  • This is excellent! Very good work!

  • I have a friend who looks exactly like Beef, lol! When I tell him that he sort of gets mad at me! xD

  • The best!!!!!

  • Great video!

    What songs did you use? ^^;

  • Paul Williams wrote all the songs for the movie. I pulled a few of my favorites off the soundtrack.

  • Ah, cool. Thanks!

  • Wow. The best trailer out there and it's fan made. It's always billed as a total horror movie or some kind of light-hearted musical comedy. Well done!

  • ..ok, now it makes sense..I was working for Leon Russell who was offered the Swan role, had no idea about the Spectre thing....but Leon worked tons for PS, and turned it down. A classic, I still knwo every word to this soundtrack.

  • In the original script Swan's character was originally named Spectre, but was changed at the last minute in fear of a lawsuit from Phil Spector. Paul Williams wanted Karen Carpenter to play Phoenix, but the role went to Jessica Harper instead.

  • I disagree that Phoenix willingly (knowing with full intent - like Swan) sold her soul to become a pop star. She was certainly willing to do whatever it took, but she was ignorant as was Winslow, although I do agree with you. He was more of the victim than Phoenix was.

  • But Winslow went down fighting! The scene in the record plant was NEVER my favorite, but even less so, now, that I know what nearly happened to William to get that scene done. What he went through, and chicken little williams didn't have the guts to stand up to barb, on the principle matter of Evergreen lyric credit...All he had to do was stand up to her in the public arena and he didn't have the gut to do that! Faust: Words and Music: W.Leach

  • You know, I keep reading, and rereading all that Streisand/Williams crap. I really am clueless. But, it does seem like Paul possibly drank the kool-aid. :(

If anything, when you watch Phantom enough times, you learn to have a pair, and stand up for yourself.

  • "If anything, when you watch Phantom enough times, you learn to have a pair, and stand up for yourself. " AMEN!! Which is why I have always had a problem with Williams' NOT standing up to her. He had the reputation, he had the resources, he had the proof. Winslow had O of three. Not to worry, I've gotten into this debate with PotP fans who didn't 'get it'. I'm BIG into principle. William took THE hugest risk. Williams should have had as much gumption.

  • Techincally the main person who sold his soul to become a pop star was Swan. Poor Winslow and Phoenix became his victims in his conquest for power, control, and fame.

  • I'd say the main person who did it was Phoenix. She's the only one who actually gave up who she was, her goodness and dignity. Swan was always a monster and Winslow was always a victim of the system, but Phoenix was a good person with integrity and pride before Swan got to her, contracts or otherwise.

  • I'm not sure if Swan was always a monster - he certainly was very self-centered and a meglomaniac, but you can't say that for certain he was always a monster. Perhaps, he had a relationship that woman near the end of the movie with the locket, but (as one song said) "his pipe dreams became obsession and evil did take possesion of him after he sold his soul to the Devil".

  • woohoo! best tralier I've seen for this film..XD

  • All 3, RadioCow, and morrrrre!

  • thx 4 heads up gorilla. and all winnipegers thank you

  • Hmm... a comedy.. a horror... a thriller or a romance...?

  • it's three, three. three movies in one. How's that for some 70's nostalgia? :)

  • I love this movie and trailer...

This is also one of Gerard Way's favorites!

  • This is the best trailer of The Phantom of the Paradise. Excellent Job!!!!

  • This movie is awesome

  • I absolutely LOVE this movie. It was my mom's favorite when she was growing up.. It quickly became one of mine as well.

  • I totally agreed that Brian DePalma's most underrated film, "Phantom of the Paradise,"

I remember when I was a teenager in the 80's

in Dominican Republic they use to show it in TV and it was a hit, but in U.S. NOT , POOR JUDGMENT I WILL SAID ???

  • Okay, I've got to see this NOW.

  • Excellent clip of an outstanding movie!

  • Good job! It was better than the real thing!

  • Amen! Brilliant stuff!

  • Hey you! Was wondering what happened to you, my Canadian friend.

This is Tracy, the other Mrs. Leach! :)

How have you been, my dear?

  • Doing well, but busy! Haven't seen the movie in a while, but this April marks the third anniversary of phan pal 2. Time, she's a flying! SOOOOOO glad I got the chance to hug William. He totally deserved it! Must say, this trailer is WAY better than what fox put out, by a landslide. BRAVO for the excellent work! Rumor has it that SPRING is coming. Good thing I don't listen to unsubstantiated rumors. Ha, ha.

  • awesome trailer i lvoe that movie! you can get phantom of the paradise t-shirts and sumogorilladotcom

  • Worlds best Movie Quote

  • great movie!! It's my favourite

  • I love this movie

  • That's brilliant!

It's as good or better than most trailers out there - you even had a zinger at the end.

    Loved it!

  • Aye Carrumba, this is BRILLIANT!!!!!! I've always wanted to do something like this!!!! WHO did this??????? I have similar dialogue that I wished could have been done for Phan pal 2, except for the low key budget!!!! GREAT work. Please, author, if you're here, I'd love to be able to say thanks in person!!! 10 stars

  • No, I haven't seen the Robert Englund version. Though, I have seen the 1925, 1943, 1962, and 2004 film versions of Phantom! Phantom Of The Paradise also parodies "The Picutre Of Dorian Grey" which is about a story where a lady's picture ages, not her!

  • Actually, Dorian Grey is a man. His picture ages. But you know, same same.

  • The best trailer I've seen for this movie..you've done a good job!

  • No kidding!! Beats the phony wolfman jack one to bits!!! Was this newly created or just a new find?

  • Thanks for uploading this

  • One of the best movies ever made, and this is a terrific tribute!

  • Terrific editing! I love it!

  • I am a 13 year old boy (who lied about his age to get onto You Tube) who's favorite movie is "Phantom Of The Paradise". Awesome job making the trailer. Much better than the fake on the American DVD release!

  • Kid ,you have good taste in movies!

I saw this movie myself for the first time when I was about your age, maybe a little older.

I found it witty, and well-acted,not to mention I had never heard of re-making stories at the time.

Have you seen Robert Englund's version of the Phantom story?

It's good and quite similar to 'Paradise'.

    Check it out.

  • You have done an excellent work, this trailer is better than the original. Phantom forever!!

  • Absolutely brilliant...ive loved this movie since 74 and you've done it justice, trust me.

  • Wait, you mean you made this trailer? Dat's good.

  • mwahaha awesome! I've loved this movie for about 10 years now i still need the dvd tho i only have it on vhs.

  • You wanna know where the inspiration for Darth Vader came from? Watch this

  • YUP. Were you at Phan pal one. William Finley mentioned that. It was also mentioned in Deborah Znaty's 2 dvd tribute. Fox has GOT to get their collective heads out of their collective butts. Come on!!! Fans are screaming for more but those idiots aren't hearing.

  • Maybe we should get an amazingly inundating letter-writing campaign going!

Seems like the only thing studio politicos understand is pressure,or bad press!

I've got the original soundtrack around the house on cassette somewhere, but I want the MOVIE on DVD.

Gotta have it .Has anyone thought of approaching

William Finley or even maybe Paul Williams himself about putting the moves on getting something done?

    It might help.

  • The movie has been on DVD for several years now.. and a great French release was issued with a short documentary a few years ago.. just head to ebay or Amazon...
