As far as I know, you unwillingly pick up Cait at Gold Saucer during your first visit and as long as you cross the desert and go through the first set of mountains beyond, Yuffie will show up in any wooded area if you walk/ run around long enough. Yuffie and Vincent are the optional characters in the game. I get Yuffie for the Levathain Summon and Vincent just so I can use his final limit to beat up Hojo. Fun fight.

@smsff7 You can go get her whenever you want, just most people get her on disc one because of the encounter rate for her. The further one disc one you get, the more likely you are to find her.

@megadomonic Chocobo breeding, breed a good and a great chocobo to get River and Mountain chocobos (Do it until you have a male and female of either). Breed the River and Mountain chocobo with a Carob nut to get a black chocobo. Find a Wonderful chocobo and breed it with the black chocobo with a Zeio nut. Congratulations, Gold Chocobo.

Lot more luck involved though.

@megadomonic You'll need the Highwind before you can get a Gold Chocobo, Zeio nuts can only be stolen from Goblins on Goblin Island and Carob Nuts can be stolen from the Vlakarados monster near Bone Village.

It's funny how the first time I played this is where I got Yuffie. When I played Final Fantasy 7, the first time I met Yuffie I didn't know what to do, so I just ignored it. Then once I finished the game, I searched the internet for other things to do in the game. I end up finding out that you can actually get Yuffie to join the party. So I go searching in forests but she doesn't seem to show up. So I ignore it again, but when I went to get KOR, I just happened to find Yuffie on the island.

By the way, did anyone else notice that there were never any livestock regulations at both a) the Chuckaboo farm and b) the race track in FF7? Also, on the airship there was clearly poor sanitary and irrigation mechanisms in the area where the Chuckaboos were kept; I imagine that Birdflu and other animal born disease were rife.

It's actualy LEAST likely in the one by Junon, it's just that Junon area has the games first forest, so thats where most people get her.

Here is a breakdown:

Junon Area:  32/256 = 12.5%

Round Island: 128/256 = 50.0%

So actully he had a 50/50 chance of getting her there (second best odds in the game behind rocket town area).

Still weird / funny though. Who knew she seceretly farmed gold chocobo?

I'm the kind of player whom will stay in one place for hours, even if said item/ object has a low appearance rate (like the Sword of Kings in Earthbound, it was 0.037% chance). I just do it while listening to music. Hope you see her earlier in the future!
