  • how did they get another engine into the park ? is there a route leading out of the park

  • @lopingnoahsteam They hauled it in on a truck.

  • @ncrailfan wow that's a big heavy duty truck !

  • the most beautiful loco i ever seen and heard, and i've seen many but this one, gives me the goosebumps

  • can you imagine this whistle coming down the line doin 70MPH plus like they were originally run???

  • except that engine was never designed to travel over 40MPH

  • dude, look at the size of the drivers, they are 48 inch drivers, and there is no way in hell a loco with 48 inch drivers can go 70+,for one and two im sure there wasnt any high speed narrow gauge in america.

  • I was there. You can see me waving off 190 at 3:00

  • I never knew the Yukon Queen had another whistle. That was neat to hear it, thanks for the video.

  • I was there. What an engine and what a whistle!

  • she shuld have this whistle on her for the ghost train.

  • sounds like the whistle used for the minature railway locomotive in roller coaster tycoon 2

  • I like the other whistle 190 has.

  • It can pull more, but the USA train was a one time, special event.

  • um dude you might want to check your info if you look up tweetsie 190 you will see it pulls 5 cars and she has more power to spare

  • man it was a joke, but thanks for the reply one year later LOL

  • @TheGondorian it was a railfan train, pulling a special passenger car.

  • Awesome Whistle! Ive always thought 12 had the most awesome sound though.

  • is that narrow gauge?

  • Yes.

  • Is that a Baldwin "economy" whistle?

  • Ok the whistle in the video on #190 was the whistle that was on it when it left Skagway to come to Tweetsie Railroad. The whistle was originally on one of the D&RGW locomotives that were in Alaska along with #190 during WWII. When the D&RGW locomotives were sent south to be scrapped the whistle was put on #190. #190's very original whistle was a 5" Single note baldwin hooter. Which would be like having the 1925 Shays whistle on #190.

  • Oh - ok. I wouldn't have thought of that ( when I think D&RGW I think 5 chimes). Regardless, that is one of the best sounding whistles I've ever heard. Be great If 190 wore it regularly and not just for special occasions.

  • Thanks for compliments on the whistle....i wish it was mine, but I actually had the whistle severely toned down, if anyone posts a sound bite of the very first trip you would think differently. But it was nice to have 190's original whistle on her with the USA lettering, maybe we can do it again in 2013 for her 70th. BTW the normal whistle on 190 is a 6 inch 3-chime Crosby from the Southern Railway.

  • 722 might be going to spencer

  • i'm truly sorry about your future but it's the money time and the labor truly sorry.

  • 722 isn't going anywhere. There are no plans to sell/donate either GSMR steam loco. stop making assumptions.

some of the older equipment the GSMR doesn't use anymore is being scrapped, but 1702 and 722 are staying put. they'll just have to wait for better days before they can roll again.

  • What is being scrapped?

  • some of the freight cars and MOW equipment that they no longer use. i think a few of the older passenger cars too. (i don't know the names and #s but the old coach that is painted up for Halloween is one of them)

  • maby you could put it on for the Ghost Train.

  • Im sorry but that was a one time thing. We will be using #190's normal whistle for Ghost Train.

  • so you guys are never using that whistle again? that's a shame. do you know if Dollywood still has 70s or 192 original whistle?

  • At this time there is no plans to use it anytime soon, the whistle is kept in Charlotte and available anytime we might want it. Dollywood does not have #70 or #192's original whistles.

  • well i bet they have 72's somewhere but anyway...maybe Dollywood could start doing something of a railfan weekend. that would be cool to see...a few years ago they were talking about doing a double header but dollywood wouldn

t let em'...maybe if they did do a railfan weekend you guys could send 190s original whistle as a substitute. just a thought

  • @SR722 i would love to hear it on the ghost train

  • I wish they had left the original whistle on for the double header. I would have liked to have herd both those shrill whistles together.

  • The White Pass whistle was nice for a special occasion but I'm glad she got the 3-chime whistle when she came to Tweetsie...

Leave the 5 and 6 chimes to Northern and Western railroads, we're in the South!

  • Are you kiddin' me, I thought they would paint her black and all original, well I guess since #12 dosn't get that treatment, neither doe's 190. Great Whistle, would love to hear some more of it. I agree with tweetise12190 that they should have kept it on there just like #12s orgianl is still on her.

  • Painting her black would have been to expensive probably, and then they would have had to paint her green all over again.

  • Nice video, though Im glad they done use that whistle as I think I prefer the other, deeper whistle better. I wish I could have came though after I found out that they were just putting "USA" on the tender and not actually painting 190 like it was in Alaska I decided it wasn't worth the money.

  • dont use* not "done use"

  • but that wold be cool if they did

  • No, they changed it back sunday.

  • NICE!!!!!!!!!! hope they keep it on for the Ghost Train
