  • If he didnt fuck off and get an article 15 he wouldnt of gotten extra duty and this wouldnt of happened your cousin is to blame !

  • Please like @children of ft bragg facebook page Support these parents!

  • All levels of government, wether it is the military or a school district, are poisoning us all through their continued negligence. They then simply shrug it off as "Oh, we might have made a small mistake here, but it is not really our fault". The reality, it actually is there fault. They are paid to be in charge and to look out for these types of situations and to keep us all safe. This includes the safety of soldiers in non-combat zones, as described in this video.

  • I know asbestos is not great for you but soldiers are by no means the only people who come into contact with this. Plumbers, carpenters etc. see more asbestos than most would like to admit. It doesn’t matter where it is dumped because once you stop breaking it up and leave it alone the fibres will not float around in the air for people to breath. I found some asbestos rock on a walk recently so it's not that uncommon. Just avoid it if possible.

  • yeah, no surprise that the usa doesn't care about its own soldiers. so many people want to "support our troops," but most of our troops are treated poorly as pawns.

you've got my deepest sympathies and hopefully everything will turn out okay.

  • @evillurkswithinusall i scond that, its a terrible cover up thats going on all over the world by goverments, its out and out murder , they have known asbesstos, was bad for years, but put profit before people, my mother inlaw died recently from it, she worked as a teacher, in england they call it the teachers disease, never mind all the construction workers that are predicted to die of it in the comeing years, the bastards,

  • fuck the USA

  • @defoliatedMYmaple And the USA says fuck you back :)

  • @McDogginified God pity the sheep who follows rather than leads... Be the Shepherd my McDouble brother... Think for yourself my weak one... BE TRUE TO YOU.

  • they don't care that's the simple fact... It's like you're just a number to them it's not a conspiracy it's a blind eye "I didn't sign up for this ... I wish I could go back"

  • Woww if the guy new it was asbestos tiles they cud at least gave them some type off ppe even if it is jus floor tiles

  • I am disgusted by this video. wow.

  • <--- army vet. This isn't suprising at all. It's really up to civilians to get this fixed. Soldiers are ignored and get greased if they pop up as a squeeky wheel.

  • While Asbestos is dangerous & exposure should be avoided, the chance of getting a related disease usually depends upon exposure length & concentration. It was part of construction for over 100 years & it's only really those who are exposed to large doses for extended periods who have health problems. Also, certain types of Asbestos are more dangerous than others & you may find the type used is not as bad... Even still the Army has been negligent - dusk masks would've been better than nothing

  • Asbestos tile is hazardous but thankfully no pipe or boiler insulation was involved. I remove asbestos for a living, 20+ years now and my lungs aren't the greatest. This is with protection. The boiler material is very high in asbestos, so it keeps it well insulated. Tile is on the lower side.

  • This needs more views!

  • The good news for your cousin is that Chrysotile asbestos more commonly causes asbestosis, whereas crosidolite, or blue asbestos more commonly causes mesothelioma. The reason is in the fibres themselves... white asbestos fibres are shorter and softer, and to a certain extent they can be broken down by the body...blue asbestos can't. Mesothelioma kills you within a year or so once you have it, you can live with asbestosis. Advise your cousin not to smoke as this increases the risk of lung disease

  • @jawajawa350 Incredible as it may sound, Tony Blair rubber stamped a three year 'asbestos amnesty' as part of a trade deal with Canada in 1997... this mean't that asbestos containing products were imported into the UK and used in the building industry for three whole years unknown to people using it, beleiving asbestos to have been banned. I would point out that anyone who knowingly exposes anyone to asbestos is a criminal. My brother was exposed here in the UK as well as many customers working

  • @jawajawa350 correction, customers visiting the large Sainsburys supermarket store he worked in when they removed asbestos containing ceiling tiles. Knowing they contained asbestos sainsburys decided to do the work at night, but rather than remove the stock from the shelves, they simply threw plastic sheets over. The following morning, my brother and others job was to wipe dust from packets of biscuits, fruit, vegetables, cans of beer, cosmetics etc etc. To this day, who knows how many people...

  • @jawajawa350 were exposed?? Another case I heard about involved the good old London Underground. A story I read in the newspaper told of how a train de-railed upon entering a station and hit a wall 'showering awaiting passangers with deadly blue asbestos'. If this is true, and I'm told by contractors I have spoken to that this is the case... then every Underground passanger is exposed to blue asbestos every time they travel. Finally, there is no excuse for negligence... even less for ignorance!

  • 25% sounds like a high amount of A in the tile. it is usually a lot less (under10%)

As far as disposal The tile gets labeled packaged and dumped as (construction demo debris) any landfill. You should look in what a "permisable exposure limit" Its a OSHA or EPA term.

    Just tryin to help

  • Non-friable VAT and mastic are not much of a hazard. Yeah its wrong to have them do the work but its not like they had to scrape 98% amosite spray-on. This is like comparing a bic lighter to a 10,000 acre forest fire. It gets a lot more dangerous than this in the abatement world. I personally would do this without a resperator if I were offered a choice.

  • gotta love the brass....they care sooooo much for their troops.....Come on NCOs take care of your troops, if not you than who will...

  • One fibre in the lung will start Mesothelioma. Dont even touch this shit .

  • Bollocks!

  • As my troop safety NCO working off my Art. 15 I was ordered to remove asbestose tiles. One trip to the safety office with a discusion with the Squadron safety officer turned that detail off.

Be smart about what you do. Any industrial work needs to be researched before preformed.

  • yep the 8 inch tiles are loaded with the stuff the brass new it and we pulled them up all the fraggen time and yes i spent five years in the 82nd airborne and lived with it

  • what if you were exposed to asbestos for an hour? should it be a concern to me. i was only exposed to asbestos for an hour, i didn't know what asbestos was until today.

  • I don't think that it will be a problem.

  • @KiingJulian I wouldn't worry much about it. We're all exposed to asbestos at some point or another - it's ubiquitous. It's usually people who worked with it everyday who get sick, but one highly concentrated exposure may be enough. It won't show up until many, many years down the line, so don't worry. Enjoy life and live each day as your last because you never know what will happen.

  • that was a deadly and stupid thing they ordered him to do, but i like to look at things in a positive light, if he was exposed at high levels for a short period of time, it is not a growing concern in general, it is mainly those who handle asbestos in a day to day fashion at high levels of the mineral fibers in the air who suffer a greater risk of contracting asbestosis, mesothelioma, or lung cancer. basically, the less exposure, the better if this just took him an afternoon, decreased risk etc.

  • just want jason and family to know that we are continueing to pray for you all and thinking of you all often. don't give up.

  • Thank you. God Bless America & the Coalition Forces!

  • An opinon is one thing, an out right insult, defamtion of character and attack on some ones integrity is different. Its pretty cowardly to post untrue garbage an lies about some one and to insult a man we hes not there to defend himself.

  • penny06...well done!

  • question for all of Jason's family members that are commenting in this forum. How many of you have actually been to Fort Bragg?

I'd like to arrange a tour for you all. Come NC spend a day see the sights, check out the barracks, old and new and meet some of the people that have served this country for decades.

  • I've been to Ft Bragg numerous occasions in 2002. I had a significant other and relatives preparing for deployment from there via Polk AFB. After spending 21 yrs in the Army & four years in the Air Force, I spent time in worse barracks/work areas throughout my 25 yrs in the military, however, the ABSBESTOS issue is the only issue that this is about. We need to address these issues only. Personal issues need to stay out of this. Emotions get in the way. God Bless America & the Coalition Forces!!

  • Hats off to Jason and all of our soldiers who have been to war and back!!! I could only possibly IMAGINE what going to war and being in the military is like - I respect each and everyone of you who has served and is serving! Respect each other like we repsect you.

  • BRAGGALOT1 you created a youtube account today just so you bitch about this video? your a pathetic ass hole?

  • what's up with all the nastiness. have we forgotten the goal here? to bring this to the attention of our representatives so the money is provided to fix the facilitates and improve the lives for all military personnel. please stop with the personal attacks. it's over what done is done, lets get back on the high ground here.

  • mgunn...you created this account on 7 Dec. one should not throw stones. Everyone is allowed to join in, just like you and I. If you check you will see that many folks have just recently joined. Isn't America great!?

  • Im a sick gulf war veteran due to the negligence of the government and military. I feel that the leaders who ordered these soldiers to obey this unlawful order needs to be punished by UCMJ. These so called leaders put their soldiers lifes in danger. The families are doing the right thing. do not stop with this or the soldiers will be sick 18years from now and the military will deny all responsibilty. Good job Pvt. Colchiski- you saved some soldiers life and deserve a medal.

  • This is typical military acts, dont worry jason man hang in there , i have been in the military for six years man and trust me your not alone they think just cause there the government they can cover shit up and move on. So the hell with all the negative comments people are saying about you , you did the right thing , your health is more important.

  • Thank you for your support.

God Bless America & the Coalition Forces!!

  • Who said anyone was going to sue?

  • BRAGGALOT1? That name says alot. It sounds like you are jealous of Jason. Grow up! I would be careful in my insinuations of the government making families disappear. If you don't have anything intelligent of informative to add, stay out of it!

  • @BRAGGALOT1 Im coming for you...

  • @BRAGGALOT1 douche

  • From FORT BRAGG (WTVD)...

Fort Bragg leaders say the soldiers worked in the room for 11 days --from late November through early December-- scraping and ripping up asbestos floor tiles and hauling them to a dumpster outside the building....

Commanders are still investigating the incident. They have yet to say if the sergeant who commanded the work detail will face any disciplinary actions

Now do you understand your own commanders acknowledge this...directly from the newspaper article

  • 1LTPete...The military knew from the beginning that it was contaminated...and they still continued to have other soldiers cover it up...the facts are the facts, the more I read the NC newpaper & watch the NC news doesn't favor the military one bit! Take responsibility for what YOU the military have done wrong instead of pointing fingers and try to fix them & cover it up. He has a right to b concerned about his health along with the other many soldiers! Get the FACTS 1st before u say anymore

  • You, Sir, have no idea what I do. In no way do I (I wish I could make that a size 30 font) solely represent the military at large. Did the Soldier address the issue with his commander and 1SG first? If that failed, then with his BN commander and CSM next? Then with his BDE commander and CSM if need be? I'm sorry that you probably have no clue what I'm talking about, but I'd expect as much. I suspect that you're rather lacking in the fact department as well.

  • Why would the army put these soliders at risk knowing the liabilities at harm? This is something that should be looked at by senators, congressmen, and resprsentatives because of the danger it can do to the soliders. Everyone knows what asbestos can do to people if they have been exposed to a certain amount. This is a clear situation where the solider has been exposed to a great amount of asbestos. The military needs to responsible for their actions. Everyone needs to be involed.

  • Well, you and many others clearly have no understanding of what it means to be part of a chain of command. There are old buildings THROUGHOUT the Army in the states and abroad. "The Army," or more specifically, the commander and first sergeant of the Soldier's unit, clearly did not know from the beginning that the building was contaminated. I assure you they would not have sent them in KNOWING it was so heavily tainted.

  • You should be put before a gun squad and shot for your stupid and uncaring attitude. You may have gotten a commission, but you don't deserve for me to call you Sir!

  • Yes, brilliant. So before any building of uncertain age is entered, we should call the hazmat team, do full chemical, biological & radiological checks before any action can be taken. Lets have the EPA verify the results. Lets have the ACLU ensure that no one is discriminated against. Your animus towwards me as an officer is ridiculous. Decisions are made in consultation with a command group, w/your team. Morons like you should be ejected immediately, you have no respect for chain of command.

  • if the rules and regulations were followed that the EPA has enstowed nationwide and the ECB on Fort Bragg abides to, then the army would not have this problem.

  • Exactly!

  • Compared to you, I am brilliant. You are an absolute idiot. My animosity towards you is fully warranted. I have the utmost respect for chain of command, but you are not one of them. We all make mistakes and my nephew, PV2 Jason Colchiski and his peers were doing as they were told without knowing the dangers of the mission and were doing it respectfully for breaking the rules. My comments were no inquisition. You need to learn better grammar to keep up with me...

  • I do, in fact, fail to see stated brilliance. Perhaps you can point that our for me, as well as any grammatical infraction on my part. By the way, for your edification, dear, receiving COAs, AAMs & ARCOMSs in no way constitutes being "highly decorated." Anyway, for the record, & please share w/your buddy HLC, of course I don't approve of exposing Soldiers to asbestos or any such contaminant. My objection is to the tenure of this pathetic video & your clarion call for an assault on the Army.

  • asbestos is deadly, the government sucks and fuck the hilljack who put these guys at risk with something that's been known to be deadly for 2000 years...humans are fucking idiots

  • for 2000 years? no

    for 1973

  • Jason has been highly decorated and has been a model soldier and has never been a disciplinarian problem. He made one mistake. At least when he was in Iraq and neighboring countries, he knew what he was up against. It may be years before he and fellow soldiers develope some hideous disease because of the negligence of you and your kind have tried to cover up to cover your own asses. Do your homework.

  • What exactly have IIIIIIIIII tried to cover up? I simply, totally object to your methodology. Your lack of understanding of a greater context is evident. And if the measure of your "caring" and compassion and understanding can be discerned from such a statment as "you should be put before a gun squad and shot," then, well, it speaks for itself. I'd much rather go before a firing squad, just so you know. But I suppose a "gun squad" will suffice.

  • My god... "statement." Though that is merely a typo, not so much a grammatical error.

  • All it takes is an over night sample of the tile, insulation, and ceiling... that's it.

  • Garbage details, clean-up details, the dirty work is often reserved for those with discipline problems. This is a method of correcting unacceptable behavior that is tried and true. So unless you possess some commentary or suggestions about how to replace military tradition of centuries, I suggest you ascertain the facts a little better before you launch your inquisition.

  • The biggest issue is that this is not new news. As we all recall the April news, Fort Bragg was under fire becuase of both Mold and Asbestos. Everyone there, I'm sure, is fully aware of the age of the buildings and the aweful living conditions of most soldiers. They are serving our country and they deserve to have better accomodations!

  • Right... perhaps your cousin shouldn't have been a shit bag... then he wouldn't have been on a shit bag detail. The moment the necessary funds are appropriated to address this one issue and many others, perhaps then the shit bags can resume such duties as painting rocks, scrubbing the floors with toothbrushes, etc etc etc...

  • You don't deserve to be a commissioned officer in the United States Armed Forces. It is officers like you that put our soldiers in danger for no legitimate reason. We all make mistakes in life and must pay the consequenses and he has done so without regret. The threat to his and other soldiers' lives is totally negligent on the part of his superiors.

  • Maybe that's what he should have done. But I wouldn't call him a bad name. That's disrespectiful. No one is saying what he did was right, we just feel that him and the other soldiers shouldn't have been given THAT to do. It is required that all buildings are to be tested, and they didn't do that. Asbestos can cause cancer later in life... I'm worried about every soldier in every building... not just my cousin.

  • of a concerned family member about the health and irresponsibilty the army has had over their soldiers.

airbornemedic, i believe this was not an "exaggerated claim" to get out of punishment because this particular soldier only had a week of duty left. although you might have come across some unwilling to take responsiblity for their actions, this soldiers is not one of them. time was served and served properly.

  • I believe the army is responsible for their actions and should be held accountable. We as leaders are put in these positions to train and provide guidance to the soldiers under our supervision. We are suppose to look up to the army. This soldier did the right thing and infomed his Sgt. of the issue at hand. Every senator, congressman, and resprsentative needs to be aware of this issue. Pass the word on. Jason be proud you did the right thing. We are hear for you.

  • Thank you!

  • so its ok for someone to take matters into their own hands? if there was "negligance" on the part of the command as you claim? In the civilian world its called vigilantism and is often prosecuted. As I have said before the Army has many channels to report such "negilgant" acts which should have been used rather than this forum.

Amandasue, as a NCO with over 14 years in service I have seen many soldiers make exaggerated claims to get out of punishments legally given under Art15 Proceedings.

  • when it comes to your personal health why wouldnt one take matters into their own hands? it is not the responsibility of a soldier to put their life at risk for renovations that should have been handled by proper personnal. in "civilian" world, negligence is misconduct below the standard of a ordinary, reasonable, prudent person which places another person at risk for harm. also to which they are liable for. as for the many channels the army has to report this too, i believe this merely a

  • this situation is not about the complications to exposure. its about the ones in command knowing of regulations of asbestos removal and being negligant enought to put soldiers in harms way. there are reasons the ECB requires inspection prior to any demolition or renovation and proper documentation of it. which was not done. responsibile parties should be held accountable. those who are backing the army on this negligent act and making it seem ok because a soldier has an article 15 is ridiculous.

  • They didn't follow their own "procedures". Procedures are there for a reason. Wow, and some of you are turning this around and somehow blaming Jason? I know a lot about asbestos. I work in the field. They did air testing a day or two after the tiles were completely ripped up. By that time, the dust had "settled" and of course the air test results won't come back showing the "true concentration" that was in the air during removal.

  • you are retarded. get all the facts out right before you try to make the army look bad.

  • Tell that to the folks over in Newport News, Virginia

  • This is an important video. We need to do much more for our Armed Forces. These types of abuses are all too common and must stop.

Our Congress should be appropriating the necessary funds for renovating living quarters for our single and married Armed Forces personnel.

Enough is enough. Start REALLY supporting the troops.

  • Thank you for your support!

  • Where is this abuse? A soldier on extra duty given as part of Article 15 proceedings? That's abuse? Having soldiers perform manual labor? Is that abuse? If you really wanted to know what was going on with the buildings, you wouldn't be looking to this forum full of misinformation and false statements by people who are not on station. Anyone can Monday morning quarterback a game, but if you aren't on the field you don't get the entire story.

  • Very true. If you know any further information, please let us know. We are only concerned for the health of the soldiers. That includes everyone on the base, living in these quarters.

  • oh and by the way airborne373 barracks "renovation" projects or more accurately new barracks construction has been going on since the last 90s. It's logistically impossible to demolish the old buildings and errect new barracks, company, battallion, brigade headquarters, dining facilities and all the other outbuildings needed for an entire division at one time. Also the force restructuring and BRAC has added alot more to the base population than origionally intended.

  • So yes it't a work in progress, but please, encourage everyone to write their respective congressmen and encourage them to pump funding into base renovations. I totally agree we need more updated facilities. Not only for the single soldiers but updated housing for the married soldiers. there is way too much pork barrell spending going on in congress that could be cut to help support the troops regardless of ones opinion of the war.

  • You still don't have all the facts....

    AirborneMP82 OUT!!!!

  • So, are you saying they did test the building prior to rennovation? Please give me the facts. My cousin's personal life has nothing to do with the fact that they didn't follow regulation. I would be happy to hear what other facts anyone may have.

  • Juli8 thanks for your support on this.

UncleJ you are a moron. I'm an NCO and have been for a long time, I didn't know about the asbestos and neither did his chain of command.

Let me put the facts out here. The kid called his dad while doing extra duty and told him about the asbestos. When he got off of extra duty 3 hours later, he called his squadleader and let him know....how is that his chain of commands fault. Oh and UncleJ I've put my ass on the line for this kid many a times.

  • You're right, he did call his dad and then told the commander. BUT He was pulled off duty then they sent in other soldiers to finish. They were fully informed of the asbestos. Jas was told it was asbestos. One of his commanders told him to be careful when handling it. Private test results confirmed it was asbestos. It's just negligence on their part. Fort Bragg REQUIRES that the buildings are to be tested prior to rennovation. They didn't follow their own protocol. That is the problem.

  • Good information. Depending on how old your home is asbestos may be in your house Very common on older homes. Common in many forms of insulation materials and some adhesives, caulk and window glazing. Stay out of your attic space or crawl spaces until you have them checked.

  • That is the Ft. Bragg Environemntal Complance Branch website. It was their job to know as they clearly state.

  • It ia their job to know about hazmat!! They clearly state that on the Ft. Bragg website.

  • LOL them have tagged the video, it won't over the 2 minute make for me. It just loops back over.

I as a constrution work am around asbestos on all remodel jobs. many of these jobs are abated for asbestos. Most the working doing the abating wear paper suit and dust mask.

LOL but for me while I was in the service, I would have laugh at them in the face and said I wasn't going to do it. I wasn't known as the Article15kid for nothing. Ok for a while it was the AWOLkid.

  • Our soldiers are not safe even in the U.S. I only wonder what's going on over sea and airbornemp82 are you to stupid see that the army was trying to advantage of are soldiers. You don't need a degree to see this. You just need common sense. Which you lack alot of.

    you f**king a**hole

  • This situation sounds rediculous, but the actual asbestos release is likely to not present a significant health risk. A one off exposure is widely thought to present a low risk of leading to asbestos related diseases, with the effects of exposure being cumulative. Repeated, long term exposure therefore increases the risk. Medical science only here, no politics. I wish your man good health.

  • Thank you so much for your comment and your support!

  • Thanks. That's all we are all wanting. The rest of the soldiers as well. Ihope everything turns out the best for everyone...

  • Shearer31, you are correct this situation is rediculous and overblown. The likely hood of ANY complication from "exposure" to asbestos in the quantity, and for the time that these soldiers were exposed is minimal. I can't say there is no risk, but most of them will suffer more serious health issues from the alcohol binging, the dip, and the smoking they do, than from potential hazards of the asbestos. How many of these guys spent any time on Balad? open burn pit there is a higher risk factor.

  • I spent time in Balad and around the open burn pits in KAF in Afghanistan. Great stuff being pumped into the air there!

  • Damn this is messed up! I got your back.

  • Thanks for your comment!!!!

  • Thank you for your support!

  • His article 15 was something that could've gotten him jail time. The NCO in charge of the detail knew nothing about the asbestos, had he done the correct thing and inform his chain of command it would have prevented other soldiers from being put in the same situation, but instead he decided to call his dad and let other soldiers continue to work in that room. He has also stated that he wants to get out of the army earlier than he is supposed to....this could be a way out...

  • You dont have a CLUE what you're talking about. Sounds like your the one trying to cover it up. Im his sister and the facts are right there in front of you on the video along with the pictures and he DID go through his chain of command! Buddy dont even think for one minute you have a clue, go ahead and keep digging yourself a deeper whole. If it's a lie then why did the hazardous control show up and catch yall taking the tiles away and replacing them? Sound like ur the one involed!

  • I was not the one involved. I wasn't on extra duty for carrying a concealed loaded pistol like a gangster. I know for a fact that he did not notify his chain of command until after his extra duty was done that night, I know his chain of command very well and I also know him very well. I talk with him on a daily basis, I even have put my ass on the line for him, of course he is going to tell his family what they want to here. I must not have seen you here while the whole thing was going down....

  • Hey ABN... 4get 'bout these dirt bags! They don't have a clue. I lived/worked in those Bs for yrs. Bs were renov8ed in late 80s/early 90s while we were still living in 'em. Am retired now; not feeling any effects of asbestos. The offender is always going to paint favorable image of self. These dirt bags don't know that NCOs take care of troops. If the x-duty NCO knew there was hazmat, he wouldn't have put troops at risk. SM is looking 4 a way out & is using this issue 2 that end. Hooah! JV out.

  • wow, you're a bright one...

  • HLC---you may not have all the facts. I think that airbornemp82 may be a little closer to this situation. Maybe we should hear him out. Sounds like he knows this guy, your brother. His information may be slanted, but then again your information is slanted too.

  • He's not telling the truth and im not going to argue back and forth...i know what the truth is and im going to leave it at that.

  • HLC you and this "cousin" who published this drivel are only seeing what he wants you to see. Do some research. Again, its a shame your brother only got an Article 15. Gee sounds like the same command you are bashing actually took care of him. Maybe they should have sent his case to Special Court Martial. Don't even count the rules, regulations, and federal statues he broke with this. While not perfect, the Army has channels and processes set in place for complaints of his nature.

  • let me just clarify that the tile WAS tested and came up 25 times the tolerable limit... THAT is a fact. He was not given special training on disposal. AND they did quarantine the barracks. Regardless of the art. 15 they are dead wrong!!

  • Here's what I got from a source. 2 separate samples were tested, it is believed to be from this area in question. The floor materials (tile) contained 25% Asbestos the other contained 2%. The air was tested and was from have 1 part per 100ML, 70 parts is considered hazardous. The good news is that limited exposure should not cause long term problems. There are no tests to detect Asbestos in humans but they have checked according to OSHA guidelines. Best wishes to all concerned.

  • hey Jump2 who's your source. Do you know Jason or did this come from someone you know at Fort Bragg?

  • Well lets stop alot of this bull right here....someone needs to get the facts straight. Your cousin isn't telling you the facts, he's lying. I live in this building. It also wasn't a minor infraction that he was convicted of, he could've been court martialed. Before you drag all our names through the mud think of the consequences....

  • What facts might he not be telling - pictures do not lie. If you want to live in the building and through caution to the wind that's OK too.

  • All proper authority was notified... But they are trying to cover it up. My cousin is a good kid the article 15 was for something incredibly petty. Regardless, the person in charge knew. Everyone did. It was built in the 50's... It's under the fort Bragg website that ALL buildings are to be tested prior to rennovation. They were careless and need to be stopped. Soldiers are living there!

  • Who's trying to cover it up? Do you mean nothing haas been done about this? Are Soldiers still being exposed? Is your cousin still being forced to mess with this dangerous stuff?

  • what did he get in trouble for, do you know? this whole story is sad.

  • so your cousin is living in the room with all that garbage and hazardous stuff? that's terrible. how can he live in there with that mess

  • He is not living IN THAT ROOM - that is a room that is on the 1st floor in the building where they all live - do you think it is at all possible it filters thru the air/heat system to all of them on the other parts of the 1st floor, 2nd floor or 2rd floor or is there individual air units for each floor or room?

  • Gee every one who gets in trouble and recieves or faces a Court Martial, or Non-judicial punnishment by article 15 of the UCMJ always tells their family the complete unbiased truth. They wouldn't every lie about what happened. No way! Not my "insert relationship here"!! He's a perfect little angel, he's not capable of that etc. I'm sure Ms Dhalmer, Ms Hitler, the families of the Va Tech shooter, and many others all feel the same way.

WAKE UP!! There is a good reason he got punnished.

  • We know what he did. We are not saying it was right... and he's not an angel. No one on this planet is. What we are saying it that what they did to the soldiers was negligent. Point blank. Thank you for your input.

  • it is only negligent if it were done with the knowledge of the risk. intent to cause harm is liability. no intent to cause harm is prevalent, a poor decision certainly, intent to knowingly cause harm- not likely. the person making the bad decision worked in that room and exposed himself to much greater risk than any others involved

  • Do you think the Army people did this to your cousin on purpose? Is the Army trying to hurt him?

  • I do not feel the army is deliberately trying the hurt him as well as the other soldiers that were doing the same job - They were just negligent I feel in assigning ANYONE this job without proper training and gear and ventilation.

  • Why didn't the Army test this stuff? Did they know? Did anyone, your cousin, tell anyone in the Army? This is a great video. A lot of things going on here that needs to be looked into. The public wants to know, they care! This is news, this has never happened before? How old are these buildings. Why doesn't the Army get rid of these buildings and build new ones?

  • The public wants answers. What other dangerous things are our Soldiers doing?

  • This is unacceptable the US Army is having our solders who protect our country being placed in such dangeer! Is this America?

    The public wants answers!

  • What more will it take for the military to step up and do what is right? President Bush was just there not to long ago for the hazardous living conditions, and here we go again! Why are they digging this up for extra duty, this isnt extra duty, this is torture! Inmates anr't ordered to do this and they are prisoners. All the CEO's and military officers that have ordered these poor soldiers to clean this crap up need to be dishonorably discharged!

  • This is absolutely horrible! Like they don't have enough to worry about, now they have to worry about their health in the future... all because the a Lt didn't want to take an extra precaution? This isn't NEW to the US... the president was JUST THERE! Hire a crew to do the dirty work... don't punish our soldiers with death!

  • Thanks for the comment!

  • The military has done so many wrong things and tried to cover up so much I hope this comes out and they finally admit that they were wrong for making them clean this hazardous material up. They should buid better baracks, new hospitals, and give beter medical treatment to american soldiers.

  • I for one was livid when I was told about this story. I hope Ft. Bragg is held accountable for this...Jason received an Article 15 for something I feel was totally frivolous so whoever made him do this and put his life in danger should be prosecuted to the FULL extent. I will forever worry about my cousin's health and if he ever has medical problems I will always wonder if this is why.

  • Sounds like your cousin may not be a good Soldier. Do you think he was given this hazardous job on purpose because someone wanted to harm him.

  • I do not think they wanted to deliberately hurt him or the other soldiers doing the same job -The army was just negligent, did not follow OHSA and EPA guidelines in giving all of them the proper training, gear and and ventilation for completing the job.

  • What did Jason do to get an article 15? Was it something bad. From what I've read an article 15 is non-judical punishment for minor infractions to Army regulations. In other words nothing too serious. If it were something real bad it could be a court martial, which is like a felony conviction.

  • Wow, Its pretty much the same a FT. LW also I was there for a while. If you make some sort petition or emal list let me know. I know my family and my wifes family will sign it.

  • Thanks for the comment!!

  • This is my borther what have they done to him. please dont let my brother die i am only 13. Please do as the video says and contact everyone you know to get the word out.please also contact your congressman and/or your senator in whatever way as soon as possible.

  • Great Video - Is this really possible? Ft. Bragg needs to be shut down as it seems they still have not got it right after President Bush and Gates visited the site and promised things would be different. UNFORGIVABLE! Full investigation I hope is being initiated!!!

  • Fort Bragg is a bad place. The whole place should be shut down for this.

  • I guess going to war is the least of the soldiers concerns!!!! Dying on our soil I guess is a lower priority on assuring the soldiers safety!!!!! This is ridiculous. Heads should roll.

  • It's a cover-up. This is so dangerous. Why didn't this guy tell someone immediately. Certainly the entire Army isn't as careless as this Soldier's supervisor. I wonder if the Sargent knew it was dangerous? Of course the Army is made up of all the misfits that can't cut it in the real world or aren't smart enough to go to college and get a real job.

  • The last part of your statement couldn't be farther from the truth, I've been in the army for a long time and I've met people with every type of degree even a masters in Aerospace enginering but people join to either serve their country or because they are not sure what they want to do with their degrees....but I'm glad we fight for ignorant people like you...

  • I'm very sure the army isn't that careless... but things happen. We just need to make sure it doesn't happen over, and over... The army can be good people. We have many relatives who serve our country.

  • "Of course the Army is made up of all the misfits that can't cut it in the real world or aren't smart enough to go to college and get a real job."

Or people who don't know how to spell "sergeant".

  • that's funny, I guess she wasn't a Sergeant, or maybe just a fat-finger typo

  • This is horrible! Our loved ones are being required to do this? Without any gear or protective equipment? The military has tried to cover this up and the ones that gave these soldiers these orders need to be in serious trouble. The military are supposed to be protecting our loved ones instead they are knowningly killing them!

  • I'll bet they are required to all sorts of dangerous and unhealthy things. Can you imagine what they get exposed to in Iraq? Those poor Soldiers. If they just could've stayed home with their families and stayed safe.

  • How are they trying to cover it up? Why hasn't the leadership been fired. This is gross negligence. Maybe they should have to go work on that detail.

  • who is "they"? Do we know who, by nmae is covering it up? I can write my congressmen and tell him the names of the people that covering this up.

  • The only name I have so far is Lt. Col Clarence Counts who spoke to the Fayettville Observer on the behalf of the 82nd Airborne division
