I so remember doing this shit in the halls at my school when we saw this...We were really just making fun of these guys but we had so much fun doing it!!!
I grew up in the town where freestyle walking was "invented," and met one of the guys a couple years after this video aired. I remember him saying, "we did it so we could be on MTV," and that's pretty clear when you watch the video. Too bad some people don't get the joke. I had never actually seen the video till now, it's hilarious! Thanks for posting it. Youtube rocks.
@ChiTownKIngPin187 - Hell yeah, class of 1999!!!! I wish they didn't cut my flip out of the last scene, since I was first it didn't make the cut since the action was when Cindy busted us out.
i love this video, i thought id never see it again. It was one of the more inspiring things id ever seen, it still is; 15 years later and im still doing it. And these kids are precious; that kid brandon with the Washing Machine album shirt...you know thats like his favorite shirt, but he's all "whatever, its my shirt" about it...why dont kids look like this anymore?

I remember seeing this on MTV after we had made and aired a similar video for public access a couple of years before. Similar thinking at the time, but see Vince Perkins the original freestyle walker, and freestyle walking coach aired in 94 shot and edited 92 and 93. Visit the keithandmarty page.
When I saw Parkour, I IMMEDIATELY thought of this clip I remembered on MTV. Yeah, this was in 1995 a while before Parkour became the hit it is. I think the snobs that are upset about this are just upset that a group of geeky kids possibly fathered their beloved sport:) No disrespect to those who Parkour

that is so so so stupid and gay freestylewalking is not even a sport its a crappy take off from parkour and free running search them in you tube and be amazed. FUCKERS
this was made in 1995 and is a joke. way to miss it. seeing how parkour in its current trendy, commercial form wasnt popularized in mass culture until 5 or more years later, maybe parkour is a take off of freestyle walking? unless youre going to say that some high school kids in illinois were tuned into what was happening in the suburbs of paris and then thought it was ripe for satire. and thanks to pretentious parkour people like yourself, this is still as funny as it was in 95.
That's actually exactly what we were doing. Satarizing the suburban Parisian underground. we were also reading a lot of Proust and lamenting the apathetic post fall of the Berlin wall politics of southern China.

This video is great. I watched it when it aired in '95 and I too was a bored suburban teenager looking to jump off of things in a goofy way.

I think this is awesome if they are joking. It would be a hilarious hoax on MTV's lame attempt to stay "cool" throughout different generations.

This is an original. I know one of them, my nephew, Tommy Mottier. It's the real deal.

There you have it! All you haters that claim to be the originaters off Free Style Walking, take note this video is circa 1995!
