@rickyd0821 Alcohol didn't kill this guy or your mother. they killed themselves, alcohol was just what they used to numb themselves enough to die quietly. btw...your god is a fucking lie.
He died in 1989, almost the same month i lost my mom. I really tried to kill myself with booze most of my life. I wanted to die like he did; in a basement, alone, with a bottle of whiskey. I have been sober almost 8 yrs now, thanks to a loving God. Alcohol took alot of great people out, including keith, and my mom. RIP
I love country music! Keith was taken way too soon. I always listen to him and Lorrie together singing Till a Tear becomes a rose. Brings a tear every time!
@boogiefeaver1961 Well, he was very good, notting hill should have used his original version of when you say nothing at all. May still prefer Merle Haggard, though. Not sure, they did different things and did them well. I think his son is coming close, now. Similar voice, has to learn a few things but the potential is there, I think.
I love his voice and the way he used it in the songs he sang. He had such promise, and the world has never seen someone who has that kind of hold on country music. A real talent.
@haters770 .......I 've Lived in Chicago for two years. We have MANY Polish people (from Poland) that live here. They are wonderful people and I believe so much of the good things in my country are the things Poland and its people brought here. Thank You My Friend!!

@awsomedude910 Rest in peace to your buddy Charley. I'm sorry for your loss. I lost a great friend of mine this time 2 years ago. Life is too short. All we have sometimes is love and memories.

Omg... then and now, his voice.... lori as well. I ask for god too bless Lori for her loss. But Her voice is just as priceless. I would love to hear music from the head liners then, now. True talent.
What a great voice. Lorrie said in one interview that she would take out the last shirt he had worn and just smell it. She missed him so much. Some nights, she had to hand cuff him to the bed, just so she could get some sleep and not have to worry, she'd wake up and he'd be out in that condition. She really loved him. So sad.

Keith's voice is what country is all about. I feel sorry for those today who THINK they are listening to country. Keith, Merle, george...That's real country. I don't even watch the CMA show anymore. Those folks are just impersonating country singers; and poorly! RIP KEITH
I have loved this song for so long and loved Keith Whitley from the first time I saw and heard him. He was one of the most gifted performer we will ever see in country music. I get choked up just listening to him knowing what a talent we lost when he died, what a waste. Keith your memory lives on in every song I hear.

@ladybriteyes Thank you for stopping by and for your support. Keith was just inducted into the KY Music Hall of Fame last week. His son Jesse Keith accepted in his honor. The big house in Nashville is next. It may take a couple of years for his name to come up in the queue, but the day is coming.

We share the same birthday year and month. What day was Keith born on ? He lives on in my heart. I listen to him sing all the time. :) He may be gone but he'll never be forgotten in my house. Love you Keith
@MAMsMom97 Thats intresting because I can think of two other great singers from Ashland, KY (The Judds) Thier music was heartfelt so much Keith will always be one of the greats!
@MAMsMom97 tell people in kentucky that keith was loved here in canada, happy birthday keith! singing with angels, god wanted him to sing for him more..
@lovethatfunkymusic His family knows he had a huge following in Canada, as well as Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, & the UK. He played Japan back in the very early '80s with J. D. Crowe.
He passed in May 1989...I was 8 years old and at home with the chickenpox the day he died, and listened to the radio all day as they played all of his songs. I'll never forget it.
kentucky at it's finest...I have family from Morehead/flatgap area I ued to love visiting Kentucky (from Ohio) this man is certainly a legend I remember my grandma playing his music In the 80's and as a young boy then I liked it, now as a man in my early 30's I understand the meanings....BTW did anyone notice the guy in the canadian tuxedo after the performance lol
you think that all the new music out on the radio is country well its not country! you have never heard real country until you have heard this man he is my legend im 16 and my daddy taught me to listen to the good music like keith whitley, hank, and many more. I like the country music of the radio but it doesn't come as good as keith whitley !!! HE IS THE MAN111 :)
@MsAkyra25 , I feel bad for you. All you can do is rant with swear words and incoherent letters. You even call the artist you like your "bitch". Your words are not thought out, they don't even make sense. You cannot take the time to acutally type out a complete sentence, you simply use letters...shame. No country singer today has the basic skills to communicate like older country. Johnny Cash, Keith Whitley, even Alan Jackson. Taylor Swift is a pretty face that has simply been produced.
@iago68 can you read? I never said they were all in the same league. I said older country was better. Besides, even if i did say they were in the same league, that would be my opinion.
what ever happened to the days when all u needed was a guitar to make your music and one voice for the words? where a singer was a true talent to behold? why can't we go back to those days?
I never heard of this guy till I heard Chris Young doing some of Keith's songs and talking about how much he liked the guy. Chris has an awesome voice and does an amazing job on Keith's songs. Keith had a great voice as well, we lose too many talented people far too soon.
@rickyd0821 Alcohol didn't kill this guy or your mother. they killed themselves, alcohol was just what they used to numb themselves enough to die quietly. btw...your god is a fucking lie.

@lovethatfunkymusic His family knows he had a huge following in Canada, as well as Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, & the UK. He played Japan back in the very early '80s with J. D. Crowe.

how did we go from singers like this to those like Taylor Swift? Sad
MrWhiskeyPig 10 months ago 3
Superb country music, so sad to lose such a talent, thank goodness for CD's and film......RIP Keith

I agree with all the positive comments. True country. I wish he was still with us. We need more songs and singers like this today.

He passed in May 1989...I was 8 years old and at home with the chickenpox the day he died, and listened to the radio all day as they played all of his songs. I'll never forget it.

you think that all the new music out on the radio is country well its not country! you have never heard real country until you have heard this man he is my legend im 16 and my daddy taught me to listen to the good music like keith whitley, hank, and many more.

MotoCali 11 months ago
@MotoCali putting those people in the same league as cash is criminal.
iago68 11 months ago
@iago68 can you read? I never said they were all in the same league. I said older country was better. Besides, even if i did say they were in the same league, that would be my opinion.
MotoCali 11 months ago
what ever happened to the days when all u needed was a guitar to make your music and one voice for the words? where a singer was a true talent to behold? why can't we go back to those days?

This song is timeless. One of the best country songs of all times. I would compare it to He stopped loving her today by ole George.

@Dojamasta420 How can ya top that, well said, yup Keith rocked.
stashnut73 1 year ago
I never heard of this guy till I heard Chris Young doing some of Keith's songs and talking about how much he liked the guy. Chris has an awesome voice and does an amazing job on Keith's songs. Keith had a great voice as well, we lose too many talented people far too soon.

the best country singer for sure
