to ether get there bill down, or, if we have to, disconnect the account. Wonderful message! The title should be changed to Hope Ya Know, "I" had a Hard Time instead of "we" Had a Hard Time. This would fit better with Elder Cook's comments.

We all have had hard times. 1Ne 3:7 "I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them." There is nothing we can't do.
I watched this and thought "I really need to send this to......" I was brought to tears as I watched. What I need to do is to cry with my friends who are going through such tough trials and help them!
This is a beautiful message. Not too long ago, when I was praying for help during a rough time in my life, I was reminded of the scripture times. All those times when God's children would turn to Him during hard times, then forget Him when times were good. I try to remind myself of that so I can make a better effort to tell the Lord, "Thank you so much" as well as ... "Ya know, I'm having a really hard time!". God bless to you all...
I really love this video. I am about to lose my job for the 2nd time during this economic depression. There is a really good chance that I will lose my home as well. I fear that I just can't do enough to support my family. There have been many times where I have gone to the Lord to say, "Hope you know, I'm having a hard time". Sorry to hear about your job situation it's not fun After I had lost my job. I first found my way to the temple then to my neighbor's homes to see if I could serve in any kind of way. In 1992 I lost my professional job in an imploding industry. I never lost Faith in my Heavenly Father or of Jesus Christ. To make ends meet I drove Limousine, School Bus and finally the Lord provided me a small business of servicing a refrigerated food display. I traveled extensively, made new friends, held my head high and came through the experience with a renewed Love for Jesus Christ through His atonement for me. I am serving in my third mission since retiring and loving it thoroughly.
This message is a message that hits home to me and my family! The challenge that we are currently going through has been hard, but without the atonement we wouldn't have been able to make it through the trial. Thank you for helping me through my hard time. We all can know more fully about hope and faith but we must pay the price of suffering from life's free trials. If we suffer enough we might just be able to have the faith we yearn to have. It may be suffering from our own foolishness but may also be from life itself. I hope ya know we had a hard time indicates that hope can come after enduring the trial.

Wow. This was so powerful to me. I had to watch it a again and it brought tears to my eyes both times. This makes me want to reach out to others and not get so self involved with my own life's trails and hardships. But share other people's burdens and well. So we all get benefit from each other and remember we are not in this alone.

When my husband and I were going through our hard times, GOD was there. he helped us out through the very rough patches. It is true, help your brother! and I have since been able to help others as well, and feel so much better! I am so blessed to be Mormon, and hope that one day, my husband will be as well. , And May GOD strengthen your family as well.

as i enter the 1 month mark until i leave for 9+ plus months form my family, i know hard times. trying to ease the burdon of those is how Marines get threw hard times. its wounderfull to be leaving sealed, and knowing the gosple, because i know a am prepaired if i do not come home. and i know my fellow brothers, will make sure the burdon on my wife is lessoned. i know she will be taken care of. This message has made me realize why Heavenly Father put me at the job I have. I work as an account specialist for Dish network. It is my job to help customers when Technical Support and Customer service cannot. The main thing I do is work with people to ether get there bill down, or, if we have to, disconnect the account. Now I hope I can continue to help the customers out with the spirit that this talk gave me.

When I think of the hardships in my own life, when I am sad or depressed, I reach out to others; I concern myself with their problems, and in helping them cope, I find mine are easier to bear.

Wonderful message! The title should be changed to Hope Ya Know, "I" had a Hard Time instead of "we" Had a Hard Time. This would fit better with Elder Cook's comments.

This is a beautiful message. Not too long ago, when I was praying for help during a rough time in my life, I was reminded of the scripture times. All those times when God's children would turn to Him during hard times, then forget Him when times were good. I try to remind myself of that so I can make a better effort to tell the Lord, "Thank you so much" as well as ... "Ya know, I'm having a really hard time!". God bless to you all...

I really love this video. I am about to lose my job for the 2nd time during this economic depression. There is a really good chance that I will lose my home as well. I fear that I just can't do enough to support my family. There have been many times where I have gone to the Lord to say, "Hope you know, I'm having a hard time". I hope the Lord continues to bless me, and in addition bless me with a means to support my lovely family.

Sorry to hear about your job situation it's not fun After I had lost my job. I first found my way to the temple then to my neighbor's homes to see if I could serve in any kind of way. I lost myself in the service of the Lord and to my fellow neighbors and found peace there. I know that the Lord will bless those that will find service. In 1992 I lost my professional job in an imploding industry. I never lost Faith in my Heavenly Father or of Jesus Christ. To make ends meet I drove Limousine, School Bus and finally the Lord provided me a small business of servicing a refrigerated food display. I traveled extensively, made new friends, held my head high and came through the experience with a renewed Love for Jesus Christ through His atonement for me. I am serving in my third mission since retiring and loving it thoroughly.
