I thought I heard you say.... You Said you missed me.... I thought I heard you say.... They've done you in, good.. And Yes I believe they would.. And I did you no wrong.. My god, the first song of the Gun Club I could play on the guitar.... And it still gives me goosebumbs. For me this is punk/rock at its best. You love it ..... or you don't. And I love it till death......................... See you in R 'n R heaven Jeffrey.... Roland
jesus christ, art is subjective, and this IS art. you either like it or you don't. but one's opinion about this does not alter it's validity. i happen to think (the recording) is brilliant rock music.
Actually, its "validity" is also just an opinion. I like it but that doesn't mean anyone else has to and if no one else likes it what do I care? Who knows, maybe one day I won't like it anymore. It's possible.
Well, I'll take a more informed opinion (or asshole) over a less informed one. The thing is, in the realms of music and art, whether you like something or not doesn't rely on evidence you can be conscious of. It can't be proven that something is superior to anything else in a logical way because art and music primarily stimulate the emotions, which are irrational and do not need to justify themselves.
about 62 AD, then the great claifiers, The Logical Empricists proved so about 1936,
as with AJ Ayer's Language, Truth, and Logic.
Thanks so much for IMPROVING TASTE, post more GUN CLUB if you can; and it does matter whether people like music, and pay for it, because JLP assuredly would not have drunk himself to death were he not rejected by "Bad America."
JLP suffered the "Van Gogh Problem:"
genius made to feel like a failure by a pack of pigs.
Whoops---mis-spelling: The Great Clarifiers, as in to clarify, as did the philosophies of Rudolf Carnap, AJ Ayer, CG Hempel, Hans Reichenbach, Otto Neurath, and sometimes W V Quine when he's not being a petty, pain in the ass.
But back to the point: Jeffery Lee Pierce was crucified by a shallow, philistine billowing BLOB that refused to appreciate his genius, and crucified by a criminally greedy Music Industry that robs and enslaves and debases the very artists it should help and promote.
God I love this song.

i don't know what you are talking about. i am a very objective person.

That's fine if you're a scientist but when it comes to art and music, there's no accounting for taste.

As much as I like JLP's music, I think it's pretty cowardly to blame other people for your problems, no matter how "piggish" they are.
I tried reading Van Gogh's letters but I couldn't get over what a sniveling crybaby he was.
