Tucking the right arm under to keep it off the parallel and out of his neck (where it can compress his neck) and curling the left arm around and pressuring down to keep the other guy's calf of the back of his neck where it can be folded over and locked in. The guard pass where he jumped over the low knee was sort of a 50/50 thing but the counter was solid. You can't triangle a guy til you elevate the hips or break his posture, period.
@rudenoodle I've rolled with Monson, he is tough to finish. Great hips and extremely strong. His technique is pretty damn good too. His north south choke comes out of EVERYWHERE. My god.

Neck cranks do NOT break people's necks. The most that could happen would be a strain. You are placing undue amounts of strain on the neck in a manner that it was not meant to go. Sounds like you could break it right? Wrong. It's a pain/discomfort move. Tap and its over, if you can hold out it won't hurt you. Similar to the "twister" in bjj. It CAN hurt someone ,but the main intent of it is to cause discomfort and make someone quit.
@disinferno06 Actually my friend snapped his neck just from getting stacked. He now can't walk, but it is the worst injury to occur in bjj ever. It can happen.
