What goes on in the conscious mind is 10% of what drives us, 90% rests in the subconscious where we have programmed ourselves to react auto-pilot in recreating experiences. That's why in cases of split personality, a disease present in one personality spontaneously disappears when the person shifts to another one. Companies spend millions promoting disease on TV by selling its cure while our brain in alpha state sucks it in as truth.
I got a lot out of her book, Why People Don't Heal, but I'm not sure I agree, here - we look for a spiritual meaning to events because we're narcissists? I think a lot of us search for a higher meaning because of teachings like hers about our physical lives are a mere expression of the spiritual realm.
