Keith Moon was insane, crazy, in a legendary band and lived life to the fullest as a rock star... but he was sloppy drummer sad to say. No offense to his fans... it's OK if you see him as a fantastic drummer. But he was really only mediocre at best...
Moon was the most awful drummer of all time and was very lucky to have ever landed a gig. He couldn't have sounded good with anyone other then the who. Bohnam is one of the best rock drummers of all time and mentioning moon the in the same paragraph is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard.

Bonham and Moon are at almost exactly the same skill levels. Moon is known in all educated rock circles as one of the best drummers ever. I guess you think Buddy Rich and Neil Pert are terrible as well? Keith could have sounded good with anybody. Considering Keith was close to Led Zepplin (He Even Came Up With The Damn Name, Page Was Going To Name Them "Mad Dog") I'm sure he taught Bonham a lot of things.
This is really a horrible drum solo. I love Keith Moon but......D'oh! There was an ENORMOUS slide in his ability those last few years of his life. This sounds like something a 5th grader would play at a talent show.

I think I know a little bit about drums. I've played on and off for a little over 20 years and have always been an enthusiast. This drum solo is simply bad. It stuns me how awful it is, and even more stunning is how many positive comments it has. I guess sometimes all you need to impress people is a huge drumkit, because all he's doing here is childishly flailing his arms. I could have done this after one month of drumming.
Well no, there's quite a bit of being in the right place at the right time involved in "making it", or whatever. Then after awhile the real world kinda takes over and you have to be a grown up and a decent person and sometimes(as in my case) as great a parent as you can be. Sadly, I've got ol' Keith here beaten to a bloody pulp in both departments.
Let me ask you...do you REALLY find this particular drum solo to be the least bit impressive???

@cybermonkey347 I'd left it alone until I got your reply. It's your Idolization of Moon that limits your objectivity. I've mentioned before, I'm a fan. Most of his stuff's great. THIS SOLO SUCKS!!!! Anybody can judge anybody, and I judge this solo as awful. If it were John Bonham or Buddy Rich, I'd say the same. I really couldn't care less about insulting his fans or his "memory". He probably MEANT for this solo to be a joke anyway.
@ledzeppelin1975 ..hey i'm a huge WHO fan and a huge Moon fan. I have to agree with u on this..the solo is horrible. When u listen to Leeds or tommy or most of Keith's live playing, he does play extemely well. This solo is simply someone sitting behind a kit and bashing around it.

yeah..i saw the who on tour in 2006 ..but i mean..it wasnt the same. needed keith there.. he was really the whole energy of the band.
