@ochrasysartist nope ;) not gonna happen. Glad you like the video, though. Use the chord tabs at the beginning, watch the video a few times, and use your ear. Learning to do it with your ear will do a lot more for you than the paint-by-number approach.
The fingering is clearly visible...what more do you need ? Watch the clip and try it out - takes a few minutes and it's clear and gives you more than learning stupid tabs.
You know what? I did! I just spent a couple of hours with your video (and one or two others, including the extraordinary Andy Brown's version) and did it. Ended up staying with Dm because it's that little bit easier for my voice, but used your chord shapes and it's sounding halfway there. Thank you again.
I happened upon an attempt at this great song last night, using a Dm shape for the opening chords and picking about 3 strings... Very bad, but it is *such* a great song that it sounded OK. Now I've discovered your video and been inspired to start again and get it right. I'm having a hard time figuring out the chords but it is such a great song that I'm determined to get there. Thank you!
@TopJimmyWinn This is in Eb minor (with a hint of Eb major on the C minor chord). I don't think there is a best key, personally - if you learn the structure, you can play it in any key. unfortunately, this video is not much of a structure lesson ;)
Matt, Thanks for the lesson. After picking this up from your lesson, I played an acoustic version at a local coffee shop. You can check it out on my channel if you would like to the see the fruits of your generosity.
if you or anyone is having trouble with the intro and the riffy bits, play around with the 8th fret on the G, 6th fret on the B, and 9th fret on the B thrown in every now and again
its not always clear to see what he's playing in the vid, so i thought i'd help out a little, but not so much that i'm doing it all for you!
i posted tab for the chords in the video, if you stick to picking those, you'll get the basic idea. You might have to watch the intro a few times to get that. Keep trying, you'll get it.
Thanks Matt for bringing this beautiful song to many people, if you guys want to hear a different way of playing it check also Antonio Forcione instrumental version, just Amazing :)
awesome! is there any way that you could post some tabs for the fingering?

that's really great, bravo! like original and i would like to learn to play it, do you have any tab for it. i would be very gratefull
MultiStele 2 years ago
the tab is at the beginning of the video, on the frame that says "Chords". you might want to copy those down. There's only 4 or 5 in the whole song.
