I'm sure I first got wind of East 17 in the NME or Melody Maker and recall drug references with none of the later controversy. Seems to me they just got positioned as a boy band with a need for a clean image by virtue of increased fame and the growing trend for the media to perceive bands in those terms at the time.

This band are a good example of how image is assigned by factors other than music. I've just been reminded of this track by you-know-what and to my ear (admittedly not the most appreciative of dance music) it's indistinguishable from more "credible" adult-oriented examples of the genre. Why are terms like "pop" and "boy band" used? What is a boy band - any all-male combo with a large following of young females? - That's a lot of bands. And what would make them "Rock" or "Dance" rather than pop?

Not unless it was originally recorded on 35mm movie stock. If it was recorded with video cameras, forget it. There were no 1080 video cameras in 1991. There might by a reasonable 480p version if you know where to find it.

And most music videos were recorded on camcorders especially low budget ones like this, so I'd say there is no HD version.

A small number of music videos were recorded onto 35mm which is good enough for HD, but I'm pretty sure this isn't one of them.
