@Spetzer I would like to second spidrawebster's recommendation here. The CD to which he refers is a fantastic compilation and a real favourite in our house. We particularly like the lyrics of the calypsos which refer to the premature recall to London of the Colonial Governor of Trinidad, Sir Murchison Fletcher, and his much-loved Lady wife. The irrepressibly cheerful opening track by Atilla and Lord Beginner is also an equally priceless gem. They don't write 'em like those any more ... ! Genius!
@Spetzer I don't know if there are any CDs that are ALL Atilla, but his work appears on many calypso compilations. I recommend "Calypsos from Trinidad - 1930s" on Arhoolie Records (a reissue of the LP "Where was Butler?" with added tracks...its focus is on current events calypsos from the '30s). Roosevelt in Trinidad on Rounder Records is good but OOP. If you really adore classic calypso, shell out for the Calypso box from Bear Family Records.
Great song, even better president. We need another FDR badly.
