The steps are still in English, and if you've used a Windows OS, you would know what the buttons look like, no matter what language. I use Virtual Dub a lot for compressing but never thought of using it for changing size. I just tried on a vid now and it works like a charm, the result is very satisfying. 5 stars for this simple but effective tutorial. Excellent!!

Unless you really need exactly 30MB, just go for the slider. More quality will decrease it, less will increase it. Experiment with the slider.

it means that your file is too big. Youtubes limits are 10 minutes or shorter and must be 1024-mb

Which version of virtualdub did you use in this video? I'm using 1.7.8 (stable), 32-bit version and it has some different features in the resizing section. The width changed automatically when I change the height.

And I heard the newest best size for youtube is 640x480 now... is that true?

Well I had the video already made from camtasia and WMM, so what I did was I took the video made in Camtasia and put it in the WMM time line then I choose save video as, then choose the option to compress the vid to a maximum of 1mb and that seemed to work.

Download the YouTube Uploader. It allows users to upload multiple files, or single files up to 1GB. ;)

I get an error code every time I try to save as an AVI after compression. 'Cannot Start Compression - An unknown error occured. Error code - 100.' Whatever that means. Was doing great up to that point...

I'm not sure what it is but it be an error with the codec you use. Try to remove the old codec you used and replace it with a newer version.. If that isn't the problem, try re-installing the VirtualDub handler by going back to AuxSetup.exe and install the handler.

Two questions. 1 Did you use software called ZoomIT to get the clear images of text. 2 If so how do you stop ZoomIT from drawing every time you have to move the mouse or do left and right left click. I guess you might have used some other type of software. If so then please disregard the 2 questions.

Well, I'll answer your first question anyway.. I used Camtasia Studio from TechSmith Software. In the recording area I zoomed in and made it follow my mouse, not too smooth but watchable I guess. I also followed the described procedure to compress this video.

As a virgin youtuber, I found this tutorial fairly easy to follow. One of the options half way through did not show on my VirtualDub screen (the More>Quality preset dropdown box under configure) so hope this doesn't have any effect. If you have Vegas, don't use this method at all. Just render the final video directly from Vegas using the XviD / DivX codec. This was just a free alternative so there are better ways to do it.

Are you sure that you have the Xvid codec? (if yes ,correctly installed?)

If nothing is wrong with the Xvid codec, you can always try to get K-Lite Codec Pack.

Maxpayne, i know why. You need to increase more quantizer. If you have the bitrate mode you can click "Calculate" to calculate the bitrate to 100 mb.

I don't know what the problem is, but if you have Vegas, try finding some tutorials so you can learn how to compress it right. I think it's better than this procedure, but this was just to show an example how you could compress a video if you didn't have any fancy video editing programs
