lol sorry to post this in here again but on wiki it says:"Zaum had some demos available a few years ago through Tool's management, Larrikin. Lately the members Marco Fox, Danny Carey, and Mother Goose have been too busy to put something out, but are hoping to go through over twenty hours of material to put something together." quote from tool website.
@C0k3d lately on the TOOL website a photo was posted. It showed danny in front of some ENORMOUS vinage keyboard/sythesiser contraption. it was like 2 meters high. and the description said that danny and chris pitman are working on something. no more details. i have no idea if this will concer ZAUM or not, but i think there's a chance that watherver they'll be doing, it will have something from the ZAUM project in it. but for the ZAUM itself - i dont think they'll reunite or sth like this.
@w26895 IMO too much time has passed (15 years) to come back to that. it would be awesome if they released sth, but i think there's a minimal chance for that. however, fath no more reunited for some shows, so did smashing pumpkins and RATM. so miracles happen :)
@C0k3d hmm... you're right, on wikipedia they're longer. my guess would be that wikipedia is wrong, because i heard those songs from a few different sources and the were always as long as my uploads. sounded exactly the same. can't be sure though. maybe there's a source existing somewhere which has different versions of those tracks. but my guess would be that the person who wrote the article on wikipedia either made a mistake.
@w26895 Yeah i think it's probably a mistake....on wikipedia Merkaba has 9:36 , maybe he confused it with the Merkaba that Tool made....i dk about the rest of them.
@C0k3d sometimes when u put the same mp3 on different computers or players you'll get different lenght of the track. however, it shouldn't be such a big difference. i dunno. i think my uploads are the correct versions.
@alex035 well, those "rare looking" are mostly from official websites of TOOL and Pigmy Love Circus, there's a lot from google images and places like flicr
Wow. Took me 15 years to even know Zaum exists let alone hear these 4 songs. Thanks for posting this man. Absolutely amazing. Too bad it never really materialized for them. This is epic stuff man.
TOOL has a song with this same title on their box set CD Salival. It sounds nothing like this though lol. i wonder why they named it that... its not a cover. its much cooler and in 11/8 time most of the song.
@AstralOpeth tool had been playing the song for quite some time as an intro to sober. if you notice on the salival recording, the bass hits that double D note in the same timing as sober, so it transitions quite well.
i havent listened to it in a while but i remember it ending with words only: "Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent, without judgement." and then it just ends. or are you talking about this version of it?
Sound like Tool? Have you listened to Zaum? They sound nothing like Tool.
This particular song is kind of an outlier, in fact- and as some have already pointed out in this thread, it does seem to take heavy influence from Floyd. (not a thing wrong with that, all musicians are influenced by their predecessors.)
Me, I like Danny; by any measure he is an exceptional drummer. I also like any man who's comfy in a kilt.
Nah never listened to tool... what do you mean they dont sound like tool listen to the drum beat in merkaba its about as toolish as u can get, the bass as well, i agree that pink floyd has some influence here but id say more king crimson than pink floyd
@niginit great gig in the sky is one of my favorite songs and ive always wanted to cover the two songs and combine them. you know " Welcome to the new merkaba! Oh woah wa oh!! ect."
get it right- 'Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun'-this feels like an homage to that early Floyd hit. (if you've never seen it check out the version on "Live From Pompeii")
I was a little imprecise, what i meant was that the keys in the second part of Merkaba are similar to The Great Gig... keys, and the overall feeling of the song is Floyd-like. and i guess you're right, Merkaba has something from Set the Controls... too.
that's exactly what my friend - a great Pink Floyd fan - said, he said that Merkaba sounds like Dark Side of the Moon, and indeed, the keys are similar to The Great Gig in the Sky
some of these pictures i found on the Pigmy Love Circus official website, some of them are from TOOL website, some from Flickr. A few years of collecting. The three pictures you mentioned are all from the Pigmy site. It's not a real police foto, he's just messing ;) the fight seems to be real though, apparently Danny got really pissed at somebody.
i wish i had a live recording of ZAUM, as far as i know they were doing plenty of improvisation, it must have been awesome. unfortunately i never found one so far :(
The Apparatus is my fave tune.
