i am debating on which to get right now... tax return present to myself. But I can not decide because I like some of the kool things the touch can do. However, I have 230 gigs of music. So I can not decide which is better to go with.

@aromsolrac01 well 1gb can have about 250 songs. so for 8gb I'd say 2,000 songs but If you are talking about an ipod with 8gb they don't really come with exactly 8gb for storage, they come with about 6gb.
Well I like the iPod touch more because it's more useful and you can do a hell of alot more with it because I currently do not have a smart phone(or any cellphone for that matter) but when it comes down to music the classic wins with the ability to store a whole lot more and the touch wheel is a classic favorite of mine.
I don't really get it, do you have to BUY every single song you want on your iPod through iTunes, or can you just download them for free and put them on your iPod (like I do on my blackberry)

I love the circular control of the ipods, I like the fact of controlling my music without take my player out of my pocket, so that's why I consider the classic better than the touch.
I would like to point out why the touch loads music and videos faster. The touch is all flash based memory where the classic uses an actual hard drive like the one in your computer. Anything that is flash based memory will always be faster.

Ipod touch is more for looks than anything else. I have an Iphone and an Ipod classic, and I'm a happy camper. It's kind of sad how Ipod's have become some what of a necessity for the world, but it can't be helped. Apple is one of the best companies when it comes to electronics.
I've had both and the itouch is a gimmick that's all it is. Battery life sucks, the screen gets dirty, it's fragile as hell, and it's to expensive for what it's worth. Classic all day, good battery life, lots of memory, and solid durability.
@St4rSt0rm I have an iPod and have none of those problems. if your battery is running out quickly turn of wifi when ur not using it, and put the brightness low. also i've found my iPod touch to be very durable, even after dropping it on concrete and wood several times. the only problem i've ever had is the headphone jack got loose. yet even that is replaceable.
the classic might be less expensive for 'what it's worth' for more memory, but the touch isn't bad.

i have the ipod touch 4 and the wifi sucks because you need the password and you cant be at over 20 feet away from the wifi because the the wifi on ipod well be way to poor, and it's mostly made for games and the gb is way to small, i rather have the ipod classic

One of my parents own an itouch and I must say, it is pretty nice, but I'd still go with the classic, because my only goal to accoplish with an I-pod is MUSIC. If I want to watch I movie, I watch it on the plasma screen, If I want to play games I pull out the console, If I want to browse the net I pull out the laptop. =p Thats just me though.
I had and still have a Ipod Touch for 2 years now, and just got the 160gb 7th generation black ipod classic in the mail 3 days ago. I love the classic, the touch is alright. I would definitely recommend the ipod classic though because of space.

@misternef hmm....I'm not too sure on that one, but I do know that the ipod type has nothing to do with the music quality. Like I said, its the quality of the mp3/ACC/whatever file you are using and the headphone quality.
@misternef the classic is louder than the touch. Its a shame, but ive tested the 2 countless times ever since i got my touch an its always the classic that has a louder sound, especially with car stereos and headphones its more noticeable, hope this helps :]

My opinion on these 2 apple devices are that the classic is better. I had a touch and yeah dont get me wrong its good.. but an ipod is used for MUSIC not for stupid little games which some are like £6! if you want a hand held device to play games buy a psp or something like that. the 4g touch is a 100 times better. this review is old. The touch now can play HD VIDEOs. so videos u download off youtube can be put on. It has an hd video camera and hd camera built in it. the internet has rentena a. its perfect. The classic DOES NOTHING but play music and play standard defnition videos.

this is quite a biased review ( i saw the part2). you just can't compare the best MUSIC player yet to come IPOD CLASSIC to the ipod touch. it's too different. the classic was made to carry your music library to everywhere you go. the touch in the other hand it's just a "cool" multimedia player in which you spend your money in apps, you get bored of one you buy another... that's not the point of an ipod. and the classic is so much robust, more clean, classic, just the perfect ipod.

One of my parents own an itouch and I must say, it is pretty nice, but I'd still go with the classic, because my only goal to accoplish with an I-pod is MUSIC. If I want to watch I movie, I watch it on the plasma screen, If I want to play games I pull out the console, If I want to browse the net I pull out the laptop. =p Thats just me though.

I had and still have a Ipod Touch for 2 years now, and just got the 160gb 7th generation black ipod classic in the mail 3 days ago. I love the classic, the touch is alright. I would definitely recommend the ipod classic though because of space.

@misternef Simple. Sound quality depends on the headphone and digital audio quality. Touch has a speaker that makes noise, classic doesnt.

@Jungleboy867 Alright. If you used the exact same headphones and the exact same digitally recorded song which one has better sound quality and which one can get louder than the other? I don't care about the speaker as I would always be wearing headphones.

@misternef hmm....I'm not too sure on that one, but I do know that the ipod type has nothing to do with the music quality. Like I said, its the quality of the mp3/ACC/whatever file you are using and the headphone quality.

@misternef the classic is louder than the touch. Its a shame, but ive tested the 2 countless times ever since i got my touch an its always the classic that has a louder sound, especially with car stereos and headphones its more noticeable, hope this helps :]

@Queen2107 Quite helpful! Thank you! I am still shocked they haven't been able to make a touch with as much storage space as the classic. I thought surely at least the Ipad would, but even it could not compete with the storage of an ipod classic. Now to hear that the classic even has better sound it's no contest any longer.

My opinion on these 2 apple devices are that the classic is better. I had a touch and yeah dont get me wrong its good.. but an ipod is used for MUSIC not for stupid little games which some are like £6! if you want a hand held device to play games buy a psp or something like that. Also the storage space is so much better on the classic than on the touch.

the 4g touch is a 100 times better. this review is old. The touch now can play HD VIDEOs. so videos u download off youtube can be put on. It has an hd video camera and hd camera built in it. the internet has rentena a. its perfect. The classic DOES NOTHING but play music and play standard defnition videos.

@redskins2k if i wanted a camera i would got get mine, if i wanted internet i would go on my mac, if i wnted games i would go on my xbox, i understand where you are coming from they are very clever and multitask, but looking at what you get fore money... same price, 8gb, 160gb, and when you say does nothing but play music, well im sorry i was lead to believe that ippods wre inteneded to play music.
But yes the touch is clever little machine ;D

I personally think that the itouch is a waste of money. the more you have downloaded the longer it takes to load things. the storage space isn't very large. not desirable if yo really enjoy music.. I simply adore the classic. you can download like four or more movies and still have tons of space for music! i dont know, i only wrote this comment cuz he was dissin my classic! haha.

the reason it takes longer on the classic is because it is a spinning hard drive as apposed to the flash on the touch I say CLASSIC i still have my iPod photo all though it doesnt work :(

I've got an ipod touch 8gb for over a jear now, and the battery life is just so bad!
i can listen for about 6 hours of music, and watch for an hour of movies.

this is quite a biased review ( i saw the part2). you just can't compare the best MUSIC player yet to come IPOD CLASSIC to the ipod touch. it's too different. the classic was made to carry your music library to everywhere you go. the touch in the other hand it's just a "cool" multimedia player in which you spend your money in apps, you get bored of one you buy another... that's not the point of an ipod. and the classic is so much robust, more clean, classic, just the perfect ipod.

Dude, ur review sucked. You completely downplayed the classic the whole time. The classic is waaaaaaayy better than the touch. If you are really into music and have more than like 100 songs, don't waste your money, buy a classic. iPods are for MUSIC!!!, no friggin videos and itunes. GO CLASSIC!!!
