I know people are going to dislike this comment but, IMO, Anthony Callea coming out stuffed his career a little. The guy was destined to be huge but since coming out he hasnt enjoyed the success he did before. When this song was released, he hadnt let it be known he is gay
@tryandlisten He hasn't released anything since before he 'came out' so it's hard to compare. Who knows what influences an artist's success or otherwise. I wouldn't advocate him having to be secretive about what makes him happy and I don't think that's what you're suggesting. I hope eventually he does get the success he deserves, but if I were him I wouldn't go after that success at the expense of a happy private life. Let's just hope for a third album soon, backed by good marketing!

His voice is incredible. I am just sorry that I have not heard of this singer earlier on. Anthony needs to have a better marketing person. There are actually lots of live versions as he has to sing it at every appearance now. lol But if you look up waly93 she has the very first live version plus the judges' comments. I hope you find it and like it. He sings it even better now as his voice has developed.

I love this song, even after so many years from being on idol, hes brilliant. He makes this song look so simple, but its not!
He sings so effortlesly. Bravo Anthony. I wish i had a voice like yours...ina female version, lol

Moniquebuddy on YouTube has the LIVE version of Anthony singing The Prayer on Australian Idol. It also includes comments by the judges and the hosts.
Dustieddy also has a version without the comments but the comments are well worth listening to, as well as the song.
I adore the recorded version but nothing beats Anthony singing this song LIVE on Australian Idol.
