  • spiritual

    go beyond years

  • I agree. This and DOA by Bloodrock were two of the all time scariest songs of my generation. (70's) Damn Creepy! Great composition

  • What can I say? It's masterpiece. I wonder why British people didn't buy this record in the period? By the way - this film is absolutely fantastic.

  • dewd this is basically spinal tap on downers...

  • I have no clue how to respond to this song. I am not one for dark songs, yet this one is awesome. Most of Procol Harum's songs are dark. The one in only band I actually like that has dark music. I cannot stop playing this song on vinyl.

    Thanks. Cheers!

  • looks a bit like Beefheart in this..

  • Just awful!...Sure am glad they scrapped this version of the song/video...the re-vamped arrangement on the studio Home album is FAR superior, & is one of my favourites...Procol Harum are the FIRST & ONLY real Goth band on the Planet. most "Goth bands just look gothic [white makeup, black duds] but the music is just 80's haircuts.....call it a momentary lapse of reason... [from a huge Procol fan]

  • @Bertokia Agreed! Them and Black Sabbath invented Goth!

  • @Bertokia ...I can't understand why you don't like this?...I think its' veryimaginative indeed'...and I;ve been a Procol fan for around 40 years....Making me feel old now lol...

  • Thank you very much! I had never seen this video: it is just perfect for the music. Great band.

  • I was a kid bringing this album home (Home) and digging Robin Trower for the first time. My Dad came in, listened to these lyrics, and was distressed that they were dark and complained that in his day music was happy. I told him we had pop also but this was dark because most poetry including Shakespeare is dark...He had no retort.

  • I was a kid bringing this album home (Home) and digging Robin Trower for the first time.

  • when the album home came out i did not know what to think about it it was so different. now i think it is pretty awesome like most of their albums , but it took some getting used to.

  • wow !! I didnt know this viedo for this song. spooky and amazing !

  • This is so scery,so dark,so AMAZING! This should be a HIT not ordinary "Whiter Shade Of Pale"

  • I'm ready for their music now, finally.

  • Never saw this wacky video...Awesome song...Brooker and Reid are unmatched in their brilliance.

  • Unbelievable !!! I absolutely love this song. It gives me chills. The scenery, the music, the feel- pretty much like in The Omen.

  • I bet Pink Floyd wrote the Great Gig In The Sky after listening to this

  • go chris copping

  • Brilliant.

  • this is unbelieveble to find this song here.

  • Beats the Shit out of "Whiter Shade of Pale".

  • Much of the Home album is death-obsessed. Listen to "Nothing That I Didn't Know," for example. All the stranger, then, that they put the record in such a whimsical package.

  • awesome but its very like sum bad K trips ive had, like real near death stuff-needless to say i dont do it no more, and yes,i am alive tonight ha ha....

  • Death, inner demons, redemption and a palette of human emotions. Procol Harum speaks to all those parts of the human condition and their funereal music is still fresh 40 years on. The biblical nature of this album is as much valid when the world was in turmoil during that time and as it is now. Their music is music for the ages and will always be. The only artists of equal measure are the Beatles.

  • I totally agree with limppimento55 and 1sleofskye4 comments. In addition I would say that Procol Harum touches bravely and openly every deep corner in our inner life.

  • Procol Harum's goth nightmare...full of maggots and death...

  • how gothic. reid had something to say and procol played it right.

  • Other than the Beatles, the greatest artists in music ever. This song was always disturbing to me...now even more so....Creepy!

  • Interesting how this unconscious material is expressed in a rock song. Procol Harum had a unique niche in this occasional morbid introspection. No less legitimate than Salvadore Dali's expression of the same through painting.

    True artists.

  • at 3.35, that shattering chord, reminiscent of "A day in the life". For me this song has a unique feel to it; ok it's "spooky", complete melancholy but quite amazing in the way it has been crafted. I think it's one of those masterpieces where the emphasis is on darkness but also attempts quite effectively to evoke a true innocence in the subject (in this case Mr Brooker) experiencing the emotions in the song. A slightly amusing song yet disturbing at the same time.

  • WSOP was recorded before Hey Jude, comparing the 2 songs isn't that valid

  • This song was from their album called HOME. Most of the songs on it had the same dark theme, I recall.

  • Man! This song is so dark but I love it!

  • finally here !

this is procol harum best song

  • So was I - WSOP is good, but is a bit of a Hey Jude moment, everybody knows it but it's not their best work. I like their faster stuff like Still there'll be More or Nothing but the Truth. They were very good live.

  • Yeah, only difference is that in "Whiter Shade" they don't say "Na, na na nananana" for 5 minutes straight lol.

  • Best Halloween song ever!!

  • Just thinking - is this where the idea for the miniature Stonehenge in Spinal Tap came from - mmm - I wonder!

  • La mejor entre las mejores

  • One of the #1 Band of all time. To many peaple cant understand them. to sad!!!

  • Maybe they will be understood one day, when people are ready for there music.

  • A Very Scary Song!!!

  • the part at 1:00 with stonhenge looks like the twilight zone where the kid crawls through a hole in the wall to another dimension

  • i can assure everyone this is procol harum, check out aqualung52 he has more from this film

  • This IS vintage Procol Harum...Its a different recording to the version that appeared on the Home album. I think it was Keith Reid doing the spoken words,as opposed to Gary Brooker on the LP.The band was mid-change at this time. Matthew Fisher had already gone, likewise David Knights. Chris Copping was, I think, playing both the organ and bass. Chris

  • nah, that's Gary doing the spoken word part but it sounds like Keith with a few words slipped in towards the end

  • @lancelightning - it's still brooker on spoken words on both this and the album version. i think i like this version even better.

  • That's Gary and Procol in voice and face. From a modified documentary by Chris Copping's brother. Nice job - thanks

  • you're sure it ain't brooker? the voice sounds odd, but it looks like him

at the end it's certainly keith reid

  • That does look like Reid at the end, but this is certainly not Procol. It is a very good tribute to a great band and a song that I always wondered why it didn't get more attention.

  • Maybe you're right and it is Procol. I just don't get why they would do this video for a

(great) song that was always overlooked.

  • If this is the REAL Procol, then I'd rate it 5 stars! If not... I'd still give the video 4.5 stars.

    Beautiful.

  • One of the best videos on you tube!!!

The term ''HAUNTED'' was made for this one, what a mind fukk! the BASS line in this song just kills too!

  • Please post the interview after it, thanks!!!

  • VIDEO=GENIAL

  • This is one of my all-time favorite Procol songs - I thought I'd never get to see the chilling yet awesome video. Thanx for posting!

  • Freaky

  • Very spooky video. I love this song! This is different from the version that appears on Procol Harum/Home. Where did you find this?

  • I've never seen that vid before! It's great! The Brits were making cool vids way before the MTV crowd started up!

  • Great images. Who is this Gary Brooker doppleganger and where in hell is the tune from... not the album version.

  • Wow...that's creepy....

  • Dude....what happened to the rest of the interview with Keith Reid at the very end. I'd probably prefer to have heard that instead of "Dead Man...". Do you have it?? If so, could you please post???

  • Never enough Procul - thank you!

  • Great song, great clip!
