Yes, they're the bias plys. I did like them, but recently made the switch to a slightly larger (37") Bogger. My most recent video (Project Trail Toy 2 of 2) shows some videos and stills with the Boggers on. The Iroks did great on the rocks, but I believe the Boggers work just as well, and are a superior mud tire. I personally don't care for the mud, but as you know, often it is un-avoidable when you are on a greasy trail. The Iroks are much softer, I ran them at 9 psi, the Boggers I run at 6.
@Mauistyl Good call! That is exactly what we did. When these vids were shot, the temps were soaring near 110*, so we spent alot of time pulling over and taking a dip, cool off for a while and then back to 'wheeling. If you have not yet done so... I have another vid of Disney during the Big Meat Run (BMR), check it out and that will give you an idea of the caliber of people that frequent this park. My 'yota is a small fry compared to some of the rigs that run down there! Is that your silver Toy?
hope you weren't bummed about the bitch slappin the rocks put on your yota. thats how my jeep looks now. but i've never seen a pretty offroad vehicle.
Nope, that's what it was built for. In the most recent vid (Big Meat Run 2010) you can see that both rear corners are smashed in, and I lost my passenger taillight! It comes with the territory.
Thanks.... and can I say I like your Jimmy, without it sounding totally screwed up? Probably not, but nice rig, anyway... always cool to see a removable top K5/ Jimmy with some one ton running gear!
Thank you! In these videos, the top and hood are sun-faded, so last fall I painted them satin black, that's the only thing that I changed. What day did you see me? I hope it was Fri or Sat as I was plagued on Sunday, (wheelbase bug bit me on the waterfall and I failed to make the climb, then I broke a birfield on Little Blue and had to be winched out). It is in my garage getting a set of chromoly birfields now. ;)
I have a few vids from bmr, but we spent most of the time filming the big boys!
@cdm121880 yea i seen u on saturday i was there in my 4runner but i actually failed to make the waterfall also it just wasant its day but it was way more fun just sittin back and watching
i love disney. been there a few times. but ever time i went they had the dam opened more so you couldnt really drive threw the water fall. the river crossing was allways fun though
I love it too, just wish I were closer to it, I would like to 'wheel down there once a month! I've seen videos where the water is really flowing, looks like a lot of fun.
nice yota and very nice drving you guys are skilled. i have a blue yota too but mine is a 1994 extended cab with no lift atm im still in highschool and broke but i still have fun in it. :D
Thanks. The important thing is to always have fun with this hobby. I see you are from Canada. You guys sure know how to 'wheel.... always seeing Canadians on Top Truck Challenge. Two of my favorite 'Yotas on TTC were piloted by Canadians.... Tim Dzamon's 502 powered FJ40 and Robb Rutlidge had a 'mog axled 6.5 diesel powered FJ45. Not to mention Robin's white knight, Jason's 1000hp Cummins powered 'burban, Corey's stepside Chevy, Bob's Blazer, and the list goes on and on........
@bisnach23 thats the same truck i have. blue '94 ext. cab w/ no lift. i plan on getting some shackles and bj spacers to start. best truck i know. and im still in highschool also
No kiddin? I've been hearing about the Big Meat Run from Chris (Boogymac on TTORA forum) He drives a red yota like yours cept he's got some armor on his. I'm from the Parkville/Riverside area of KC.
I've heard Disney is pretty cool with lots of rocks. Kansas Rocks is a nice place, but seems everytime I go there, it had rained a day or two before. So it's nice and greasy in most areas.
I think we are going back down in March for the "Big Meat Run". Camping? It is perfect, Hogan's campground is attatched to the park, so you can dolly your trailer down at your campsite, and drive your trail rig into the orv park from there. I'm from St. Joseph, MO, where are you from?
Not much mud, but a little. There are quite a few wooded trails back in the timber that I would imagine can get pretty greasy after a good rain, but we were there in the midst of a drought, and 110* temps! Thanks for the comment.
Thank you! And yes, 22re... box stock. Great, reliable, efi engine, no guts, but with the dual cases and crawler gears you could move the truck with a cordless drill in place of the engine! LOL. Horsepower in the rocks is only good for showing off and breaking parts.
I would have loved to have been able to just buy one of the many s.a.s. kits out there, but they are just too pricey! Instead, I just fabbed everything myself to go the inexpensive route. Swing over to my channel and check out the build video to see how it all came together. I build aerial boom trucks for a living, so having those resources helped alot. As long as we pay for material and wait until lunch break to work on our own projects, they are usually cool with it. Thanks.
I happen to enjoy Rise Against, plus I thought this peticular song to be appropriate, considering the repetitave ending chorus, "we crawl, we crawl, we crawl, all over you!" Hey, I have an idea: you should make a video of your own, then you can use music that's a bit less, you know,..... crappy! Thanks for the comment.
I'm sorry you took offense to me saying your crappy music is crappy. I did enjoy your video, however any video of mine would be less inticing than this since I have a barely lifted cj5 that would get stuck on the trail leading to where you're vehicles are playing. The music fucking sucks and you're lucky your vehicles are so well built or I'd be talking mad shit:) Kudos.
Thanks! Glad you like it. I am sure you can relate to all of the work that goes into these rigs... (I have seen your S-10 vid.), sweet rig, by the way!
Thanks! The rock crawling/ off road world has seen an explosion of Toyotas getting involved over the last decade or so. It seems they have finally proven themselves as very tough and capable trail rigs, on top of the reliable engine and drivetrain they are built with from the factory. I'm hooked! Plans have already started for an FJ40 project in the future, once my son is old enough to go out on the trail with me. Still have some work to do on this one though, (cage, 4-link rear) stay tuned.....
Home-made out of schedule 40, we have a bender at work, so I would draw my pattern here in my shop then bend the pipe at work. Brought it home and welded it all up, lined the center with 1/4" plate, counter-sink 3/8 stainless hardware to my home fabbed mount, 1/4" gusset around the radius above the front driveshaft and welded the 1/4" tabs and gussets to the frame... voila! I'll send you some pics.
you are nasty with that fish in your mouth.............does it remind you of your date Saturday nite????lol

I have to admit that's a nice rig you got there. What size tires are you runnin' on that Toyota?
I'm hoping I can get to visit Disney sometime this year in my 4Runner.
