  • lool you guys are awesome, seriously!!

    this is so clever.

I already know that I quite like some of Marx' ideas, so I think I'm gonna try and read some Marx sometime, too B-)

  • i see

  • This is a great work comrades, greetings from Turkey. No matter what your nation, colur, religion, language, country, sex etc. is, you are my brothers and my comrades. Don't give up the fight my friends, don't give up the fight...

  • Also, excellent work; your pop music parody is more tolerable then real pop music; AND it's entertaining.

    Good work guys...

  • Make sure to read Animal Farm after that Marx...

The 99% failed to read Animal Farm and now are Animal Farming...

  • @learrus

Good one, Orwell himself was actually a Socialist, he just had a terrible understanding of the USSR dude.

  • @AtheismCentral Ha, don't bother correcting people like that, they'll always believe that authoritarian socialism is the only type of socialism that exists. Which is not true obviously, Orwell was very fearful of authoritarian government as clearly shown by his books, yet he was a socialist

  • @AtheismCentral Well he does critize stalinisme, and like Bertolt Brecht, he did critize the USSR, wich died partly because of having to compet with the USA

  • love

  • As you watch this video your probably thinking that communism isnt so bad, well it is! Don't get me wrong karl marx does have good ideas its just that the when countries go communist, all the "working class unite" propaganda just disappears by you working tons of hours and for almost no money. Plus if everyone is equal then why do the leaders have tons of money, that's because its money YOU should be earning. Again I'm not against communism, its just that the leaders will take all the money

  • @zombcod420 Pretty good criticism of capitalism you trot out there! "working tons of hours and for almost no money", "if everyone is equal then why do the leaders have tons of money" - communists (well, the ones that weren't Stalin's stooges) would properly argue exactly what you said: "its money YOU should be earning". A true workers' state, as defined by Marx when looking at the Paris Commune as an example, would be one in which the workers have direct political control of the government.

  • @zombcod420 And the moment the leaders (Party members) take the money you have State Capitalism which is not a Social State thus not Socialism. People need to be educated so there are no leaders except ourselves. A Capitalist State is predicated on Capital being the prime social organiser thus the owners of Capital become the social leaders investing in increasing their Capital to the detriment of good Social systems of Social Intercourse.

  • this is awesome! :D

  • my dad liked marx so much in his political studies class in the 70s that he found a teaching job in east germany and met my mom, keep on keep on!! it's not supposed to be complicated or deep, this is a Katy Perry parody..

  • Lol... Marxist frat boys. Never thought I'd see the day.

  • "ponders reading marx."

  • i love that people are still arguing on here a year and a half later... gsw '10 ftw

  • loooooooool this is wonderful looool

  • correction: one of those guys can sing ...

  • did anyone notice that these guys can actually sing?

  • Good goyim, adopt my shitty political ideas meant to demoralize western countries.

  • holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

  • I have that pokemon shirt.

  • @xbxDaniel That's the only thing I have to offer to the conversation :[

  • now this is the music MTV should be playing. lol

  • I'm a proud socialist and i love this song. :D

  • Herman Cain wants that pokemon shirt

  • not my thing, should have known to stop when i saw the pokemon shirt on a grown man

  • @jeberjaber What, a grown man can't be a pokemon fan? That doesn't make sense.

  • Dude, AWESOME

  • Pokémon Style! :D

  • Same Guy, Different Song

    search Black Friday by KRuss86

  • And I meant in other countries. Because of course I'm a Socialist.

  • @tourettetruthserum That's because in Socialist or Communist governments, they were usually controlled by either idiot puppet excuses of politicians, or power hungry dictators. The USSR, for example, was controlled by Stalin for years, and many other people (I don't know much about Vladimir Lenin, so I don't know if he was a dictator or not) and with the Cold War and whatnot, the Soviet Union fell apart until other politicians took control, like Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

  • This is brilliant! Love it. Better than original!

  • Hey mr Phillis isnt it against some rule for us to comment on this? Last year our teacher couldnt like talk to us at all on the internet

This is an awesome song by the way

  • @lukeeeh92 I'll definitely check it out. I'm a fan of dry economics literature; thanks for the recommendation!

  • I'm going to this school next year and I really hope I get this guy for history.

  • Beleive it or not, this is my latin,Phsycology, and my AP World History Teacher. He is the coolest teacher ever. My favorite quote, "papers should be like skirts. Long enough to keep things covered but short enough to keep things interesting."

  • I've got to show this to my capitalist history teacher :)

Awesome video, thanks for making it.

  • hehe thats my history teacher singing! xD

  • @aroymart Yay for Mr. Phillis!!! This really is an amazing song. @bphillis I didn't know you could sing.

  • People really need to stop making references to Hitler, he was a fascist, not a communist. Also, communism in its true form as Marx envisioned it has never happened, it has been corrupted by the greed of the political actors who tried to implement it. I'm not saying that we should adopt communist ideologies here in America, but recognize that communism as an ideology is actually a good idea, but in practice, it's corrupted by greed.

  • @JessicaViolet07 my thoughts exactly. good post girl but try getting that info across to the bigots is a bit like explaining evolution to a creationist, they just bury ther heads in the sand.

  • I want that pokémon t-shirt

  • I did allude to sth the bearded prophet wrote in his diaries. I actually did read about half of Capital. It may have been revolutionary in the middle of 19th century, but it is 2011. His phantasies had been put into practice in countries on all continents, the only difference between them was number of victims. And the conclusion from the followers - the practice is wrong, not the idea. So here I am saying to you - I spent my youth in communist Poland, now I'm being exploited by capitalists

  • @tourettetruthserum Interesting that you don't actually allude to anything which Marx says in his writing; you merely trot out some ad hominem attacks and a baseless claim about communism. Before you levy criticisms you probably ought to take our advice and actually read some Marx. There's a lot more there than you seem to think.

Not using the word "retard" as an insult would be wise, as well. Doing so robs you of any credibility (or dignity).

  • @bphillis in Ireland and I see the difference, I finally live in normal country, not a mental hospital. I compared the communism to Hitler not without a reason - they ended up with similar results and used the same methods, only difference is the red disease has got much better PR these days, especially thanks to professors of social sciences on wealthy western universities. I grew up in a country, where this gangrene has been applied for 50 years. IT DOES NOT WORK.

  • @bphillis Maybe I can help. Look up "Karl Marx and the Close of His System" by Bohm Bawerk. It's pretty dry stuff though, as most Austrian economics literature is. One should always try to get both sides of the argument. We aren't all ad-hom bombers.

  • @tourettetruthserum ernesto guevara was too.. I mean son of a wealthy family, and he was excecuted for his beliefs.. So.. really, next time find an other aswer

  • @comandantejunior1 Che is an even better example of this farce; raised in wealthy family and not having an idea how the world works, then being able to pursue his utopian phantasies with a guarantee of family connections in case sth goes wrong along the way. Che was a CEO of National Bank of Cuba without any knowledge of banking or finance, then a director of political prison in Havana (and a very committed one). Then started bloody revolutions all over S.America and Africa. A real role-model...

  • @tourettetruthserum ΄΄Then started bloody revolutions all over S.America and Africa.΄΄ I thing you have to read the smallest biography book about Che, you'll find. REALLY. I find your answer RIDICULOUS. I think, if you were in his position, you wouldn't die for some utopicals phantasies, right?

  • @comandantejunior1 I grew up in communist Poland - direct result of these phantasies put into practice and improved by russian monkeys. And to be honest - when a grown-up person who believes in communism tells me what is or isn't ridiculous - it is time to finish the conversation. Keep dreaming..

  • @tourettetruthserum I will. I see the realism of greece, so, i will.

  • @tourettetruthserum So how well is Capitalism working for the world, eh?

  • @jw89 There is one very simple way to check it. Turn off your iMac, unplug your iPad, buy an airplane ticket to a communist country and try to live a normal life like you would back at home. Get a job permission, deal with public institutions and public transport, traffic police, the usual stuff. Not long before you'll realize you're in crazyland. Then sell your kidney and your girlfriend to a wealthy westerner, who flew there from his capitalist hell, buy a return ticket and get back to me.

  • @tourettetruthserum you act like capitalism and communism are the only options available. and nice rewording of "If you don't like Amerrrrica, then you can jist giiiiit oouuut!"

  • @tourettetruthserum You DO know that has NOTHING to do with communism right? Right? Currently, there are no communist nations and there never have been. Sorry, but the red scare propaganda of the Cold War era was crap. Soviet Russia wasn't communist. They failed to bring a stateless, classless, post-monetary existence. The USSR wasn't anarcho-socialist, it was totalitarian.

  • @phoenixsingerpdx I've never met a member of the red cult who admitted that all the countries destroyed by marxist fanatics and rebuilt as communist states were communist. That is the easiest way to recognize a communist that I know of. It's funny that no country has ever existed that is 100% identical to what Milton Friedman wrote. And still I can say that yes, I live in capitalist country; I came here from Poland and finally I feel I live in a normal country, not a mental institution. Peace.

  • @tourettetruthserum Well Friedman didn't DEFINE capitalism, it existed long before his ideas. We conform to what originally could be considered capitalism. Since Marxist Communism (Leninism, Stalinism and Maoism being totalitarian can't be considered anarchist and so can't be considered communist) criteria has not even been remotely satisfied anywhere, it has not existed. I'm sorry that you're deluded to the point of believing it has existed.

  • @phoenixsingerpdx Well, it turns out that my parents didn't waste their lives on having to follow the teachings of Marx and Lenin and my grandfather wasn't shot in the back of the head by communist secret police - NKVD for fighting german nazis and my grandma wasn't raped multiple times by our liberators from Red Army heading west to spread the teachings of.. (guess who)? I'm seek of this dumb topic, it's like trying to explain to a muslim that his religion is just a pathetic pile of crap. Out.

  • @tourettetruthserum If there was a secret police force, they already failed at being communist without taking in consideration any other factors. They horribly misused the teachings of Marx to the point where it wasn't Marxism anymore. Again, communism is Anarchist. You can't be a totalitarian communist state with class inequality. It's an oxymoron, a contradiction. Also, Islamophobia? Okay, it's official. You're a raging piece of shit.

  • @tourettetruthserum And Capitalist USA did not bomb Vietnam and murder 1,000,000 people et al. What something is is not defined by what it calls itself by by the actions it undertakes. I am sorry the leaders of Poland treated your family the way they did but that does not make them communist. Your idea that Capitalism allows you free air only goes so far. What about all the people that Capitalism fails and consigns to the garbage heap are they not victims as well?

  • @phoenixsingerpdx. Actual Leninism is not totalitarian. He was a huge fan of democratic centralism (we can all argue but once we vote, we follow through) but that is far from totalitarian. He dimply codified what most organizations do anyways. He was also fairly libertarian as State and Revolution points out.

  • @phoenixsingerpdx Communism as a system of the means of production has never been tried on anything like the level of a Nation State. There have been small scale experiments as during the Spanish Civil war but that was crushed by the application of Hitler's war machine. Socialism is as it says SOCIAL & anything that claims 2 be but attacks social society is not socialism thus Poland was not socialist as tourettruthserum want us 2 believe. Capitalism is currently a basket case.

  • @littlebigbrain Actually, an example of socialism (as differentiated from communism, a stateless, classless society resulting from socialism, defined by marx as first stage communism and second stage communism) being implemented on a national level (and supranational level to varying degrees with time) would be the Soviet Union although it came out in such terrible conditions that by the time Stalin had killed his way to power, very little except the names for bodies of government were left.

  • @tourettetruthserum Marx was funded by Engles thus the wealth of his father has nothing to do with what he wrote. As to Jewishness, do you have a problem with that? I have read all that you have written below and can only conclude you have some sort of mental illness related your historical relationship with totalitarian social structures and thus accordingly cannot see the truth of the situation you came from. But that does not make Capitalism good or less mental.

  • THIS IS AMAZING

  • "I hope Adam Smith don't mind it." LOL!!!!

  • I'm impressed that you did it all in one take.

  • lol

  • great, but I got the joke after 10 seconds. If you want funny shit about Marx check out Monty Python, or Marx Reloaded. That shit's timeless

  • I don't like the idea of the "masses joining as one".

We should all rise up but we must keep our individualism.

  • And this is why GSW is amazing. Our teachers have a viral video!

  • Guys, that's pretty cool video. Best regards=)

  • Are you guy,s marxists?

  • My history professor actually had us watch this video in class today because it was stuck in her head and we were discussing Marx. You guys can't sing worth a damn but I love it anyway. Keep up the good work!

  • Well done buddies.. Marx is simply the rightest one...

  • @sicoticosandro Or the Leftist.

  • @TheFlashback1969 lol... the accurate one

  • OMG! And in this moment I'm doing a homework about Karl Marx. LOL!!!!!

  • With the overthrow of capitalist conditions of production, the seeming contradiction between altruism and egoism ceases of itself. Once labor is no longer a source of alienation for the individual worker, what seems to be a product of thought, will finally be understood as a product of LIFE.

  • The communists do not place egoism in opposition to altruism. They make no appeal to morality or ethics. On the contrary, they demonstrate the material basis precipitating this seeming contradiction. Communists make no moral demands of people, to treat others as you would have them treat you, to love one another. They are very well aware that egoism, just as much as altruism, is in definite circumstances a necessary form of self-assertion of individuals.

  • Are you doing an economics degree? Would you ever organise the workers into a revolution or would you try and get elected? Have you joined the communist party of America? There is this theory from the "capitalists" that self interest drives people and that communism or socialism can never work; I don't personally believe that; I think people want to share and care about each other but a few greedy bankers etc are still holding them back with their collapsing economic tyranny. Your thoughts?

  • @wilddog9651 socialism is the worst form of government ever

  • @TomPayeaLive And this current government's just doing fine... The whole point of socialism is that you are government, you work democratically with your fellow citizens to make the most of what you have. No one at all had a say in the financial industry which subsequently blew up in our faces in 2008 onwards.

  • @JakCei hahahahah obama has already made america a socialist state. the economy grinded to a halt in 2008 because our major investment firms had only 13% of our liabilities covered in liquid assets and they knew this in 2003 when they were overvalueing mixed prime and subprime mortgage securites. the bailout was obama's show of eternal support for the worst fraternity of theives in america

  • @TomPayeaLive Sure, but where is socialism involved in this? Socialism would not at once support an industry (I say industry, more along the lines of a catastrophe) that has completely fucked up the global economy. Obama is not a socialist, ask every socialist out there and they'll tell you the exact same thing.

  • sounds better than katy perry ;' x

I'm kinda surprised at the amount of boring comments Oo

  • Miss this! GSW forever!

  • This video is very disturbing.

  • I do believe Lenin said that students are "Useful idiots."

  • @almightybuffaloe Not really thats the earliest known usage in print was after Lenin's death.

  • @almightybuffaloe Marx didn't say that and we're talking about Marx, aren't we? Lenin =/= Marxism. You get it?

  • This song saved my grade in my classical lit class <333 used it for a marx socratic seminar...you guys are awesomeeeeeeeeeeee:))

  • Joke's on you, leftists. This is obviously a parody of stupid undergrads who are forced to read Marx for class then become entry-level commies.

  • @MeadowMovie By that logic, read Machiavelli makes one an entry-level fascist.

  • in soviet russia pokemon catches you

  • I hope next time they will make a song about Lenin and MAo!!!

Worker's of the world Unite you have nothing to loose but your chains!!!

Let us Fight revisionism especially the Trotskites!!!!!!! I am a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist by the way!!

  • maybe you will not communists but you cant change this which is communism will be won someday.

  • thanks for this, guys! Your song should be aired all around the world.

I am 26 and grew up in a county which has been trying hard to get rid of any sings of marxism. It is ridiculous, blind and self-desctructive. When I first got in touch with REAL Marx I was enthralled. Marx is pure classics, that is out of the question.

  • @snifff100 Nope, no lyrics in the book, at least not for the sung bits. I'm pretty sure my brother had lyrics in the book when he did the rap, but all I'm looking at is the beautiful rhetoric of Karl Marx.

  • @bphillis The coke cans, the camera, the printed book, the dorm, the beat, all provided by capitalism.

  • @sumpwa Actually provided by human labor that is in a capitalist system.

  • @sumpwa Cans, cameras, books, etc. are provided by technology, not capitalism. Don't confuse capitalism with western-style technology. Capitalism and communism are both political systems invented and tested in europe. Like most other systems, they have failed, in the sense that they 've proven incapable of improving peoples lives. Technology was an important social evolution factor for thousands of years and long before the invention of capitalism or communism.

  • @saxtouri Capitaism and Communism are economic theories and systems. Communism, however, advocates abolishing labor and of the government. Books, cameras, cans, etc. are a product of capitalism and division of labor. Communism has led to classiside (economic genocide in the USSR, Cambodia, China, etc). Capitalism hasn't failed, it has helped people improve, though it isn't perfect. Heck, even China and Cuba are adopting capitalist economic models.

  • @xYSarenArteriusxY That's an interesting subject to discuss, but youtube is not the right place. Capitalism works on the principle of competition. It works as long as there is an opposing system to compete with. When capitalism destroyed the so-called communist regimes, is was also the beginning of the doom of capitalism itself, since there was no one to compete with. Capitalism is falling down fast, and this fall is manifested with the form of the various economic crises all over the world

  • @xYSarenArteriusxY

Cameras,Computers,TVs,etc.are the products of hard scientific research. What can be attributed to capitalism is the massive and cheap-quality production of goods under a brand name, nothing more. No one denies the fact that capitalism increases wealth, but it is only momentarily because the ultimate result of Capitalism is the centralization of wealth in a few hands. Today, there are more riches accumulated in single individuals that there has ever been in History.

  • I think he has the lyrics in the book.

  • LOOOOOOOOL!!!

  • i LIKE iT !!!!! BY THe way I'm A Marxist-Leninist and A Maoist!!! In the Philippines!!

  • 74 people are capitalists!

  • @aponilenin Yeah right !! All Capitalist are Dumb!!

  • "The Communists disdain to conceal their views and aims. They openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions. Let the ruling classes tremble at a Communistic revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win." - The Communist Manifesto, chapter IV.

  • This is really clever.

  • i watched this vid and i liked it! <3

  • the irony of the coke cans in the background....

  • @tehJakeJones Your observation reminds me of an intertitle which refers to the main characters of the film Masculine Feminine as " The Children of Marx and Coca-Cola".

  • @tehJakeJones I don´t really see it!

  • I'm using this in a class presentation tomorrow about Das Kapital. (: This is BRILLIANT.

  • Good memories being brought up from your GSW class 09...

    Cheers from New Haven!

    Joe P

  • Comrades, cast off the shackles of oppression! Together we will raze this inefficient system, conglomerating into a collective identity based on proletarian dictatorship! Comrades, this call to arms must not go unheeded; as we unify internationally, the exploitation will be discarded, replaced with sustainability and security! WORKINGMEN OF ALL NATIONS, UNITE! (I love how that last sentence is the last statement in "The Communist Manifesto" - in all caps, too!)

  • I reaaaaally want to see the Socialist party present in Anerica's 2012 election, regardless if I'm living there anymore.

  • I love youuuuuu guys.

  • this is soooooo awesome!!! i wanna do a remix and also be best friends! i really wish i could make the chorus play-greeting card style-when the cover page is turned on paper that's sitting in front of me (post-structuralist attempt to resolve conflicts between traditional marxist theory and it's application to women)...

    ps- sweet pokemon shirt ;)

    <3 ollie

  • LOVE IT !!!!!!

  • great video and messages. but what about the "coca-cola" cans by the window???

  • @insafbe I think that :

1)they are going to throw the capitalism away,

    2) because they are two common men, which life are fully routined and alienated (idiot life - T- shirt pokemon), until they read the capital!!!!!!!

It can be symbolic, or a funny directory error!!!!!!

  • The communism is the abolishment of the government power structure.... The first step for the communism is the social reform and the fall of the capital (socializing the accumulated capital)... In Ussr (and China between 1949-1970) we have something like this first step.... But we can' t speak about communism and communist country in the history, because we don't have an example!!!!!

Out of European Union, freedom to Greece!!!!!!!!

Lets hang the capitalists all over the world!!!!!!!!

  • The problem is, that communism does not really work. There have been many cooperations under the control of the workers, they are not as efficient as capitalist production, there is very little innovation, they quickly lose market shares and so on. Look at North Korea, it is not only the oppressive state, but also the communist economy, that totally sucks

  • @ChineseAtheist The capitalist production is not efficient, it's over-efficient. It is impossible to run a capitalist economy for extended periods of time on a planet with a delicate environment and limited resources we can use. The capitalist "free" market must expand to survive and it is obvious that it cannot expand forever, because of the limited amount of resource. Capitalism produces to sell, whereas communism produces to use. Exchange versus use. We have learnt from our mistakes. It works.

  • If resources decrease, then the market price of it, goes up. The problem of the world is not too much production, maybe high birthrates, but not too much production. That is stupid western belief. Look at children in Asia. Their quality of living improves, because of progress in capitalist production. People should only buy, what they use. (Western) consumerism has become sick, but this is not a problem of capitalism. You have never had communism in the west, you were just reading books.

  • @ChineseAtheist What do you even know about communism in the west? You sure as hell didn't have it in the east. In Spain, the anarcho-communist revolution was practically successful and lasted for three years. The Paris Commune lasted only a few months, but it was the greatest thing ever to occur in France. Some of Mao's theories may be good, but he acted like a maniac. Western consumerism is part of capitalism, and how can we overconsume if the production is not too high?

  • You misunderstand Marx it is a critical analysis of captialism and not a blue print for a communist society. Enjoy the economic growth - or sections of Asia are enjoying growth at the expense of others. There can be no capitalism without alienation, exploitation and class conflict. Capitalism and captialist do not stop production when needs are met, the pursuit of profit and personal wealth demands that new needs and wants are created. That is the future of a capitalist economies ... enjoy

  • @Heisenbergist the reason why both capitalism and communism fail, is because capitalism suffers from over production, while communism suffers from too-low production. so this capitalist-communist dichotomy is 2 failed systems.

  • @1488rockstar Real communism does not suffer underproduction. Communism is production based on needs, as opposed to production based on exchange (profit). Soviet starved because Stalin (the fascist) exported grain and food products in order to get money. Cuba starves because the capitalists, led by the US, has imposed a trade embargo. China starves because of overpopulation. North Korea is just plain idiocy.

  • @1488rockstar Communism does not suffer from under-production. Communism merely recognizes that over-production is a major problem and the commodities are not produced in order to sell it on, but in order to let people survive and live comfortably. In capitalism, we work too much because we do not only produce enough to sustain ourselves, but enough to create value for the capitalist. Working days are shorter in communism and thus gives you more spare time to do with as you please.

  • @Heisenbergist actually, it does, in essence capitalism and communism are the same, because you must realise that what drives the economy is consumer spending, but with both systems, all the nation's wealth ends up getting concentrated in the hands of an elite few. in capitalism's case: the CEOs, and in communism's case: the state. so they fail for the same reason, also both are class systems. the answer is national socialism or fascism, which aims for a classless society.

  • @1488rockstar That is simply incorrect, and even proud fascists would disagree with you.

  • @Nothiean how so?

  • @1488rockstar Communist's aim for a stateless classless society. Fascists seek to substitute class struggle with class collaboration, keeping classes, but attempting to make them work together rather than fight. Communism in the end is claseless. The State is not a class. You seem confused, sir.

  • @Nothiean no, the communist's aim for a "proletarian state", they advocate the struggle of one class over the other. and you also have to keep in mind that national socialism is a different ideology than fascism. both seek to abolish classes, in the sense that no class everyone will simply have separate duties, yet no egotistical prestige associated with his work. national socialism sees the nation as an organic body, where everyone must work together to achieve the same goal. (1/2)
