Curiously both boxers were born in the Philippines. Villoria was born in Ilocos while Donaire in South Cotabato. So technically there were two Filipino boxers in the light flyweight division of the 2000 Olympic Boxing tournament. Villoria, representing the US, and Danilo Lerio. Both fighters, however, made early exits in Sydney.

hello! the only reason US won 9 Olympic gold medals in 1984 is the USSR, East Germans and Cuba boycotted cuz the US boycotted the Moscow Games in 1980 protesting the invasion of Afghanistan.
