  • pretty sure that was not the engine popping... but components around it...

  • triangles are the strongest shape bitch...

  • Looked like he wound the spring just a TAD too much.... *BOING!*

  • Ouchhhh

  • video delivers what it promises

  • He needed more NOS...

  • omg this car is moded by massive dumbass

  • THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!

  • BAAAAANNNNGGGG!!!!!!!

  • I can't help it....I shit my pants laughing. Such a nasty sound even in death!

I gots to get me one of them rotaries.

  • main reason y u dont put a super charger on a rotary engine u put a turbo!

  • Wow hectic!!!

  • I wonder what rpm's that thing was at when it went...

  • @mattg889 I think that was the fly wheel... It wasn't the boost pressure it was the rpms that blew it. I know it sounds crazy but that car prolly revved to 11 or 12 thousand when it did that.

  • which idiot puts a hughass supercharger on a rotary.. U NEED A HUGH ASS TURBO!

  • I'm sure the guy that built it knows a bit more about this stuff than you do.

  • Boost pressure blew the casing?

  • BAAAANNNG!!! Too much BOOST!!!LOL

  • And boom Gooes the Dynamite

  • Sucked in a bit of rice.

  • @darky821 Seconded. I love tuned cars. American, German, Japanese. I hate closed minded people when it comes to fast cars and tuning. I used to own an Integra, now I own a Mustang. Go figure.

  • I can't believe people are actually questioning if it's a rotary or not. Listen to it.

  • That was sweet!

  • somebody put a bomb under the bonnet

  • @pcorf LOL!

  • 0-7 sec it sounds like a box fan lol

  • 787 with R26B quad rotor 700hp non turbo won LeMans, 24hrs at race pace and won it, yeah real unreliable!

  • @nzgrip +1, and they kept winning it to the point where they disqualified them because they were too reliable.

  • You say this is a rotissary engine?

  • Obviously that isnt even a god damn rotary engine in the first place!!!! You can buy a kit for the engine mounts to stick a 305 in those RX-7s and this is obviously what he has done.

  • @niggahaterification

It sounded very much like a rotary.. especially after it spooled down (after it blew).

  • im sorry, but a 305 just WOULDNT sound like that. It IS a rotary.

  • @Pacerace100 Bass 305 sounds even better!

  • @niggahaterification Thats a rotary for sure... Just because there is a blower hanging out the hood does not mean the rotary has left the building...

  • @niggahaterification why the fuck would you put a 305 in there? thats got to be the shittiest small block GM ever made. Do it right n put a small block ford. Or a 350.

  • If you knew anything, you would know that the rotary has an unwarranted bad reputation. Most detonations occur due to lack of care by the owner. I have an 88 RX-7 with 160k miles on the original engine, so it is not exactly like they are time bombs. Also, in a situation such as this, an engine that is heavily modified and has it's factor of safety severely compromised, it doesn't matter whether it is a rotary or not. Piston engines blow ALL the time too.

  • If you knew anything and even had one logical brain cell, you would know that the rotary's reputation IS warranted, and there are forums with plenty of people complaining about having to constantly rebuild, and other forums dedicated to replace this POS powerplant.

  • @aji8 and do you know why they break down easy? Because ppl modify them wrong just like you did faggot

  • I know a guy with over 511,000 miles on his old RX-7 with the original engine!

He took care of that thing religiously... he gave that thing a tune up as often as I change my oil.

So I agree, the vast majority of rotary engines that blow up or break down are because they're heavily modified and something's bound to break, or the owner just doesn't know how to take care of it.

  • It doesn't matter what sort of engine you have, it you do this to it, it's at risk of blowing up. Drag-racing engines are EXTREMELY unreliable by design--they all tend to blow up, piston or rotary. It's the price you pay for a 10-second quarter mile.

Road-spec rotaries are plenty reliable as long as you take proper care of them and change the oil. I bet you don't have a car at all, do you? You must be gettin' all the chicks with that sweet bus pass.

  • Yawn. You can keep making excuses if you feel better. There are plenty of 10 sec. piston engined cars that have NO problems. The rotary is junk, just face the facts.

  • LOL..junk rotary. This is typical of the glass engine.

  • Your an Idiot again.

  • to answer to some people !

rotary engine are Good engine... I already ate with my engine (13B supercharged+ various mod) many american muscle car (C6 or even a wilde mustang saline)

  • lol the hood flies open.

  • Your Gay, just because you don't have a sweet sounding rx7 with a 62-1 turbo, guy's like you drive honda's and acuras. Panzy!!!!!!!!

  • Uh that was really dumb, moron.

  • People only put bad comments about rotary's cos they are afraid of what they don't take the time to understand. In theory they are the most perfect engine No power reduction due to no liner power transfer. And no i do not own a Rotary. i drive V8's and V6's + motor bikes. All piston engines create Torque Because there is that much weight being thrown around whilst they are spinning. Also bigger pistons means more surface area to push more force. Each type of engine has it's advantages : D

  • You are a fool if you believe that. They put bad comments about the rotary because they are true. Watch the vid again moron. The rotary is junk.

  • your an Idiot, driving a honda. Your just mad that you can't afford a rotary.

  • rota power. big on gas. big on explosions

  • @creative36 I Bet your one of those Eco friendly Belivers in Global Warming what a Crock of Shit that is!

  • Lmao that sounded kinda funny

  • ooops.

  • Doooosh.....FAIL.

  • LOL Catn u hear the diffrence? i like to see the v8 that can rev like that...

  • Fuck you, you god damn eco-nazi piece of shit...

  • it's not like that guy is driving that as a daily driver, go hate on some hummers you fucking douche bag

  • Dont you self righteous smug morons have anything better to do? Are you driving a boring hybrid in your pitiful attempt at saving the earth? I would just like to inform you that my rotary is creating enough terrible emissions to make up for at least ten hybid drivers. So you'll need to do better than ignorant comments on youtube videos to stir up support for your 'cause'....

  • LOL. Right on bro. I've been sitting in my Mustang GT for the past 3 days with the engine idling and the A/C on. Gotta make up for those people driving Prius' out there.

  • Damn straight...when I go down the street in my Diesel, you can follow a my smoke trail a mile back. I want to make sure I am making my contribution...

  • Rotary's don't backfire. WTF blew the compressor off? (And why didn't that car have a sacrificial relief on the intake manifold?

Some people's kids. You try to raise them up right and look what they do.

  • They do backfire, and what a waste of a 20b.

  • I bet that thing had big-honking peripheral ports that would allow significant over-lap, (and reversion in an NA motor). I think he was using n2o, (look at the exhaust puff right before the explosion). The 1800F exhaust manifold torched off the n2o/unburned fuel mixture in the exhaust and the rotor swept the flame front right into the intake port: KABLOOY!This is why only tear and bridge-ports should use a power adder or you will wind up with a semi-external combustion engine, (snicker).

  • thats dot on, and the only well balanced comment here.

man people should get a hobby, v8s rotarys whatever makes you happy, rotary can make power out of small displaceement. so be it

  • Actually dude that was a standard 20B engine. I had top fuel nozzles in the hat that did not work and fuel escaped through the bleed holes - so fuel pouring out the nozzles onto a hot exhaust - and a lean engine - caboom.

  • rotary engines make such a cool sound when they blow up!:P

  • ever notice when a rotory blows, the trichoids rarely stay home.. :P

always exiting the car, several I've seen open hoods and one even a fender.. :P

    *muahahah trichoids of doom!*

  • yes. because that was definitly a honda. go fuck your sister

  • fuckin a bud!

    cheers

  • Awesome clip, but what a jackass owner !!

  • hand grenade

  • hmmmm expensive

  • Yeah, but when the dozens and dozens of automotive companies failed at making the rotary engine reliable, they gave up on the idea of using the engine. Only 1 car manufacturer is doing R&D of the rotary engine so it is taking longer than it should to work out the kinks.

  • Almost every night when i go to bed im trying to think of a new cooling system ways to pin the engine and not many ideas that i've come up with wouldnt seem worth the time and money. I was talking to a friend about a refrigerator or a freezer cooling system that maybe you could run through the coolant passages or make your own without changing the original coolant flow and by having a ref. or freezer line you could control the temp of coolant inside the engine. Just a thought. What do you think?

  • Because it is a relatively new engine compared with the piston driven engine. Also developement of the piston engine was much further ahead so it was cheaper. Rotaries in theory are supposed to be more reliable, but with all of the cooling parts, the gaskets and o-rings, and such, the engine tends to be less reliable. I did a huge research report on this not a month ago.

  • well at least i make sence.... youre just babling stuff because you probably dont have any smart to say.

look up v8 explodes on youtube, youll find a shitload of them...

i witnessed a viper blow up his engine on the dyno, this is what happens to powerful engine (from any brand).

you cant put reliable and powerful in the same sentence.

watch a few Pinks! episodes, youll see all the v8 you can think of blow up....

  • And thats why Hondas don't make much power. :P

  • isn't it a mazda?

  • Wasn't commenting on the video. Was commenting to the person who said that ls7s need 5 liters to go past a 20b. and a 20b is a 2 liter.

  • how can it be more reliable ???

    a basic 1.3L 2 rotors has 3 moving parts,

    a cosmo 2.0L 3 rotors has 4 ....

a piston engine has 40 per pistons....

no wonder you drive a trans am.

probably dont know anything else then v8's.

maybe rotaries dont have that much torque (more then honda), but at least the car can turn....

unlike v8, they might have lots of torque but they cant take a turn properly, with the exception of the latest Corvette which competes in American LeMans series.

  • LS7s are shite i've blown up about 6 of those putting big boost through them. factory sucks go billet. even better go rotor

  • wow that was cool

  • Wow does that rx7 have a supercharger!. Shit thats what im doing since i got the car and supercharger for 1000 bucks lol. Hope my car doesent do that if i ever get it running.

  • ahahahaah oonick is my 13 year old brother and he even knows AMERICAN IRON BABY!!!!!!! my c10 is a perfect example of technology from the yesteryear that still goes o' so fast.traction bars,7.4L's of iron headed big block and no ac/heat/door panels, pizza cutter front rims and enough rubber in the back to smother an elephant.of course when i switch out to my ls1/2 i will be a follower of the kick even more ass just in a light weight package clan i will still have TORQUE though but less liters :(

  • all you need is American iron. we dont "need" those extra liters/cubes we just got em to make that cloud you see go flying past you that much bigger, makes driving sideways past you so much easier

  • hahah that just makes me laugh !

  • You 2 last guys, stop arguing. You're comparing oranges to apples. Big difference in a rotatary compared to V8. V8 will make both power and torque, compared to a rotatary engine that able to spine beyond 10000rpm aloing alot of HP but alot less torque. both engine are to be used in different applicaions. High reving engine for drift, circle track, not great as drag engine. Big V8 for drag, drift, circle and ecerything else.

  • uhhh no...

  • What's a LS7 again..oh yer a 7 litre engine

    oh and a 20B is a 2 litre engine

so a v8 needs an extra 5 litres to go past a rota

    sad

  • Can we say reliability of a V8 monster vs a rotatary.

The V8 will outlast any of those 2.0L you're so fan about. I hope you like the bill tou rebuilt one of those. So we'll see who will go V8 in a near future.

  • You're just mad the Zo6 walked all over the murcielago for a third of the price in our "outdated and wasteful" technology.

  • fUCKIN PUSSYS and their rice grinders and paper mache body kits. duh why do you think those fags swap their rotaries for LS1s and LS7s because they nedd to feel the rush of actual torque i mean how could you live with 1200hp but only like 500ftlbs thats pussy shit my 66' c10 would smoke that shit with good ol' american 454ci power

  • how bout some good ol' stfu?

  • who ever said v8's r good ...... they suck ballz

  • tru that. they need all that torque to get the fat ass engine and car moving. COOOOL!!!!!! eat my wastegate nigger v8 lovers

  • Rotarys are good make race against one and you will know it.

  • i see why u would want to supercharge one, i mean they give out loads of power for a small amount of CC's, but they give out the power at high rpm, and if u put a supercharger on them, well, see above....

I work on 2stroke wankels, brilliant engines, not for racing.

  • Supercharging a sewing machine motor obviously just doesn't work, swap that junk with a 454. Supercharged of course : )

  • right on brother!

  • the rotary was not built and designed by the japanese it was a GERMAN NAMED FELIX WANKEL!!

and they dont need 5.0l+ to kick that 454's ass

  • im sure you would know

  • right on

  • OUCH...personally I would have put two massive turbos on the thing....BUt it still would have blown up...even if it was supercharged it still should not have blown up like that, something was wrong with the engine. I hope the guy was not hurt though.

  • Why in God's name was that Wankel supercharged?

  • i dunno they have too many rpm for a supercharger he needed twin turbos

  • how about we cut your nuts off with a soldering iron? faggot.

  • lol

  • your calling me a fag? your the one who wants to touch my nuts. your gay just like every other rotary engine driver!

  • lol rotary engines are bad ass but that wasnt the motor blowing that was the supercharger...

  • haha stupid cunt.

  • lolol when ford chevy and dodge make an engine that can put out 1200hp out of a 1.3l engine i will give them respect. until then rotaries are better. ROTARIES- BECAUSE WE DONT NEED 5.0L TO KICK YOUR ASS!!!!! V8s are nothing more then over rated hunks of metal and need to catch up with the times.

  • yeah, thats why all the smart rx7 owners swap their shitty rotor for a v8.

  • no thats not why its cause they dont know anything about the rotary or how its wired you dumbshit!

  • i luv it when you talk dirty to me! Grrrrrrrrrrrr........... but you know thats no way to talk to your father! i am your father arent i????? oh, thats right.... your mum is such a slut, you wouldnt know who your father is would ya? hahah.... nice talkin to ya. keep in touch dickhaed! xxxx

  • What a wannabe...sure you would supercharge a Rotary! Deserves him right!

  • lol ilove the sound when it explodes

  • the crowd loved it tho, short and sweet.

  • And again...

  • Agreed dog, and why the hell would someone s.c. a stupid rotary?

  • dude, rotary motors are a really sweet engine IF you can get them to run good.. or if you can find parts or anyone to fix them. It is one of the smoothest and fastest revving engine designs available... i still wouldn't own one tho.

  • yeahhh

  • wow someone got in for the old rotary i think they are great so simple no valves no cam just power maybe not this one shame his brought a 8 pot

  • first time seen SC on 20B...

  • That would suck bad. Feel sorry for the owner

  • Was it a 20b? That hurts even more. =(

  • *puts head in hands*

    If it's a 20B, it's a 3-rotor.

Regardless, it's still a shitty engine.

  • ahahahah rotary's are such shitters..

  • Probably the coolest sound I've heard all day, anyway. BVVVVVV!

  • 20B's are usually alright. But not this one, lol!

  • Was that the motor itself letting go, or just the supercharger?

  • shut up CealeX and marknz247 stupid bogans

  • I can't understand why the people thinks that wankel motors could be better than otto cycle.

  • 3 moving parts versus over 50. rpms up in the 15000 range for a well built one. 300+HP from a smaller lighter engine than a v4, v6 or v8

  • not only that, it's hp/l is higher than an otto cycle.

    a 1200cc engine can make over 300+hp.

it's a much simpler design, even if it does have it's flaws. It's ultra light and ultra small.

  • ya but the engines are shit for torque

  • So are gas turbines but you don't see them putting piston engines in an F-22 Raptor now do you?

  • well thats stupid and they aren't exactly the same as rotary's u no

  • Because they are better. Boingers blow up as well. These guys push 1.2 or 1.3L engines to over 600hp. Do the math. That would be a 5.7L V8 having to make 2630hp. Now stfu.

  • are you talking about Pony HP?

  • it has been done with a 540 big block and running 54psi through a twin turbo.... dont know what turbo it was though..

  • Pirla....sovralimentare un motore simile.....che gia' e' un cagatone.....col Turbo poi regge si e' no 2 minuti.

  • as they're leaving u for dead ..........

  • Not 2 cylinder... 2 rotor. Learn a bit more about the engine before you start talking smack about it.

  • hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahaahahahha. silly child.

  • "rotay's" that's new. What might that be my uneducated fellow human being.

  • pompus a-holes say what?

  • The noise in your nightmares when you realise you gotta race one...

  • weak

  • I think there was more to it than revs boys

  • too much rpm's

  • I was at the Motorplex in Perth when this happened.I actually know the owner and it is or was a 20B with a blower and was in the 'teething' stage of running.

He has now opted to go full blown alcohol v8.

  • thats kinda like my uncle, his clutch exploded in his 64 chev he was drag racing. after the smoke cleared he got out of the car but his right foot was still in the car, the clutch severed his foot. due to shock or whatever, he didnt even realize his foot was severed. he then passed out and has no memory of that moment

  • that was spectacularly bad. xP

  • put a rev limiter

  • idiot, it has one. the engine let go causing catastrophic failure

  • Not suprised putting A super charger that size on the poor thing!

  • wtf i blew my clutch once and it went up like this it blew the guards out the bonnet up etc almost a rightoff
