  • hey what do the mic and line switch on the k12 do? i dont want to bust anything so i havent switched anything yet

  • @dejavu3552 It's a switch that will help your microphone sound better when you're using a mic directly plugged into a K-Series speaker. Mic & Line levels are very different levels. For instance, if you were pushing loud music through a speaker and then switched from Line to Mic, you would blast everybody and possibly do some damage at high volumes.

  • @BassIsLoadedDJ thanks so much yeah it got really loud but we didnt have anything playing so we were saved lol also i got another question, how do i get more bass to come through on my subs i have the gain set to twelve and pretty much crank it on the mixer i dont want to blow anything so im trying to play it safe

  • @dejavu3552 You can definitely bring the gain up a bit on the KSub to see if it sounds a little boomier. Each room/venue will be slightly different. You can't really do any damage to it. When you push the KSub too hard you will begin to notice that it starts to struggle a bit and sound different and that's the point you have to ease up on it a little bit. Try experimenting with the DEEP mode to see what sounds best too.

  • How do you get a summed mono signal if you daisy chain? Aren't the ksub outputs just mids and highs?

  • @turoniner The KSub outputs send out a signal identical to what is coming in, so expect to get a full range output. To get a summed mono signal, this either has to be both the left and right inputs going into the KSub from the mixer, OR a mono signal coming from your mixer and into one side or the other of the KSub.

  • Do you think that two k bass will be better than one 18 speaker? why please?

  • @nortru That all comes down to personal opinion, the types of events you do, and the venue.

  • This is such brilliant video!!! thank you so much for sharing it with us. your awesome DJ!!

    thumbs up.

can't wait to buy these next week!

  • I have a question to ask if you tune your mixer so that every vu meter is just taping in the amber and hook up one qsc k12 or 10 or 8 and put theyr volum just over three quarter of the way up after around 15 to 20 minutes will you start hiring distortion

  • @P1001AT2 Distortion is something you'd normally either hear immediately or not at all. You shouldn't just start to hear it after a few minutes. I would say this all comes down to what you're playing and what mixer you're using. There is an enormous difference from one mixer to the next. 3/4 on the QSC's seems a bit high. Most of the time you can run them at 12:00 (unity) and then adjust your gains and Master out accordingly. Sounds like your gains are set fine. Weird.

  • i dont think id trust behinger for the long haul.........

ive had a few of their products crap out on me......... i'll stick with QSC...... or see what the new Peavey 1200 watt...... ribbon tweater system sounds like.

  • @mysticradio that's a good way to put it...the long haul. With any gear, that is part of the price tag...confidence that it will look and sound like it did the day you bought it.

  • por the two way Behringer B815NEO 1200 watt..... they say they blow K series away...... but can you trust behringer for quality...... my K12's are 6 year warranty

  • @mysticradio Hey Mysticradio...I think you can tell alot about a manufacturer's confidence by their warranty. You're correct, 6 years with QSC. Behringers?? Not even close. But....I'm not a fan of trashing anybody's stuff...it's great to have options. I think with the entire Behringer line you get what you pay for. And I think for many people they will hear the Behringer product and be happy with it. But I think the difference is-one is good-one is great. Overall, the B815NEO is good.

  • Hey Rick, Thanks for your Message!!! I will be sure to check out agiprodj.com, PLEASE do keep intouch if ud like, and I will Keep watching. Thanks also I will keep ROCKIN" PA. Best Wishs in all your events. DJ Corey Williamsport PA

  • how many people could a pair of k10's or k12's cater too??

  • @josephdelrio A number of factors will determine this, including venue size, type of event, inside vs. outside, and even your overall evaluation of what you consider to be great sound. I think it's completely reasonable to say that a pair of K12's (larger throw) or K10's (wider throw but closer audience) could handle 200-300 people. I have done it. But anything beyond that and I'd add more speakers, or larger, or add subs & run the tops in EXT SUB mode for sure.

  • Hey Rick, AWESOME videos you have!!! LOVE QSC, I just bought the Ksubs, didnt even get to hear them yet. Very cool stuff. Love your videos, I learned alot about the QSC K stuff just by Watching....THANKS for all the info you supplied in your videos. Best Wishes! DJ Corey Williamsport PA

  • @kyle2284 What a great message, thank you Corey! Don't forget to check out agiprodj.com for great prices & service on gear. Keep rockin PA!

  • @BassIsLoadedDJ Hi Rick, just got all my QSC K speakers...FINALLY, Im gonna be doing a Video of them soon, ALSO Id like to give you a shout out in the video! Hope thats ok. Video is more for anyone who has questions on the QSC K speakers.

  • @kyle2284 How exciting! Looking forward to watching

  • @BassIsLoadedDJ Hi Rick I have the Video FINALLY Posted. If you search my Name you should be able to see it. Type BlastEntertainment84 in the search bar. I will pop up. the Video shout out to you is on my channel. Hope you Like!!! DJ Corey

  • Hey...Its me again...;)) Have you ever seen new Behringer B815NEO

DSP-Controlled 1,200-Watt 15" PA Speaker and EUROLIVE B1800D-PRO Active 1400-Watt 18" PA Subwoofer????? What do you think about them??? They seem to be stronger then QSC...??

  • @liptoneron I have not yet seen or heard the Behringers. Overall, that brand seems to be a good value. It's a tough comparison to the K-Series though because the K-Series has no 15" or 18" speakers. Now when the KW series launches, then that will be a more fair comparison, matching like-sized drivers. I believe Behringers have a 1-year warranty. QSC is 6. That's something to consider. That makes QSC more valuable for the life of the cabinet. I would bet $100 that K-series sound better though.

  • For the sub, what way would you have the polarity (phase) set up to give you the most bass. I am just starting to integrate sub's into my system and I am a little confused by this topic. I have seen it on some sub's as In or out, and on others as positive or negative? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • @Huppy105 A woofer pushes out on the (+) charge of an electrical signal. It retracts on the (-). Once in awhile a woofer will become out of phase which means that it fires at the opposite times it's supposed to. Doesn't sound like a big deal but when 2 subs in a system are out of phase their waveforms are mis-timed so you end up with dead areas. The switch is an easy fix if you suspect phase issues. You'll almost always run the switch as "normal" unless the bass is just dead, then reverse it.

  • whats the difference from the hpr122i and the k12s

  • @jr84wr I sent you a message directly on this. For the other viewers that are curious, HPR series is birch, and also doesn't have all the engineering features that the K-Series has. Stay tuned for the KW series! Everything we love about the K-Series in a birch cabinet. Can't wait to try them.

  • @jr84wr Hi There, Id like to comment on your question, Maybe I have an answer 4 U if someone didnt answer your question yet? Diff between Hpr122i and the K12. Right off the bat, The k12 speaker pushes More power. Hpr122i's have a 500 watt amp where the k12 speaker has a 1,000 watt amp. in sound. if you check out the 2 side by side you may find that the high's are alittle better with the K12 speakers. Hope this helps!

  • Heey Rick, that actually is REALLY COOL fitting those subs underneath the table

i know from experience that a LOT of people are gonna think like WOW those speakers push a lot of bass for K12's:p

can you imagine the faces of the people when in the middle of your event that table cloth starts waving quite much. cool

  • Is it really ok to put the KSubs under a table with a skirt? Should we worry about overheating? I was told not to do this because the air flow is cut off.

  • @adj4undc I would never suggest doing this for a high dB event where you're pushing the system all night. But for events where part of the night includes background and/or cocktail music it's no problem at all. In addition, the fact that I have two subs side by side means I don't have to push a single sub all that hard. At the end of this particular event (after two hours of higher dB dance music) these subs were just barely warm. Thanks for watching.

  • @BassIsLoadedDJ Thanks for getting back too me so fast. I have watched your K-Series video's over and over again. But I must say the one that to this day has me scratching my head is when you put your equipment in that Toyota? Every time I see a Prius on the street I say theres no way! I almost have the same amount of equipment I think I'm going to have to rent a Prius LOL Thanks dude for putting out these great videos. Keep them coming! (smile)

  • you can also increase your bass with your k subs by running them in mono, instead of stereo so that they are hitting in phase instead of stereo where they are not necessarily going to be hitting at the same time. give it a try! just a tip, and i think that the poineer mixer might have a subwoffer out. which is ideal for powered subs. very nice subs! im a non powered sub guy meself but those are very nice looking for the size and weight.

  • @djsareawesome That's great advice, and any dj's out there that have the means to pull that off should definitely do it. The DJM-3000 does not have a SUB out.

  • @BassIsLoadedDJ ah thats to bad, i wasnt sure. my denon does, you could always consider just running the out of one of your speakers into your one sub and then parallel it into the next, makes a huge difference.

  • Hey man Im A starting dj and I was wondering if you need an am for those speakers, I want some good quality speakers for small partys, I am buying the numark ns7 and I wanted to kno how the speakers would hook up to it..

  • @jr84wr These speakers are self-powered, meaning the amp is contained within the speaker cabinet itself. I'll send you an email directly about hooking it up to the NS7.

  • Hey...what do you think about JBL MRX-515 & JBL MRX-518S?? How would you compare to QSC K12 and Ksub ??

  • @liptoneron Round 1-MRX515 vs. K12's...goes to the K12's...hands down. Round 2-MRX518S vs. KSub...I would probably call this a draw. This is a tough one to compare. Both have similar weight, frequency response, and SPL (although KSub specs say dB is greater). I think you end up with two completely different designs and sounds. My feeling is that the KSub will sound better at low-to-moderate volumes. But when really pushing, I think the 518S might sound better overall. Tough call on the sub.

  • Does the KSUB have a built in cross over? Or would you just select "Ext Sub" on the K series tops to keep the lows in sub and the high and mid in the tops?

  • @Huppy105 The KSubs do not have a built in crossover. The K8's, K10's, and K12's do, and that's when you'd engage the EXT SUB setting. That will just cut off the last 100Hz from the main cabinets. This will have no effect on the KSubs whatsoever. This is a little different than most subs that have the crossover built into the sub.

  • Rick,

Do these subs work with all powered speakers?

  • Yes, they will work with all powered speakers and provide both a line level IN and OUT

  • Great vid. Love the K series. In your opinion, what would be the benefits of a K sub over the JBL 518 Eon Sub and Vise-Versa? I do events from small to large and need something with a lot of deep end that can handle a small venue or a large dance.

    -Drew

  • Spec-wise you'll get a lower frequency response with the 518 (37Hz vs. 44Hz) which will give you a deeper bass feel vs. the two 12" subs in the KSub which will be a little tighter and punchier. I've never owned a 518 to compare from personal experience. I like that the KSub has casters on it, that makes moving in and out so much easier. If you're going to do anything BIG I would lean towards the 518 (and a pair of them). However at NAMM, QSC provided sound with 3 KSubs on EACH side. Awesome!

  • Was just wondering which tops are you using in this video? They look pretty small for the k10/12s =/

  • K12's

  • Rick,

Where the Makies you use to have 15 or 12"? And what model number?

    -Brian

  • I've used a number of Mackie's but I think the ones you may be referring to in other videos were 12" SRM450 v2's.

  • Hey Rick.... What mixer do you use?

  • The one you see in this video is a Pioneer DJM-3000

  • I onnce owned the Mackie 450 tops and srw15 subs... After many problems with the subs. I went to QSC K10's and 3 KSubs.. They are Fantastic !

  • Dont worry, I cant steal your business! Im in Wichita Kansas... LoL Just kidding. I love your setups and knowledge as a DJ. Its true there are many DJ's out there who use sucky setups so he looks to be one you wont ever have to worry about. We offer photography with my company also so we get to see other DJ setups and many have a huge mess with speakers sitting on the floor. I dont understand it, dont they EVER upgrade? Only a few of the many events I have seen used a powerful and nice setup.

  • I just noticed you use a mac. Nice, so much better huh? I use a mac for music and a PC for lighting. The PC is ready to be a backup just in case something happens to the mac (even though I doubt that will ever happen). Im a two of everything person also but I only have one powered sub for now. That will be changing in a few weeks. I will be getting another sub for me and new everything I have on my system for the second DJ working for me. We are just too busy!

  • Is this just an upgrade to your DJ system or a additional system you use? Im Going to be buying 4 JBL SRX dual 15"'s and 2 dual 18" subs for larger venues. I was thinking about just getting a second sub for my JBL eon 515 & 518S set although Im interested in there QSC's too. QSC is the only type of power amps I will use although I have never seen their speakers in action.

  • I plan on getting two QSC K 12", I do plan on getting the sub but do you think that would be sufficent for small venues that hold about 150 people or is the sub mandatory for that size venue?

  • 2 K12's in DEEP mode will sound great with 150 people in a small venue. If it's the KSub you're considering adding in the future, you will notice a slight difference but not major. 2 KSubs will be noticeably improved. But for now I think you'll be pleased with the K12's. Check out agiprodj when you're ready to make the purchase, they'll hook you up!

    Thanks for watchin...

    Rick

  • Thank you for your quick response and advice. Your videos and agiprodj videos have been very informative.

  • BY THE WAY.. I' M GETING 2 OF THE 12" AND 1 QSC HPR181i SUB, THANKS!

  • HEY MAN !..THIS IS LUIS. ALLRIGHT , I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU. I' M LOOKING TO SETUP A DJ AND KARAOKE SYSTEM WITH THE BEST IN TECH, "Q S C". HOW DO YOU DEFINE IN MATTER OF SOUND AND POWER,BETWEEN THE QSC HPR122AND THE QSC K12 ?. IT' S JUST THAT I WANT TO MAKE MY BEST CHOICE BETWEEN THIS TWO ; KNOWING THAT THE HPR122i IT COST $900-150 REBATE,AND THE QSC K12 IT' S ONLY $799. PLEASE HELP ME TO CLEAR UP MY MIND. I WILL BE WAITING FOR YOUR ADVICE. THANKS MAN

  • Hey Luis-Congrats on the new system man. My feeling is that the better value is the K12, not only from a price standpoint but also there are a ton of features engineered into the K-series that just aren't there with the HPR. These include the sound engineering like DMT, Intrinsic Correction, and DEEP, but also overexcursion protection with their GuardRail feature. Also Tilt-Direct is a nice addition to the K-Series and the multitude of back panel inputs for flexibility. Get the K12's!

  • No Built In Crossover On The K~12 Subs? Also Is The K~12 Made To Go w/ The K~12 Top or The K~10? Good Vid; Keep Up The Great Work!

  • The KSub works with all the K-series (K8, K10, & K12), all of which have an External Sub setting that have a crossover point of 100Hz. The KSub itself does not have a crossover, so it accepts full range input, but obviously can only reproduce the frequency range that the woofers are physically able to reproduce in the first place. Thanks for watchin...

    Rick

  • hey rick

what's your opinion on having the k8s and pairing them up with the hpr-181i? i am thinking about selling my hpr-152is and getting another 181i sub, but don't want to get into a situation where i book an extremely large event, and don't have enough for my high cabs. right now, the 152s are getting NO PLAY, but are good to have if/when needed.

just curious if you think that the k8/181 combo would be sufficient enough for big rooms, that it would make it okay to let these 152 go.

    bb

  • I think you'd be very happy with the K8's a majority of the time. Similar to you, I have a pair of Mackie SA1521's that I just don't have the heart to sell because once in awhile I need the extra horsepower. Your 152's crank out +8db over the K8's (almost twice the output) and will hit 47Hz vs 61. But, if you ran the K8's hard on the EXT Sub setting (100Hz crossover) you would love them and the only two issues would be missing the big boys occasionally, and the visual "smallness" of the K8's

  • i have done events with two k8s and one hpr 181. do the ksubs have enough power if i ran just one for now until im able to save up for another? i spin venues that are usually medium in size, about 250 capacity.

  • As an HPR181i owner already, I think you may be disappointed with the KSub for the events you do. They just can't compare to the 181's. Now technically, you'd have more power in the system with a single KSub than you would a single 181, but the sound will be different. I can see venues where you would be pleasantly surprised by how great the KSub sounds. But just keeping it real, I have a feeling you might be disappointed. The K8's are awesome. Thanks for watchin...

    Rick

  • hey man this is luis, I just want to say thanks, for sharing your knowledge... I really apriciated. I was doubtful about the k-series, especially the k12's they are powered with "1000 watts",I don' t really understand, because some of my friends say that those are acctually "500 watts". do you know anything abou it? thanks man!

  • Hey Luis, the K-Series got it's name from the 1,000-watt amps they put in all four of those speakers, from the K8 to the KSub. I suppose one way to look at this is like you would with horsepower on an engine. Just because a vehicle is rated at X number of horsepower doesn't mean it's capable of running there continuously. But it means when you have to push it hard, the vehicle can do it. The K-Series can handle those extremely fast millisecond burts of power up to 1000watts beautifully. Thx!

  • Nice!! I was wondering if you got the ksubs since the last vids on the new k series, they are so nice!

  • Yeah, I love to have just the right speakers for every application. The other thing I completely forgot to mention in this video is that the mounting pole is INCLUDED with the KSubs. That is a huge bonus and to my knowledge is something you have to purchase with every other speaker manufacturer. Although this particular setup I didn't mount the mains on top of the KSubs there are instances where you would and the pole is super nice. Thanks for watching...

    Rick

  • Rik,

Can I ask, Are you K Subs suitable for large rooms?

  • Well...it depends. For ambiance, absolutely. If you are providing sound reinforcement for dancing in a large room, I wouldn't be as confident. They sound great in smaller rooms and you can push them to levels that still sound good. When you get into bigger rooms, lots of people, or outside events, you begin to hear their limitations.

    Thanks for watchin' man...

    Rick

  • Thank you. I appreciate the unselfish sharing from a true professional. I am using 2 K8's and 2FBT MAXX4a's. I dont have $ yet for subs but Ksubs will ideal for my situation. Jamey

  • Hey Jamey-You're very welcome! The K8's are an incredible speaker, and I hope to put a video together on those in the near future. They have the widest coverage angle of all the K-Series (105 degrees) and sound incredible. So many great uses for that speaker.

    Thanks for watching...

    Rick

  • hey i have a question i wana get the makie hd and one peaqvey qw118 if i put the sub under the table will it take the sound away?the fasade ois made of pbc pipi and fabric. Also how wold i conect the to power speaerks and the passive speaekr do i need a crossovere and if yea how do i conect it and wat is a good crossover hope u can help thanks

  • Hey Brian-If you haven't bought these already, I would consider going with an all powered system from the same manufacturer. The Mackie HD's aren't worth the money in my opinion, and side by side I have compared the QSC K12 to the HD1521. To me the QSC sounds better. I would take a K12 and an HPR181i any day over what you're looking at. Having said that, if you've already purchased them, look at any crossover that will let you send the low freq's to Peavy amp and high signal to the HD.

  • thanks alot man

  • and do u think does qscs are better than the jbl prx

  • Comparing subwoofers, I'd say it's a wash and it comes down to personal preference. For the main cabinets, my vote goes to the K-Series because 1) Better design & engineering 2) My ears tell me they sound better and 3) Best warranty in the biz at 6 years! Take that for what it's worth, as it's just my opinion. JBL makes a fine product but to me the K-Series just flat out looks and sounds better.

    Thanks Brian.

  • thanks alot man it realy helped i love ur voiideos by the way if u can can u make a gig log oone day

  • Thanks Rick. I have one K-10 & Ksub and we are still in the Honeymoon phase, and I really love it, & the way it looks. I am so proud of it - just like you are. I am sure it can do more, I just need to play with it more. Suggestions are welcome. I have all the cables color coded to the inputs so anyone could hook up my system. Not that I would LET anyone. But it is very simple.

    Casey

  • Hi Casey! Great to hear from you as always. Glad you're loving your K-Series stuff. It has been surprising to me just how impressive this series has been and how many DJ's & musicians are becoming not just owners of the K-Series, but great fans as well. I'll be the first to admit it, I am excited to show my QSC stuff off and tell everyone I know about the product.

Hope your holidays are great Casey!

    Rick

  • I've actually done that with my powered sub. I stuck my EV sba760 under the table, fit perfectly, but I got concered with unwanted vibrations to my external hard drive and laptop so I actually had to pull the sub out enough so that all the bass is projected forward (sba760's are front loaded with a single 15"). Did you notice any vibration on the table that might've been a concern for sensitive computer equipment?

  • The vibration wasn't excessive at all, but I can see how certain subwoofers placed a certain way would rock your table and components. Congrats on having a sub as part of your system. Thanks for watchin...
