@notasixpack Ok, that would explain my problem then. I'm using a 12 and only getting just over 4mins.
Also, did you have any major problems with your EXI 500? Mine has been plagued with issues. Mainly stripping of the soft aluminum parts like the servo clamps, stabilizer boom clamp and the tail box. replaced with Align parts except the servo clamps which just stripped out today.
I've also got a really bad vibration which has loosened every Loctited screw in the tail section. head's balanced 2
@jminors ouch. Here's my list of replaced parts, some align, some Tarot (from HK but really good). Align: tail servo clamps, plastic tail case, plastic tail pitch slider, main gear, tail drive gear, auto gear landing gear, paddles, tail blades. Tarot: upper/lower mixing arms, headblock, Had a nice metal tail case but trashed twice in crashes, so now using align plastic. No problems stripping servo clamps, don't overtighten? Vibration - ugh. try an align tail drive gear + bearings?
how did you get the belt on the inside of the frame where the main gear wheels attach to it to make it spin? I cant get it on and idk of anyway to pop it up to slip it on? and why are there four servo places when you use only 3 servos on the frame? is the 4th one the tail servo? thanks for the help im kinda new if you didnt notice.
@wtrcf123 if I'm understanding the question, you take the boom block halves apart, snake the tail case and belt thru boom, put the gear on the belt, THEN put the 2 boom block halves together (all outside the heli). Tighten it up enough to not move, then mount the boom block, boom, tail all together. THe 2 servo mounts on the rear is a choice. USe the left OR right one (trex manual says right?) Tail servo mounts on boom!
@notasixpack yea i had to end up doing that but thanks. Ooooo ok the makes since. Which part that comes with the heli do you use to hold the tail servo on there? there is one with 3 holes and 1 with 1 hole. and do use one to mount the vertical and horizontal stabilizer.
Hey nice vid. I see you have a white maingear, is it just a trex 500 maingear? I find my stock exi maingear is slightly off center, causing vibrations. Just thought I'd ask before I go and buy a set of trex gears.
@iliketodrawstuff The white one.. I think I got that from hk - parts . com. But I've never had problems from a slightly out of round maingear. Still able to fly. If it makes the entire heli wobble at speed then that's different. The trex one will work but I think it's slightly larger so you might have to move your motor and pinion.
@notasixpack I see, thanks. I managed to get it slightly less wobbly by screwing the plate in after turning it 90 degrees. Guess I'll stick with it, and no its not making the heli wobble, but you can kinda tell the gear is off center due to the sound in the air. I have seen several exi 500 vids on you tube that have the same sort of sound. Yours doesn't,it sounds pretty smooth, that's why I thought I'd ask you about that maingear.
What size battery and brand you using i got one coming today and still having issues with trying to find a good battery esc combo. I see you run volcano esc i have one of those in a 40a for my 450.
it was wagging. Hard to see cuz the camera itself is wagging =).. but it turns out right side tail case bearing was sloppy. I swapped with left side bearing, so it flies fine now, but will replace both very near future.
13t pinion works well on most 5mm shaft mottors ...exept for typhon motor u need a 11t hard to find......

@ekali420 i have both the 11t and 10t. But now I run 8S, 1300kv with 12T. perfect.

What size pinion are you using with your setup? 11,12,13, and how long are your flight times?
jminors 1 year ago
@jminors 11T (hard to find!). I think I have my timer set to 5 or 6 minutes. Sometimes I fly it pretty hard.

@wtrcf123 there's a great exi500 thread on rcgroups. Lots of pictures.

np, FYI the Zippy 6S 3000 mA battery doesn't fit well. I heard the Turnigy 6S 3000 battery does fit, so I have 2 of those on order.
