@gnarkillkicksass Sorry, Red Belly Black snakes are found in Melbourne, I know, we were on a little tour at Healesville and one was sunning itself on the road. We stopped and waited for it to slither off into the long grass.

The ranger tour guide is the one who identified it, not me. The Red-bellied Black Snake is native to the east coast of Australia.

They're a webless spider that get as big as your hand if you let them, but they're harmless and will keep the deadly spiders away. Foreignor's make the mistake of killing them. If you live on a farm, have a goanna roaming on your property and they'll keep the snakes away. Snakes are more scared of you then you are of them so bush walking's not a problem. Just don't pat the Croc's if your'e in the N.T.
