first off, congrads to you and your husband. second, we didn't start race but it is here. but what we do have is culture. we would all be lying if we didn't say all cultures didn't have their own way of talking,eating,drinking,sleepi­ng,etc. some are not to far off from each other. i agree with some things you said but i also agree with some things TheCameraEye11 said as well. at the end of the day all we can do is find some who loves us for us and work on the rest.

GIRL, you should disagree with EVERYTHING he said...He was pretty much saying....that he wants/believes people to always be segregated... Yes people date and marry outside their race but it is not the norm and even those people probably have certain common tendencies. OK cupid had an interesting survey on its 500,000 person database it was very interesting. Despite what people say race is extremely important to most people when dating if we observe behavior. I am not saying there are not exceptions

The truth is if you live in America BP mostly not all are more likely to live in a certain area, have a certain speech pattern and vocabulary, and a unique culture. I know we dont all talk and look alike or act the same but we do have tendencies. Camera is just saying that AM/BW couples are rare ( we have to admit that) and that BW that can attract an asian man are probably gonna be different from the average BW. In the dating world and certainly the marraige world color matters

Personally, I think that for some African Americans to stoop to a level of accepting popular media generated systematic normalization of how African Americans should live their lives is a regression back into segregation.Doing so we become our own oppressors. African American idols need to realize what they are doing to the image of African Americans, and we, as those people, need to realize what we are doing to ourselves by embracing that image and bashing/segregating those who do not.

I understand what people mean when they say "acting black" and "acting white" but I feel like it's a very outdated term, considering the lines these days are sooo blurred on the differences in "white culture" and "black culture." What with Rihanna, Beyonce, Chris Brown, Robin Thicke, Eminem etc.. It's really outdated and now these days makes no sense. Much like the terms "colored" or "mulatto."

@rainonmebi thats the way that I feel. I think that I act American. I believe that many people are confused by subcultures or urban cultures vs ethnic cultures. Because hip hop is a subculture that was created by and comprised mostly of Black people, many people believe that it is Black culture-rather than a subculture. When a Black person does not conform to hip hop culture, people mistakenly assume that that person is rejecting Black culture.
