  • I wouldn't call it a once in a life time experience.

I've don it about 10 times.

    :P

But yeah, it's really cool. My fav thing to do in SF. Bike from North Beach, across the bridge, down to Sausalito, and hop the ferry back to the city.

    Something all tourists should do.

  • @corruptgunslinger: Well, I have to tell you, for me it was pretty special, riding across the Golden Gate. I wish I had had the time to go all the way to Sausalito and take the ferry back. It was a great experience...

  • For someone that is afraid of heights, is this tough to do?

  • Nice! But I preferred my motorcycle ride across the bridge - didn't have to pedal!

  • I have a question- is it generally safe to do this? (i.e., is there a good chance I'll get mugged at gunpoint? Possibly even killed?) Otherwise, I have absolutely no qualms about doing this.

The view from this bridge is like something you'd see in a dream.

  • I did not encounter any safety issues in San Francisco at all. The city has a homeless problem in some areas of downtown, but I did not find any aggressive panhandling. Riding across the Golden Gate Bridge was absolutely fabulous, no safety issues at all, neither crime nor traffic-related.

  • @SEHANO have you ever been to a big city my friend? thats not going to happen to you dude. just dont walk around at night, alone in a really bad area.

  • @SEHANO The locals look down on (and will confront you) unstable, swerving tourists with hand-held cameras causing a nuisance on a bike path that's a major route for countless commuters every day. I've been told several stories of people on rental bikes (with cameras) causing serious accidents because they weren't paying attention.

We're thrilled that you want to ride the bridge. All we ask is that you keep both hands on the bars. If you choose to film, get a helmet cam or stop.

    Cheers

  • This upload is Phenomenal

  • I rode my bike there 6/13/1996. This video was shot the day after my bike ride to Oakland. The only thing keeping me from biking to San Francisco is theft. I had 8 bikes stolen there, 4 were locked.
