  • amazing...

  • Ahaha, wacky. :) What's up with the Shell logo??

  • 1:32 Kim Jong-Ill ?

  • @LunaVorax Dude, wtf. It's not "Kim Jong the 2nd", it's Kim Jong "il" damnit.

  • Great demo, not just from a technical perspective (the speech was great for 30 year old machine!) but from an artistic standpoint its just fantastic. A great dystopian setting. It is the end state of perfect pure egalitarianism which society was trying to achieve in Kurt Vonnegut's Harrison Bergeron. The ending which I assume is meant to be humorous is also interesting, Instead of Space Invaders, it is Human invaders. Glory to the Human Race!!

  • I simply love the stark, scratchy and malevolent speech in this demo! This would work well in some art exhibit too :) Altogether great style and atmosphere.

How is the voice created, or is it sampled? It sounds so natural and complex and much clearer compared to Robotic Liberation for example.

  • @jormangundi RL is synthesized, this is sampled (just like "the next level") which is why it sounds a bit more natural.

  • @1337Shockwav3 Thanks, sounded like it. Now that I googled a bit I found an audio streamer mentioned.

  • Wow what a great demo with an important message! =)

  • Gloory to the human race. Gloory to the human race.

    Very cool.

  • Wow this is really disturbing

  • The Vic20 can speak!! I am impressed.!!!!

  • The lo-fi ness of the whole thing somehow makes this way more effective and unsettling :-/

Even viewed on its own (out of the context of being an old-school computer demo), this would make an effective video.

  • GLOOOGH DEGH-HUMEN REICE

  • Inequality no longer exists but I am still inequal, my future has an inequality but not yet too violent or harmful!

  • I really love this one. I immediately had to copy the file to a orginiel floppy disk and to fire up my VIC-20 connected to a massive hifi-system. It was a fantastic experience, btw. the same is true for robotic warrior, robotic liberation, the next level and progress without progress (C-64). Thank you Viznut for your great demos. Your style is awesome!

  • This man wishes he could favorite comments.

  • I'm reminded of the tabletop RPG Paranoia.

  • words aren't even able to describe this ultimate win.

  • Wow...this is pretty disquieting for a game demo using such primitive graphics.

GLOOOOORY TO THE HUMAN RACE! AND SOCIAL DEMOCRACY.

  • It says 'PWP 2008' in the end but the info to the right on youtube says it was released in September 2009. ?

  • I'll take a blind shot and say that he took a year to actually demonstrate it.

  • nfo : "Originally to be released at Alternative Party 2008. Due to some

organizational problems there, the release was postponed to Stream 2009

where it came 1st in the oldschool demo competition."

  • 1:38 isn't Shell old logo?

  • ALL GLORY TO THE HUMAN RACE!

  • Ehm, Future 1999 wasn't designed for emulators. It was designed for an unexpanded VIC-20 with a 1541-compatible disk drive. There just happens to be a VICE 2.1 -optimized version available because of certain issues. Read the infofile.

  • fixed :)

  • very cool demo viznut, congrats

  • "...and Social Democracy" - a real LOL moment! And he's improved the voice synth!

  • So that's the reason Viznut supports robotic uprising in many of his earlier demos!

By the way, one of the finest examples of speech synthesis for VIC-20 indeed.
