  • beyonces inspiration source

  • i dont se the resemblance????

  • OMG!!! this is so sick!!! i love it!! wow its so amazing! they dance so perfect its so inspirational literally makes you want to cry how good it is if your a dancer when you see such amazing work it really touches you I LOVE IT =)

  • @hannrkelley yeah fosse was a slave driver and an asshole. he worked his dancers to the bone, long hours dealing with his emotional abuse and his horrible alcoholism. with that being said he is one of the greatest minds in the dance world of the 20th century. back to what i was saying they so good cause i mean hey you would be too at 5 am just getting out of rehearsal for like 8 hours

  • i love this old clip but isnt "Get Bodied" the one that was used to prove beyonce is in a cult, and if so is movie about that as well?

it has the same temple background, statues/symbols, and moves...just asking

  • That's not stealing. It's re-create. People, you need to stop hating because she never lies to us, she always tells where she got something from, and she said this in her behind the scenes,I think.

  • SHE IS ALWAYS INSPIRED BY SOMEONE, DOES NOT DO NOTHING BY HER OWN

  • The 60's were awesome.

  • So fierce and funky

  • Are people really saying Beyonce does this better...?

o_o I happen to highly disagree.

  • To put a positive spin on the issue, at least we can say that the young people of today now know who some of the dance greats are and where the dancers of today garner their influence.

  • Her hands and wrists!! That was the best part for me hahaha, she's so fluid! Amazing.

  • @hannrkelley i actually think they're ALL so fluid and sharp! O.O it's amazing. O.O no one dances like that anymore, so methinks.

  • @hannrkelley i actually think they're ALL so fluid and sharp! O.O it's amazing. O.O no one dances like that anymore, so methinks.

  • FREAKING AWESOME!

  • I am sorry, and don't want to offend anyone, but Beyonce does it soo much better!!

  • please post the whole movie.

  • wtf is this bitch's problem every time i turn around this mother fucker has stolen something or copied shit that don't belong to her and then slaps an inspiration label on it, like it wasn't her intentions to steal, no bitch you stole it, so stop with the bullshit innocent acts they're as horrible as your acting skills and fronting like nobody knows that you're a thief already

  • @tdbrown88tdb Are you fucking joking me?! Many contemporary shows are influenced by either Fosse or Jerome Robbins, ect. Tons of shows copy fosse's moves because he is such an influential choreographer. Besides, you have to be a fricking idiot to actually think that Beyonce does her own choreography. You are so ignorant about everything. Get over it. So what if she used his moves?! Everyone does! It's not as though she did this exact dance, then said it was her own style.

  • @Nf9456 and you have to be a fucking ass kisser you mother fuckers will believe anything this bastard says you must be fucking blind she took everything from bob fosse she might've done it out of order, in a slutty way, but she still stole it and it's fucking ridiculous and i know she doesn't choreograph dances, nor does she write her own shit and bob fosse wasn't the first person she stole something from and later labeled it as an inspiration enough is enough

  • @tdbrown88tdb Ok first off she didn't take shit. As you said, multiple times, she doesn't write, nor choreograph, her own stuff. So, her choreographer used Fosse as inspiration. Almost all choreo has traits of Bob Fosse in it. She doesn't make herself out to be the most original trend setting person, so stop acting like she is. We get it the choreo is similar, but that means absolutely nothing. How many choreographers don't borrow from things they've seen before? Slim to none. So chill out

  • @Nf9456 yeah we all know she doesn't choreograph or writes her own stuff and she has lawsuits to prove that and she does makes herself out to be an original person, she even said it in an interview that everything songs, outfits, choreography, or everything that has to do with her she said it was all her, so i;m not acting like anything she's the one putting herself out to be an original when she's not nobody made that mother fucker lie she did that herself

  • @tdbrown88tdb No, she doesn't. She says who she colaborates with to write her songs, her mom creates the costumes, and she said that it was choreographed by Rhapsody, Todd Sams, Clifford McGhee and Bethany Strong based off of rich man's frug. So I don't get what your problem with it is. people copy all the time. deal with it. the more you hate, the more famous she gets. do some research buddy ;)

  • @Nf9456 dude she said it whether you wanna admit it or not i heard her say it and not only that i watched her say it you wanna deny it,b/c she's been deceiving you like she's been deceiving everybody else about her being an original and the more you kiss her ass the more famous she gets, when she's an overrated bastard that needs to shut the fuck up lying about every got damn thing

  • @tdbrown88tdb haha its actually hilarious how serious you are taking this. She's a singer, not the frickin president, who actually even cares what she says. I don't care how famous she gets, because she is a talented performer. Please tell me where she says that she does everything, and I will gladly admitt that I am wrong. But it clearly says who does everything if you do a simple google search, so obviously she isn't trying to hard to hide it. She'd be sued in a heart beat if she tried to.

  • @Nf9456 you do care what she says, b/c otherwise you wouldn't defend her so hard and it's not like she's rewarding for coming to her defense about her being a liar, b/c regardless if you admit it or not, the mother fucker still won't tell the truth

  • @Nf9456 if you didn't care about what she says then why the hell are you going so hard to defend her for like she's going to reward you for coming to her defense or denying that she's a got damn liar and a thief and that mess you say that she's talented for we've seen already that she stolen from that shit is not talented but stolen and i sent a video where she says she does everything herself so get ready to pick your face up

  • Comment removed

  • @Nf9456 watch?v=zpxz9v_3S78 here's proof that the bastard is stealing and copying shit that don't belong to her and if i'm wrongfully accusing her then why the hell she keeps getting slapped with copyright infrigement lawsuits and banned from certain countries for stealing costume designs?

  • Am I the only one who is glad that Beyonce and her choreographers have allowed themselves to be inspired by the BEAUTIFUL ART??? Is it wrong that a great Choreographer who has has passed on work is so timeless that it is worthy of adding to today's sound?

Beyonce is TALENTED, popular to my elation bringing back a lot of art that ordinarily would have been lost on today's younger audience.

  • The video for 'When you touch me' by Katherine Ellis is very similar. Excellent post by the way

  • Does anyone know who the lead dancer is in this? It really looks like Ann Reinking to me, but I remember someone saying that it was actually someone else.

  • While Beyonce is a commericial product the ppl behind her make her who she is and she doesnt even write her own song and she does the same bootyshake movements in almost all her clips damn she has no creativity what so ever..Mention her and MJ in the same sentence is Blasphemousy dont you ever dare disrespect MJ Like he is a Fucking Music God the King of POp show some respect

  • Lol you cant use MJ and Beyonce in the same sentence MJ is one of kind he has an unique Angelic voice he writes all of his music,he makes the ideas of his own videoclips,he creates his own dancemoves he is in control his real not a product. The difference is MJ was influenced and made it his own while beyonce didnt do that. MJ is a Mega Talent a icon a Mega Legend his switch his styles all the time he is not boring a class act..

  • what film/musical is this from?

  • It's get me bodied

  • hey its get me bodied.!!!!!!

  • LOl sad poor confused stans she uses the word inspiration to hide the fact that she doesnt have any creavity or any originality inspiration hmmm you mean ripp offff..How sad just like Single ladies another ripp off This woman is the most overrated artist of our time what a waste of Oxygen.

  • @ChristinaLaRosa18 So in your view my idol Michael Jackson has no creativity or originality either? Because his most iconic dance moves are inspired(or ripped off, in your dictionary I guess) by John Fosse too..

While Beyoncé is not exactly my own cup of tea, I actually feel offended when you say she has no talent and is a waste of Oxygen. Most artists do have an inspiration somewhere. Both she and MJ are/were excellent artists and entertainments, and they're VERY talentful musically.

  • @ChristinaLaRosa18 Funny you seem to like other artists like Lady GaGa and at the same time says those things. You DO know that after your dictionary Gaga is a TOTAL rip-off, right? :P She has a lot of elements inspired by(or ripped off lool I'm mocking you now) Madonna, the musical Cabaret, the movie Metropolis and David Bowie, to name a few. Don't get me wrong, I ADORE that lady, she's fresh air x) But you prove you're a hypocrit when you attack other artists just because YOU don't like them.

  • What is the name of this movie?

  • @PastMaxter the movie is Sweet Charity.

  • I love the hand movements

  • this also remind me of beyonce's get me bodied video ...THE HAIR THE DRESS AND THE MOVES

  • hahah this is crazy and cool at the same time!!! I can't believe that's how they danced back then!

  • Is it bad that a artist of our time not take some inspiration from our past artist. She's giving the generation of our time some real knowledge of dance not just some booty grinding nonsense.

  • THE MASTERS!!

  • The choreography for Emma Bunton(Baby Spice) video for her song "Maybe" also was taken from this scene. Go Fosse

  • THAT WAS AMAZING.!!! and as far as beyonces video goes.........EVEN BETTER.!!! ^_6

  • brillante brillante brillante!!!

alguien sabe de qué año es esta película y su nombre en español??

  • freaking awesome

  • Comment removed

  • That girl is AMAZING! She moves like a cat. Glorious. Beyond talented.

  • I love how everyone is so tight and together. You don't see dancing like this nowadays.

  • i dont think its copying obiously Beyonce does it better ! lol

i agree its more like a tribute Bey was inspired

And btw nothing you c is original not even lady gaga there all inspired by other ppl so calm the F*CK DOWN

  • This is awesome! I had no idea that Single Ladies took a Fosse dance! Wow...just goes to show you how timeless Fosse's choreography is. I'm performing a Fosse dance tomorrow and I can't wait.

  • its more of a tribute than a copy.. please!

  • No Beyonce clearly stated in her interview that she got her inspiration from this she did not steal anything. If some one were to steal and make a video I think they would at least change the costumes. There similar to Beyonces costumes in get me bodied! Because (I'll say it again) she said she got the inspiration from this.

  • Such a great dance sequence. And I am surprised that so many are hating Beyonce for "copying" ... Choreographers invent and dancers make it their own, that's what an artist does! Saying someone "stole" a move would then be true for every single dancer that ever lived and will ever live. Musicians do it too. Music in the same style all have the same notes to pick from, what makes it different is how they arrange it. She is celebrating a dance style and a great choreographer.

  • wit the ponytail and all...dam b! still love her thou

  • @drdawn86 If you've ever seen the movie "Stormy Weather" with Lena Horne, you've seen Katherine Dunham. She does a dance sequence within the title song. (I'm pretty sure that's correct...)

  • wow beyonce is such a great fan of fosse

  • Beyonce knows what is good --and has the balls to copy it form Fosse.

  • you don't need balls to copy.. coming up with the idea in the place takes balls.people shouldn't take credit for something they have copied.. simple.. look up the word "copy" and "inspiration". they don't mean the same thing..

  • Yes Beyonce copied her video from the great talent od Bob Fosse-- Do you know his work, any of his WORK ? Do know who he is ? Have you seen his dancing ? or seen the choreography he did for is wife Gwen. Just saying honey :)

  • i would say his best work is sweet charity.. and yes honey, i am dancer and have been for over 35 years...

  • Ps.. it is also debatable if fosse got his material from the snake and in the grass from dancers like don campbell..

  • I saw the snake in the grass as a teenager, ( placed video as favorite) I just read that don campbell was a popper..... fosse style is totally different.

  • he's a locker, but it's very similar :) he does a lot of similar hand gestures, hat rolls, hip movements, kicks, etc.. he actually the creator of lockin', which he made up by accident... he sadly died recently :(

if watch dancers like bill bailey, you will see where the back slide(moon walking) comes from.. :)

  • Oh wonderful, I was a dancer myself ( studied luigi jazz) danced till college, then stopped, resumed shorty after (that was hard) then had a car accident 2006breaking both ankles( 6 screws with a rod in right ankle) My favorite is Chicago.

  • oh cool.. i'll send you another pm :)

  • this fierce girl is like a loser, buy a life and live it girl jajaj

  • beyonce come out with ur own stuff sometimes

  • WoW! That girl copies everybody! I guess she never thought anyone would notice...SMH

  • Copies everyone? Beyonce wasn't copying or trying to hide it. She claerly stated where she got the idea for her video. Plenty of artist have gotten video ideas from movies like this and it's no different from what SOME people have been doing to african americans who DIDN'T get credit from the beginning of time so bye hater & NOTE : Bee did it better anyway. Is that why your mad? Lol

  • thats really good...i loved it!

  • Beyonce got it from Bob Fosse and he got it from Katherine Dunham. Those of you who are not familar with her is because she was black woman that did her dance thing in the 50s and 60s and Bob Fosse hit the scene in the 60s and 70s.

  • Takeoneprod, not true. This is nothing like the Katherine Dunham Method. Fosse stole this from Jack Cole.

As for not knowing the International Star Choreographer Katherine Dunham, give me a break! She has been a Super Star since the 40's.

I learned the Dunham Method from Nina Garland, one of Katherine's Stars, when I was in the Eubie Blake Theatrical Workshop.

  • @OneoftheImmortals Stole is an illiterate, it is supposed to be "was inspired by"

  • wow fosse is amazing

  • how and where is beyonce is in this vid?

  • beyonce get me bodied video looks exactly the same as this....

  • exactly the same???? I think that is a bit of a stretch....inspired by would be more like it...

  • Still Brilliant After All This Time ..

  • what a wierd part to attend.

  • This is some great choreography.... Very timeless! Thank you!

  • emma bunton's music video for 'maybe' was also inspired by this

  • awesome

  • Pues a mi los dos me parecen buenos aunque la verdad prefiero los clasicos sobre las nuevas versiones y este video me encanto!!!

  • This is awesome..... EXTREMELY ENTERTAINING STILL!!!!!! Great work of art.

  • so what if this inspired her to use it in her video. big fuckn deal, its old anyway. Beyonce is doing her thing, and i love her for it. besides shes not the one who comes up with the concepts of the vids, she just approves it. and obviously she liked the idea. yall need to grow up. there are more important things for half of yall to do than to be negative and hate on people. if you do it to someone u dont know, God have mercy on the ones u do know.

  • This looks nothing like get me bodied to me just the way they dress. You guys act like she copied the entire thing. All she did was dress like them alittle...

  • what's the title?

  • This is from the movie Sweet Charity

  • It reminds me of Austin Powers

  • Um, am I the only one who thinks the vid is WEIRD??

  • This also reminds me of Jody Watley's "I Want Your Love" video. Maybe someone already mentioned this, but there are too many replies on here for me to check.

  • Comment removed

  • thanks for putting up this clip its ace - however you're wrong about her trying to do this, its her choreographers that paid homage to it, and she just did exactly what they told her to do.

  • Stop saying its paying Homage. Beyonce says that she chooses EVERYTHING and its all her. If its soooo all her WHY IS SHE COPYING EVERYONE??

  • hahahaha chill out

  • what you wrote is a LIE. Beyonce introduced this video and her single ladies video by saying she was inspired by Fosse's choreagraphy..check your facts before you run your trap!!

  • she also copied this video for --GET ME BODIED ,

  • Actually I think you'll find that Emma Bunton used this choreography in the video to Maybe. It's not uncommon for singers/dancers to pay homage to Fosse, he was one of the best :)

  • Wow..... Beyonce does get inspired by this guy often.... I am a die hard crazy beyonce fan... Wonder y she never but 1 time mention him

  • Beyoncé is not the one who's get inspired by Fosse, because she is only dancing to a choreography, given by Jaquel Knight and Frank Gatson Jr., who are the choreographers of Single Ladies (Put a ring on it), and the ones who are inspired by the great FOSSE.

  • Simplement magnifique

  • WoW, Simply Awesome

  • beyonce made it look better

  • Now THIS Bob Fosse guy is AMA-zing

  • i have issues with the title!! she did not "TRY" it she took parts of it and made it her own, biiiiigggg difference!

  • I'm wondering if Beyonce gives credit to Fosse as inspiration for her work. She sure seems to use a lot of his ideas. Not that there's anything wrong with that but she should give credit where credit is due. Maybe she does, I don't know.

  • shes has in interviews

  • Go Badass white girl! I'm just now starting to realize how much our entertainers today were inspired by these old musicals. I just found out on another video 'Smooth Criminal' was taken from 'The Band Wagon', which I had never heard of, and now Beyonce is Fosse obsessed! I just hope she does something that's entirerly hers one day, so she'll be an originater in something, as supposed to just bettering it. I have issues when people keep remaking things, movies or songs. the new Gen. is lazy!

  • AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME!!!

    Thanks for sharing!!

    AWSOME!

  • GET ME BODIED??? beyonce?

  • it looks like so much fun!!

  • some of the heavyweight came from bring it on.

  • wow. i didnt even notice that until now

  • If you didn't notice alot came from Beyonce's Get Me Bodied video!!

  • ohh i know that much. beyonce tends to use a lot of fosse choreography

  • you mean alot of beyonces video came from this. This is about 30-40 yrs before beyonce did that clip, sheesh!

  • my god you dumbass... bring it on was about 30 yrs after this... and bring it on showed this footage as its tribute! So how did this come from bring it on you moron.

  • First of all I didn't mean that this came from Bring it on!! So don't come at me with some bullshit attitude okay!!! I wasn't talking to you anyway!! I was replying to what someone sent me!!! You the dumbass retard there's nothing wrong with her using the moves asshole!! Just pointing out a few things so don't come at me with an attitude because I come back hard just like B do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Famous Fosse Dance number from sweet charity staring Shirley Mclean .

  • This is great!! Thanks for posting!

  • i love this number, wish i had the coordination to do this stuff.

  • sorry.... oh well I just dont like it

  • what tha ............... ! god thats great , better than me i just run and get tired woooooooooohh i need a rest =D

  • I just love this dance on this video. Don't know much about Beyonce except she is a great performer. Maybe she just used this dance for inspiration for something she did.

I thought Austin Powers right off.

  • damn......

  • I loved it..It was awesome!!

  • Excellent

  • not afraid to admitt.. I do love this

  • beyondfamous, be afraid. Be very afraid.

    ;-{)

  • i love the dance at 3:20

  • this was way before both beyonce and austin powers everyone.

this piece is called "rich man's frug" its bob fosse choreography from a ways back.

beyonce was inspired by his work in making her most recent video for "single ladies"

  • This is in Bring It On (The first and only good one)...When they try to re-create their style! HAHA! about 3:15-3:18

  • o yea i remember that lol

  • Actually she does mention this in the making of GMB.

  • you should check out baby spice Emma Buntons' video for 'Maybe' to see another version of this.

  • that is not evemn beyonce !!!!!!!!!!!!♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • Its where Beyonce got her idea for the get me bodied video....

  • How very Austin Powers.

Opening dance scene from the 1st movies, kicks off into this style of dane about 1.40 seconds into the movie.

I'd say more Austin that Beyonce. But I can really see the B comparison in Mexican Breakfast.

  • Comment removed

  • u fuckin haterz..if u go bye the dvd with all her bday album she tells the viewers were she got the idea for get me bodied....like budy said below fall back

  • Beyonce didnt copy this she remade it into her own style if she never would have done it you would of never even known about this video! So Fall Back Haters she's still #1

  • yes because nobody copied or got influenced from anyone in the whole wide world....

meanwhile, beyonce is still a household name and life goes on. hmm.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH A

Beyonce is getting rip apart, her true colours a showin.....she crap! and copys alot!

    hahahaha

  • u r dumb u all r dumb she been said this is where she got the inspiration for get me bodied. she said it when it first came out. dumbasses

  • Actually if you really look at it, this is basically the get me bodied dance. Any real dancer can see that......duh!!!

  • Wh you mean? Look at the set design? Look at the clothes they wearing and they are dancing. Its Get Me Bodied written all over it!

  • Barely! Only in the way is looks, as in clothes and set. The choreography is what I was talking about, and it is NOT anything like Get Me Bodied choreography.

  • I dunno - this seems to resemble Emma Bunton's "Maybe" more than Beyonce...

  • has anybody noticed that this dancing was also on Bring It On, the first one.

I knew the moves looked famliar from somewhere else.

  • wat yu mean she tried she did bitch

  • wat the fuck!!! lmao!! white people from those dayz are much more fyn and they can dance like woooohh.. am impressed.. wouldnt mind being white in dem days if they'd even have let me hahaha

  • OMG!! freemasons have completelyy copied this dance exactlyy.. freemasons ft katherine ellis - when you touch me watch this video people!!

  • she also has another video where she stole a whole dance routine from "coming to america" the movie from the 90s with eddie murphy

  • I would love to see evidence of that if you've

    got it.

  • Fosse is beast. Beyonce fucked up the choreo in her video. it wasn't that she stole it; it's that she sucked at it. ):

  • but everyone loved it? I know everyone who like it are stupid

  • nah, it's not that everyone who liked it are stupid...even if it's fucked up, it's still fosse. thats the great thing about bob fosse- his moves are brilliant when they're done right, but even if they're done wrong, they can still look fantastic.

  • I can feel that! and beyonce is so sexy and cool even when she is fucking up moves she looks fantastic...I believe she made the moves look a little more sexy and not so corky and awkward like fosse( I know that's the point and ii think it's cool because they look that way) if B did it that way it wouldn't have been as sexy as it is...i think it's win win for everyone...Fosse got props B got props

  • u guys realize she wasnt trying to do the same thing right?

  • hey!! haha

the first BRING IT ON cheer movie used "the heavyweight" part of this video...

    am i right?

  • yes u are right .. and now that i think of it .. i think this is the video that was in the movie.

  • This is from "SWEET CHARITY" based on the Federico Fellini film, 'Nights of Cabiria'.

  • I can appreciate that Beyonce adapts ideas and turns them into her own. It's amazing that her rendition comes from this. It's still hers, but you definitely get the just of where it came from when watching this!

  • I could never get into this club. these people are too cool for school!

Fosse is a freaking genius. I wish we still had this type of entertainment at our fingertips.

At least Beyonce was "inspired by" this theme and didn't just lift the dance steps (Ahem, Single Ladies)

Folks - there ain't much that's new in this world. Most artist are inspired by other work. The true genius choreographers, composers, etc. set themselves apart.

  • Lawgirlt, I always thought this video is the reason Studio 54 was needed to make this club a reality.

  • you said it best

  • Hey guys what movie is this snippet from

  • This is why FoSSE is STILL the master!!! Copy is the best form of flattery.

  • cheeta you are right cause 1. if i were a boy is a remake anyway and ciara is NO WHERE compared to beyonces talents so point made.

  • wow
