Dude you've helped me no end! However I've got stuck now and cant seem to solve it through research and elbow grease so any help would be massively appreciated. Ive uploaded the wordpress folders to the server but when I type in my domain name I dont see the Wordpress "create a configuration" message. I just get a work in progree 1&1 page instead. I cant go any further following your tutorial because of this. Please help!

Thanks So much for your reply. I was able to do it after I did a little investigating into the folders. Each one was zipped within another folder, I had to unzip 5 folders buried within each other and then drag and drop the final one to the desktop before it would upload correctly into themes. Thanks again. This video rocked.

This video saved me $500. Instead of paying someone else I'm SO close to having this down pat! The only thing I'm stuggling with is the theme install. I'm using a shoppingcart template (Viroshop) from themeforest. Can you tell me if this should still be dropped into themes or are there more specific directions for this kind of template. @polochic36 If it's a purchased theme then it may help to contact the theme developer you purchased it from on how to install their themes. WordPress theme developers rocked, I'm sure he/she will be more than happy to help you out!

Not trying to sound dumb an all but can someone answer this for me. I already have a domain name so the site I got that from is that the same as a hosting site? or is hosting totally different.

@MsTanishaLynne Not dumb at all! Completely legit question! So in short you need 2 things for a website to live, a domain and a host. Many services package them together, so its very easy that you could get it mixed up. If you already have a domain then you would still need hosting. Getting them "linked up" I would contact your webhost (after you have it) and ask them how to setup the nameservers for your domain, they should be able to help you out.

If your using the lowest package on 1and1, wordpress is too big for it. You need to get the next package up.

You can upload the zipped file to 1and1, then unzip it in the file manager screen.

It will take less time to upload.
