From my almost 30 years on the job I know there are great cops, there are some super detectives, there are guys and gals who would take a bullet to protect an innocent person. However, they don't look for or get headlines. Usually the bad cops get the media's attention. Unfortunately, in many situations the bad cops drag down the good cops more than the good cops bring up the bad cops. And the legal system prevents good psych screening.

The last contact I had with police was an interrogation of sorts when I was hanging around the liquor store parking lot shortly after the place got robbed. Since I was smoking a cigarette and basically hanging out to watch the comings and goings it wasn't a nuisance to be chatted up.
