  • Is it just me or are all of these staged?

  • Do you know that Peggy Lee died 10 years ago...YESTERDAY??? In fact, today Heath Ledger died 4 years ago - it's just UNBELIEVABLE!!!

    ***R.I.P. Walt Disney

    R.I.P. Peggy Lee

    R.I.P. Heath Ledger...Amen.

  • Peggy Lee + in a business meeting + about cartoons + featuring antiquated racial notions + with Walt Disney = STILL SEXAY!

  • I say it's speciesism because it wasn't real cats singing it.

  • I love how after he has explained the entire plot, he goes over it AGAIN just for exposition purposes.

  • lol. Everything's so scripted... but it's Peggy Lee, so... that doesn't matter

  • I think it's considered rasicm because the people singing it probably weren't Siamese or Scottish so when they talk or sing, they over exaggerate it the stereotypes. By today's standards, it's not politically correct. Then again, it was in the 50s so they weren't as concerned with PC standards as we are. And though I do agree that things should be more PC, this song pretty much rocked!

  • @ThePaganSun But this is hardly racism seeing as it's not done in a cruel manner. As he said, they aren't villains as such, just mischevious.

  • @maxkitty223 Well...it still kinda is because other people are impersonating another race and culture. And even though it's not done in a cruel manner, it would still be seen as offensive today. I personally don't think it's racist but I understand why some would see it that way. But like I said, people should keep in mind that things were different then. And I still like this song. And it's kinda sad that that was basically all the screen time the cats got. They were cool.

  • HAHA...he says "Well their Siamese! How about an Oriental Number! "

  • omg!! even people's TALKING voices were different back then!! I was def born in the wrong era,,,this is all SOO elegant!

  • "Well, they're Siamese. How 'bout an Oriental number?"

If you said that today, you'd gets a lawsuit for racism!

  • @MrsCamui I don't even see how that is racism. Jock, the Scottie in the movie, was singing a Scottish song. Is it racism because he's singing that song with a Scottish accent? The Siamese cats originally came from Siam, so I don't see how having a song that is representative of its country of origin would be considered racism. That's crazy!

  • @RedLikeWine I'm not saying I see rasicm in it, but I know other people would and make a overblown deal out of it if that was said today. The worlds gone nuts.

  • @MrsCamui I' black so im just going to say thats rediculious. They aren't bieng racist. Just listen to the song. They say there from Siam and there the best cats ever If you please or if you don't please.

  • @DarkAngel7717 I know they aren't, but I know anal retintive assholes will see it that way. So if Disney said something like that today on a special, a bunch of idiots would get into an uproar.

  • @MrsCamui RIGHT? Truthfully I think those kinds of remarks are what make these old Disney clips so genuine

  • @QueenoDisney Yeah, I mean I never picked up bad out of the mushroom dance in Fantasia or What Makes the Red Man Red in Peter Pan. I love those scenes. One's really cute and the other is fun and in fact make me feel an amount of respect for Native Americans. The cheif's very presence is that of a repected leader which in turn made me respect the character, even as a kid.

  • @MrsCamui EXACTLY! I hate how people get upset over racial remarks in these classics without thing about the time period they were created in.

BTW Indian Chief FTW! He is so badass!!!

  • @QueenoDisney Hell yeah he was! *highfives you*

  • Could you uplode the making of the Howling Song?

  • Wow, this is so amazing to watch. Makes me wish I was born in that time!!!

  • thats so cool how they did that! lol

  • RIP Peggy Lee.

  • Never knew it was Peggy

  • Wow she came up with one of the most famous love songs and one of the most famous villain songs!

  • The method they used back then seems so confusing compared to today. I love Peggy so much, she looks like she was such a fun person. I just wish there were more like her!

  • LOVE HER!

  • great they ruined the movie for us lol

  • She is just do talented! And AMAZIING !! : DD

  • we need more people in the world today like Walt Disney.

  • So talented!!!!

I love all of her songs

  • omgd this would be considered so racist today! that is funny thought yes I had no idea she did this much for Disney either !

  • Love her, so classy [:

  • So scripted. But, I love Peggy.

  • How come we don't have talented, beautiful, and classy entertainers today?

  • Actually, not only was she cast of the film, she was also the producer or something.

  • what a fantastic artist--no wonder Diana Krall thinks she is so great

  • peggy lee is way hotter than i remembered her being. Just as talented...

  • This Is So Cool :D She Also Played Peg In This Movie :D

  • this video sounds so scripted and acted out. -_-

  • I believe that that was a common thing back then.

  • i know she did the dog peg but i didnt know that she did both the siamese cats and wrote all the songs! i guess that's why she was so talented and fabulous...i wish more female music artists were like that today

  • this was interesting :)

  • I NEVER would have guessed that she sang that....I'm still having trouble with it

  • Fasinating video - a real insight into song writing and it's relationship with the moving image. I wish there was more film available of the making of the Cat sequence. I think the film - 'Cats and Dogs' borrowed the idea with it's Ninja Cat sequence. Can you imagaine how the Diseny artsists must have sweated over the sequence - true craftmanship in songwriting and animation

  • I never knew it was, Peggy Lee for the voices of the cats, cool!

  • thats a great vid ^^

but the text she sings at 6:09 isn´t the final text, right? Don´t they sing something about a new domicile in the movie? ^^

didn´t know that peggy did all the singing parts! That great!

  • lol that's awesome!!!

  • so?

  • Does it really matter if it is. It is still behind the scenes as it were

  • so lady and the tramp is the 1st movie animated right

  • Snow White was Disney's first full length animated movie, I believe it was in 1938.

  • 1937, honey. :)

  • ah, thanks!

  • no. The first feature length (about 1 and a half hours long) was Snow White, released in 1937. Disney is explaining that Lady and the Tramp was the first feature length cartoon released in Cinemascope, a widescreen format popular in the 50s and 60s.

  • WOW! Peggy Lee sings so good and she is so pretty!

  • they use thai intrument?

    correct me if i'm wrong.

  • is Peggy Lee the vocals for Darling???

  • By Darling, do you mean the mother of the baby, and owner of the dog Lady? If so, yes, that's Peggy Lee. The speaking and the singing voices of that character are all Peggy. (The lullaby number that she sings is called "La La Lu.")

  • shweet:)

  • Walt Disney and Peggy Lee are the best!!

  • In some way my twin Siamese were a bit like them...but their breed wasn't like the two in the movie at all. My babies were very affectionate and loyal. Oh they were a pair when they were young, but they mellowed out with age. I will get another pair someday. My two lived for 16 and 17 years; they owned me, I served them.

  • I'm with you, dahliafully! F U Disney!!! So glad Peggy Lee FINALLY got her due against the EVIL Disney corporation before she left us! I loved this song when I was a kid. All of you cat phobic people-Get over it! It's a MOVIE! You might want to just stay in your house 'cause it's a big, bad, scary world out there. Sheesh! Thanks for putting this on YouTube to let everyone know how gifted Peggy Lee was.

  • what do you mean, 'got her due?' please, enlighten me. i want to know...:-)

  • She was only paid 3500 US dollars for all of her work on lady and tramp. She later sued and won a lawsuit giving royalty rights to the songs she wrote / recorded.

  • People look way to much into stuff. If people base a cats personality and demeanor off of what they seen in an animated childrens movie, then they are idiots. Politically correct? It's a cartoon. Everyone gets so damn offensive over everything. All cats are a little tempered, they don't take crap from no one and if they want to knock over your fish bowl they're gonna. It's not just siamese cats, its all cats. They're sly and devious sometimes.

  • Gosh, what a beautiful lady.

  • I don't care if the song is inpolitically correct, its an awesome song, an awesome movie, and the cats are cool

  • Its not politically incorrect. I've got a siamese cat, and I assure you she is exactly like that regardless what pleases or does pleases me.

  • This is why I named my own Siamese cat Peggy.

  • those cats used to scare me soo much lol

    she has a coool voice

  • For me, nothing beats a good ol' smooth female jazzvoice with a bit of attitude

  • i didnt like those cats either, but she did a really good job, shes amazing.

  • I hated those cats so much when I was little.. they were so evil and scary.. grrr!! the dogs were so much cooler :P

  • This movie gave Siamese cats a bad name. I Siamese cats could hold signs, they would probably picket Disney Studios for being politically incorrect.

  • @ematj

    I always loved them. :D

  • and the best part is, even after her stroke she made it into the courtroom, wheelchair bound, and won her lawsuit against Disney and she got her rightful dough for hard work.

Go to hell Mickey Mouse. Right on Peggy Lee!!!!

  • she went to cort ?

  • Now that is what I call a woman

  • wo That's a great piece of history right there..

    Fantastic post!

    Thank you!

    Rare stuff

  • Thanks for the upload!! It's pretty cool to see how these classics came to be.

  • wow she contributed alot to the movie more than i thought

  • @1PrincessFiona - I am amazed at what she did. She was a pioneer, an actress, the first famous singer-songwriter, and so much more.

  • She was so TALENTED and CLASSY!!!

  • Wow.. memories.

  • Lol, I remember this song used to freak me out when I was a kid.

  • I remember watching this on the disney channel years ago before they had all those kids shows. Thank you for posting this. it brings back memories.

  • great and interesting to know all that they did to make it real

  • I love this old cuts showing how they incorporated songs into to movie. I would of never thought she sang a majority of the songs in the film let alone both part of Siamese parts.

  • simply classic. peggy lee rules.

  • Wonderful document. I like the music of Peggy Lee so much.
