Can you use a lawnmower engine for that ?-And it would be better to remove all piston rings, and because the cast iron cylinder is not the hot end, it would be good to use some right size O-ring instead of normal rings.
yes i made one in 2000 out of a regular vertical shaft briggs engine i removed the oil ring and i got better results than this one . it produced around 600 rpm and ran a small generator around 6 watts some people have gotted around 20 watts with better designed displacers
seal off your crank case breather if you havent i notced that it is still in place this wil help some and congrats for not makeing another mug top toy dont get me wrong those are great models but they dont' do a damm thing. and also cheers to you for (recycling) in the way it should be done. i was just working on my 13 hp honda hopefully turned 15 hp sterling generator set it was high time for a smoke break my next project after this is a 150 hp sterling gen set powered by a gasifer, good luck
i oiled the piston directly and get about 200 rpm im going to work on a way to get the factory oil pump to oil the piston at a lower rpm it could be because i have the engine going the wrong direction ill need to move the displacer to the other 90 deg angle to change direction that will be next week
100 rpm ain't much but it seems to have some momentum though. It could drive a small compressor that pressurizes the working gas, which would improve speed and force considerably. The same with a regenerator.
Hope it doesn't sound like I'm trying to be smart. Am very impressed and this is a great achievement.

i used a spagatti container from an online store for the displacer cylinder i would recomend a shorter displacer than i used say about 7 in long to give more swept volume .
this is a four cycle engine converted to a stirling engine it is going about a whopping 100 rpm LOL the piston rings are intact but the valves have been removed .the head has been replaced with thick aluminum with a hole drilled between the displacer cylinder and the piston and resealed with a bolt and epoxy putty the displacer is 8 in tall and 3.5 in wide the displacer cylinder is 4 in wide by 10.5 in tall.
I saw your first engine from a few years ago, This one is much improved, hats off to you.
