UMMM news flash...this is not what most dog breeders in Japan are like. This is an example of one bad breeder being exposed by a local person. Good for the guy with the camera, but don't think that this is what dog breeding is about in Japan.
@kenkencat Actually, I have lived in Japan for a long time, and work with many vets and breeders. I have never seen anything like this in real life, and I have been all over Japan to many different breeders. This is part of my job.
@brentrex1975 well then I'd like to invite you to ARK (Animal Refuge Kansai) the largest animal shelter in Japan the next time you're in Osaka. You can check out ARK's YouTube page for more video footage of the norm. Martin Fackler of the NYT's has also written about the deplorable conditions in the Japanese breeding industry.
Absolutely disgusting!!!Shame on those Japanese people for treating animals like this!!They should be sentenced to live in this same exact place that the dogs are in for however long they were there!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to be sick. Asswholes around the world...DAMN. No offense...I guess America and most part of britain is just nicer than most places...there is a lot more places but I dont feel like naming. Not saying japan is a bad place either..People just need some laws:)
@MaNiMaBaLLa You can't say that a country is better than another with animals! There are stupid people all around the world. Don't know if THIS is typical to Japan, but believe me, it's possible to find that kind of place in the USA or the UK too. For example, we have "pets shop" ! And believe me, the way we breed animals before they go into a pet shop is AWFUL! Quite similar to the video, unfortunately.
@TheJustAnonymous Wow, I posted on this video so long ago. Almost been 2 years now, My comment wasn't logical at all, I realize what pet shops around the world do, sadly it's kind've a disgrace but I mean in my opinion there are more animals/pets then humans and not every human wants a pet...so sadly these animals are the victim of bad things that the pet shops do.
It doesnt look much different than American puppymills and backyard breeders. When you buy from pet stores, this is the typical condition that they often come from.
Oh this is so sad, those poor dogs living in conditions as such. This is really mean and yes some humans can be so stupid, sick and cruel! I wish certain people were banned from owning animals, just like i wish certain people were banned from having children.
I hope someone released everyone of these poor dogs - oh I dispair - this is so unnecessary - it is so cruel ! NEW ANIMAL PROTECTION LAWS IN CHINA ? YA RIGHT !
your point being? the topic of discussion is breeders in Japan. How is the situation in America relevant? And while it is true that places such as this exsist in America, it is also true that the US has more potent animal protection laws and stricter enforcement. There is none to speak of here in Japan.
Ken, check out the videos of puppymills in america...you will see very similar places, and theyre inspected by the USDA and APPROVED. But the USDA doesnt shut down ones that fail, they just give them "positive coaching" which means nothing to them.
there are breeders like this throughout the countryside in Japan. plus there is no animal welfare system in this country and no amimal police. Unacceptable for the country with the world's second largest economy.
@JapaneseChick123 Shame on Japan for not taking care of it's companion animals!

While laws are helpful, more important is leadership from the veterinary community, welfare groups speaking with one voice, and an inquisitive media.
