Sad news. She is one of my favorite singers - a monumentally gifted artist.
We still have Vishnevskaya (not a great friend to Arkhipova) but still one of the immortals of the 20th c, and certainly one of the most supreme artists of the Russian tradition. They recorded a superb version of the Snow Maiden with Svetlanov conducting, also a very great Tsar's Bride with Mansurov at the podium.
May merciful God receive her soul. By now almost all great singers and artists of the golden operatic past have passed away (except Zeani, Olivero and Simionato).
Oh yes, of course, she is still with us, thankfully. But it is sad that so many of them left us. There is no more such artistry as theirs was among contemporary singers. :(
