  • Damn, is that a Oak tree? Oak tree you're in my way. Live fast and die young. Pisses me off. Allen Collins is the reason I play.

  • my grandma is located near him /;

  • I WAS THE ONE THAT CRAPPED ON HIS GRAVE , FUCK IT , HE AIN'T SHIT AND I SHOULD BE PAID FOR DOING IT !

  • @forestroot You have been reported to the Duval County Sherrifs Office for desecrating a grave. Have fun get that fat asshole of yours plugged in jail, you filthy, stinking piece of flesh.

  • R.I.P Allen & your beloved Kathy...Allen, you were so talented and that is one thing. Those conflicts you encountered pre-crash were because of the power and the pressure & lack of life experience. So young, and your invincible. That was a whole separate area of your life, your mind and your heart for that matter. The tragedies you lived, you survived them the best way you knew how. I get it, my friend. You truly were on survival mode. I probably would of carried on in the same manner. <3

  • I'm from Indiana and made it a point to stop by here and Ronnie and Steve's memorials in Orange Park heading to Miami in 2003.

  • 21 years ago.. [*] Allen Collins [*] ;((

  • Amazing guitarist but sad sad story. Saw 3 of his friends die, saw his first and second wife die, was seriously injured twice, descended into drug addiction and alchoholism, and then died of car crash wounds. I feel that the Free Bird solo should be learned by every guitarist in memory of him

  • All my hero's are dead and gone.

  • REALLY RONNIE VAN ZANT, STEVE AND CASSIE GAINES ARE BURIED IN ORANGE PARK A PART OF JACKSONVILLE.. AND ALLEN COLLINS IS BURIED NEXT TO HIS WIFE AND FAMILY...THEY ARE AT PEACE BUT THEIR MUSIC WILL LIVE ON FOREVER...I LOVE YOU GUYS AND THANKS JOHNNY FOR KEEPING YOUR BROTHERS DREAM ALIVE....

  • @MsWolfprincess69 It is my understanding that Ronnie was moved to a private location, believed to be the Brickyard Row; where he lived with his wife and daughter when he died. Lacy (their dad) told me that his gravesite in Jacksonville was being desicrated and defaced and they brought him home in the late 1990's.

  • @jeannekwhite Ronnie, Allen, and Leon are all actually buried in the same cemetery - Jacksonville Memory Gardens. It's a big cemetery on both sides of the highway. Allen is on one side with his wife. Ronnie and Leon are buried on the other side of the highway. Ronnie and Leon's graves are very close to each other, too.

  • @MsWolfprincess69 Ronnie was originally buried right next to Steve Gaines in Orange Park, however his grave was vandalized and he was reburied next to his parents in Jacksonville Memory Gardens. Coincidentally Leon Wilkeson is buried about 20 feet away from Ronnie. Both are with their families, Leon with his parents, Ronnie with his. Allen Collins is buried in this same cemetery, too, but on the other side of the highway. It's a big cemetery.

  • you just know underground he has his own chiller with hendrix smoking some bud . I like to think that anyway

  • God bless you Allen! I will alwasy rember you! Thank you for your music that has so touched my life!

  • The tribute given to this great man is so well deserved. True artists always seem to live and die tourtured lives. His music has inspired my life and for that, and much more, im thankfull. If there is an after life, and no one hopes that to be the case more than I, I like to think the whole gang (minus one) is up there jamming together. Ok I now consider Johnney "a real member" so I'll say minus two.

  • My bad..He is buried beside his wife..

  • allen inspired me to play guitar, may the legend R.I.P

  • See that bench 'neath that tree? That's where I sit and play "Tuesday's Gone" and "Every Mothers Son". I stop over here to visit after I visit my kin 'cross the street through the gates and to the right of the Vanzants on AngelsCorner.

LONG LIVE YOUR GUITAR WRITING SPARKIN LARKIN ♫♪♪♫♪♫♠

  • I lvie in jacksonville flroida birth place of ronny and allen o:

  • @KISSfan567 i grew up there.

  • @tranurse It's a nice town.

  • we miss Allen , RIP

  • one of the all time greats RIP Allen

  • say that down hear in the south unitedstatesdale, yea he got drunk and high but was still a great guiterest and song writer he left his mark in life what are you leaveing ?

  • R.I.P

  • Allen Collins made many mistakes - fatal mistakes that could never be undone. But, he did try to do good also. We just had a crash here in Toronto, a guy doing 200 kph (124 mph) in THE CITY. Drunk, killed 3 members of one family. 'Wish people would listen.....to the cries of people left behind. You gotta take responsibility. Driving a car is a PRIVILEGE, not a RIGHT.

  • Why dont you put a lid on it. Its people like YOU who have the laws so frigging screwed up now that they can RUIN YOUR FRIGGING LIFE because you down a beer with a buddy and then get pulled over for a tail light. Ruin your frigging life.

No.. It's gone too far the other way now, Just goes to show that all people will be tyrants if they could. Despite what 'cause' you koo-koos like to place on it.

  • I am sure he is remorse for all the human carnal things he did. Nobody is perfect in this life. The bible says so.

  • Amen

  • RIP

  • Allen was paralyzed in 1986. He did not just fade away. In 1988 he founded Roll4Rock Wheelchair Events and Benefit Concerts. Allen's dream was to use music to raise awareness about spinal cord injury and other physical challenges. Please visit online for more information or to volunteer. Keep Allen's dream alive.

  • damn that little stone in the ground is the only thign they gave him after his legendary music makes me mad

  • @fallenangels999 Damn thats the first thing I thought about. Allen needs a head stone you can see from the road. This pisses me off thats all thats left of this ledgend besides the music. I think the band now should get together and buy this man a real head stone. This is bullshit. I guess people don't give a crap after time goes by. He was one of the founding fathers of this band. If Ronnie was here he would put a big ass stone over Allens head. Man now I'm pisseed.

  • rip Allen Collins

  • I saw the Allen Collins band in May of 1983...This was just after R/C had broken up and probably about 2 years after his wife had died...Molly Hatchett got him out to do "CROSSROADS" and he trashed the stage after it was over..He was WASTED...When I heard about his car crash I was SAD but not stunned...He was hurting apparently and was in a hurry to get out..One of my favorite guitar players of all time..

  • @SteveGaines i don't think he ever got over losing his buddies and then his wife. she either died in childbirth or having a miscarriage. i can't remember which. just that it was sad.

  • hope he is ripping up that firebird in heaven with his friends

  • gal5131, AC lost Kathy, & the baby, too. You know already about the car accident that killed his girlfriend, and paralised him. I got to know some of the stories, thru the Miami Project, which is a hospital/foundation to cure paralysis..can remember the "tribute tour" when he was there, in his chair..he passed away of complications of pneumonia, & like Christopher Reaves, never gave up the dream of a cure for paralysis. Stem cell research, needs to be kicked up a notch.

    Can you imagine.

  • Allen Collins is resting in Jacksonville, Florida..his wife Kathy is with him...He was a sweet and extremely talented man. God rest his soul and Ronnies' deans', Leon , Steve, Cassie and may God shine his love down on those of us who remain with the sweet memories we have of them all,,

  • I'm so sorry. His wife is deceased, also? What happened to her? Did she die after he did?

  • She died before him. She was pregnant, and had some type of complication that resulted in her ruptureing and artery while she was at the movies with friends. Basically, she bled out on the floor at a movie theater. Allen wasn't there. Dale Krantz-Rossington has said that she thinks he never really got over it.

  • How did he die? Where is Jacksonville? Mississippi? Can someone answer me, please.

  • Jacksonville is in north east Florida, on the east coast. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe he died from pneumonia, which was complicated by his spinal cord injury. Most quadriplegics are left with impaired breathing, which makes them more vulnerable to pulmonary complications. A sever case of Pneumonia can easily kill a quadriplegic.

It's a real shame that he died so young.

  • he was a paraplegic, not quad...but yes it was pneumonia that killed him because of complications from being paralyzed.

  • No. He was a quadriplegic. If he was a paraplegic, he would've still been able to move his fingers and could've played guitar like he did before his injury. He was able to move his arms because his spinal cord injury was incomplete, meaning that his spinal cord was not completely severed. I'm a C-5 incomplete quad and now I use a hot sauce bottle to play slide guitar because I can't move my fingers. I wish Allen had lived long enough to learn to play that way. He would've still been great. RIP

  • may oeace be with u allen

  • Hearing the Birds in the trees.... Allen is a Freebird.....He is Missed.....

  • My Favorite guitar player of all time, I hope after everything, you are at peace Allen.... got tears in my eyes....

  • we miss you Al. explorers just don't sound the same without you

  • I visted the graves of Ronnie, Steve and Cassie in Jacksonville..Allen is buried at a PRIVATE CEMETERY...Thought he would be buried beside his pals and bandmates...

  • This isn't a private cemetery.

  • @cschempp it's oaklawn isn't it??? off of san jose?

  • @tranurse It is my understanding that Ronnie was moved to a private location, believed to be the Brickyard Row; where he lived with his wife and daughter when he died. Lacy (their dad) told me that his gravesite in Jacksonville was being desicrated and defaced and they brought him home in the late 1990's.

  • @tranurse Jacksonville Memory Gardens

  • @SteveGaines allen collins was the singer or the guitarist that always wore flowerd shitrts

  • @carlosperezvidal Steve Gaines wore Flowered shirts...Allen Collins was the guy who played the solo on FREEBIRD..He always played either a Firebird or an Explorer...

  • allen was the real deal how much hurt @sadness can one takeallen your at last free as light soar into the heavens

  • I read your comment. What do you mean that he had hurt in his life. What happened to hurt him?

  • @beowulven Me Too.Rock On Dixiland..Rock On.!!

  • I grew up part of my life, in Orange Park FL. I wonder why nobody has posted video of Ronnie Van Zant's grave, in Orange Park.

  • it's a peaceful resting place for a man whose life reached the highest highs and the lowest lows and i dont think ever really rested anytime in between.

rest in peace sir & thank you for the music.
