your hips torso belly movements were good I cant help but notice your arms need to be more graceful they look too stiff as well as your hands. Other than that great performance and keep improving!!!
this beauty here can be a massive star if she can continue the effort,, the only thing she needs is a slight touch of refinement combined with some more ( braking) of the muscles ,,definitely a big star in near future,,salonica,,greece.
@vasilis717 Thank you so much for this wonderful comment! You have no idea how much inspiration I get from positive people like you!!! This is what makes me want to keep dancing!! =) Again, thank you so much!!
@gigiontube Just because she has competition doesn't mean she's laughable. You don't know how long she's been doing this for. She's no prodigy but it doesn't mean that she cannot surpass Sadie
My comment wasn't about the dancer being laughable. The dancer was fine, I liked her very much. And I surely appreciate anyone's effort on doing anything to better herself.
I said LOL to the vasilis comment " can be a massive star" followed by "the only thing she needs is ...."
It takes A LOT to be a MASSIVE STAR ; it's a combination of pure innate talent, lots of hard work of mastering technique and conditioning the body so all that hard work to look easy and flawless.
U must trust ur body... if it turns, drag ur body with it until you feel isolations. The hips were ok, keep arms loser. All in all, u did good. Watch Sadie here on YouTube. She was on America's Got Talent... U can look for moves from Lebanese, Arabic, Egyptian, and Russian Belly Dance--- every country that has rythmn individualizes where certain moves go. I hav a great vid on my page for arms!!!!
@TahshaTPitsMe Thanks for your comment! I really take comments like this seriously because I'm trying to improve as much as I can and it's easier when someone else points things out that I don't see! By the way, this performance was in a workshop with Sadie in Austin so I know exactly who she is!! =) She's a huge inspiration!!!
I enjoyed watching this more than some of the major competition videos because you can tell you are enjoying yourself. Sure, you're still learning...but aren't we all? I hope you continue to dance as you have great potential.
you're doing a good job, just like the others said you have to work on the arms, maybe try some isolations ..... and also just regarding this video (i haven't looked at any others) you're completely misunderstanding the music :S this is a saidi song from egypt you can characterise it with the classical mizmar instrument and the rythm that goes dum tak - dum dum tak , it's a bit sad that you don't bring the folkloric part of the song into your choreography, listen to the music and u'll be great

I can undurstand what it means to forget. You feel so good about the choreo that you fix up then when it comes down to it its all gone. its happend to me.
well i am of Egyptian heritage and teach in L.A. and i you look cute. I really i love the music . But in a few years i can see you get better. I feel like you are missing the essence of what is belly dance that is that it is graceful and sensual and your arms are missing that. I do not see you follow through with the movement i feel like you are only giving your audience 85 %. I think the choreography needs a little more work but good isolations.
Thank you for the tips! I was a little nervous that day and at the time had never had formal training. I taught myself. I'm still trying to work on my arms =) Thanks for the comment! It really helps!
That was great for an improvisation. I would have thought it was choreographed. Actually I don't think your arms were too bad, but the follow through with the movement out to your hands could use some work. They were mostly limp and almost cupped in on themselves which really traps the energy from visually flowing through. Your hipwork was wonderful.
that was really good .....i am a belly dancer my self and i am only 11 years old and been doing it for a very long time .also i have a belly daning convention in May and i am starting to train the dance but this time i can't pic my dance my trainer dose : [ i hope i do as well as you did!!!
Being able to improvise well is a key skill, and I think you did that really well! The important thing is that you dance from the heart; I second kamiradancer.
Tips for arms: do drills moving the arms through various positions and think about whether an arm movement is led from the hand, wrist, or elbow. Keep the energy going out through your finger tips and don't drop the arms at the end of a drill. Pose or float the arms back to a neutral position. They'll soon get used to not hanging around!
Hi, thanks for the comment =) actually, I don't go anywhere to practice either. I learned through youtube videos learning choreographies from Shakira, Sadie, Bozenka, Didem, and all those great belly dancers. So just keep practicing and you will do better and better!=)
This was quite lovely. You looked like you were calm and enjoying yourself, you smiled alot, and i didnt think your arms were that bad. if you look at some of the professional dancers, many of them dont have very good arms. Fabulous hip isolations and good stage presence! Happy dancing:)
ur the best belly dancer i ever knew omg ur really great i bet u that every girl that see's u wants to dance like u and i do is well and btw am a girl lol
A good effort, considering that you improvised on the spur of the moment.
I agree about the awkward arm movements, they are difficult to do well. Try to use less arm waving, and if in doubt just raise them elegantly above your head and turn your back to the audience, concentrate on hip movements and weaving the body: this will enthral the men.
i dont know if u got my previous comment but i like ur video, i dont care if u dont =) and i admit they song dosent sound like lil kids but but in person it does lol
I could tell how nervous you were, and how you lost it. Next time, practice in front of your friends. That sure helped me when I did my first performance!
