@ditchyudhaaz the speed of the flow of air through the bike is the required 10 times more than the average speed of flow of a liquid cooling system if travelling at speeds of about 40 mph and over... and the liquid cooling (water with antifreeze etc) weighs a lot. I think I read somewhere that Ducati uses air and liquid on the 1198 but that the hypermotard also has a lot more engine surface area exposed needed for air :) still not sure haha my science prof told me this, hes a big ducati fan
@MrLucasROG i'm a big fan too! haha, i read the specification on the net, it said that it is air-cooled, but i see a lot hypermotard using an oil-cooler! hahaha weird :p
@ditchyudhaaz which is weird but guess u dont have to add antifreeze and stuff to oil :) only ever tested ducatis but in south africa they are overpriced to the max lol
damn i love thi bikes but i think I'm too tall for this bikes like for KTM 690 supermoto... I'm 1,9... any one know something about this? maybe someone is tall too but he have this bikes.. thx or help
well, i ve seen tall guys driving these adventure ktm bikes n they seemed to be riding it alright with no probs....it didn't look ugly or anything......but u can always do some adjustments if u want...
Completely ignored his 'user friendly' advice, and got the Dorsoduro Factory. Its an awesome bike, but it is a little racy for a beginner, however with triple mapping ECU in touring mode it is a lot smoother. And I have to say it does get the looks! Have a look at my brief 'sound test vid'.
I don't care what annyone thinks about the mirrors.. I love my ducati :)
and I rarely even use my mirrors, only on highways.. And I know that taste differs but I think the ducati is a lot more beatifull.. because the aprillia is frankly to weird and space age..
Agree this vid is an improvement on the old MCN clips. Either way, how can you complain when it's free to view? Just one question to the MCN team: Is this a review of the bikes - or showing off your wheelie skills? Not sure of the wisdom of playing the hooligan on your host country's public roads.
The Hyper 796 is a good bike, but I preferred to buy the Aprilia Dorsoduro Factory: recing much more enjoyable but at the same time. Please go to my videos for more information. Sorry for my english.
@onebigski Forget the ktm......the dorso has..... 92 HP (67.3 kW) (power) @8750rpm 8.4 kg (82 Nm) (torque) @4500rpm 749,9cc and the bike weights 185kg(dry weight) ducati.... 81 HP (59.6 kW) @ 8000rpm 7.7 kg @ 6250rpm 803cc and the bike weights 167 kg(dry weight). If you want the faster one i suggest the Dorsoduro. If you want a more easy bike to ride in town the ducati is better(but take in consideration that the ducati with open mirrors is very wide and it could be uncomfortable.)
@onebigski I mean forget the KTM because it has a mono-cylinder engine(and the dorso with the ducati have two-cylinder engines) less power(46.8 kW @ 7500rpm),torque(65 Nm @ 6500) and cc(654) than those two and the only advantage is that is weights less than those two (154 kg.).
The STR is one of my favorite bikes, but it will never win a test like this. Motard are way better in a city enviorment. I would rather like to see these up against a KTM SM R, or even a BMW X-Moto which i think would be great in the city.
I like apilia's absorber...it's put on most mutifuction bike nowadays ...ducati is just good on brand image, i like wheeling part...shows just cool in downtown
Damn that white Duc is sick looking. i got the all flat black which is my 2nd fav but man that white......

Hey MCN, very nice review with a real good quality (especially in comparison to MCN's older reviews).
I'm thinking of buying a dorsuduro too (not the factory).
My length is 1,73 and i'm a bit affraid the bike will be too high for me. Does anyone know of my length will cause any problems?
